A Great Hotel
I liked how there was a golf course, since I love to golf. This hotel has one of the nicest pools ever. The spa was very nice. Even better, a central location puts nearly every major attraction less than a 20-minute drive away -something that almost makes up for a lack of beachfront.
Had an excellent stay during Christmas 2019. Amazing one bedroom suite with stunning views. Very clean and housekeeping staff was friendly and welcoming. Front Desk staff was helpful and extremely pleasant. On demand shuttle was prompt and drivers were friendly. Restaurant staff was friendly and attentive. No issues with ferry to Hamilton. Overall grounds were clean and well kept. We wound definitely return.
Memorable first trip to Bermuda!
We absolutely loved our stay at Newstead!! Not only was the property beautiful, the accommodations were well suited for our family of four. All the staff were quite helpful with the many questions I had, all answered so pleasantly! The ferry and hotel shuttle were so convenient to use. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The special cookie delivery on Christmas Day was a lovely and delicious surprise. Thank you Newstead!!
We stayed in one of the cottages. Number 221. It was a one bedroom with a balcony off the living room as well as a Juliet balcony. When you had the patio doors open you could hear the water lapping below. You were so close to the water that when you were looking out it was as if you were on a cruise ship. Full kitchen with high end appliances. We were there for 10 nights and ate all our meals in. The bedroom had a full balcony with a Juliet balcony as well. All the furnishings were beautiful and the unit was tastefully decorated.
Repeat visit, very disappointing.
I returned to the property because the room configuation was the best I could find for three women. The housekeeping staff was very conscientious and efficient. Although the wait for the shuttle was invariably long the staff drivers were pleasant and friendly. The problem was the service, principally at reception. The staff were unfriendly and not helpful. The first night we waited in Hamilton for the ferry shuttle. We asked the government operated staff to call the Newstead to confirm the last run would go. Staff said it would. It did not and no explanation was given. Fortunately we were able to get the government ferry. During our stay there was construction at an adjacent building and some repair work being done on the room below ours. Although mildly disturbing we did not contact the desk until a jackhammer was brought in. It was extremely loud and shook the room. I called the desk and was told by staff: 1. I can hear it. 2. It's in another building not affiliated with Newstead ( it most definitely was not in another building) 3. They have permission to work at 0900 4. I did hear "something" about knocking a wall out. This quick shuffle through a laundry list of excuses did not help. We had to leave the room immediately. It was completely uninhabitable. When I checked out the others in my party remarked on the very sullen attitude of the woman at reception. She was the one to whom I had complained about the noise This very beautiful property is marred by difficult staff who appeared to have no on site supervision. The bellmen and housekeepers should give lessons to the front desk on courtesy and hospitality.
