    Barefoot restaurant

Ate at Barefoot restaurant. Food was amazing and Willin Beriguete our waitress was fabulous. So helpful and caring. Thankyou Willin. Prawn skewer to start and Fish for main was really good and so much flavour and the setting on the beach is just stunning.

    Loved the Resort

I'll start by saying we were "Level" guests and that Alby was an amazing concierge. The beach is killer, the food is as expected. Most of the restaurants were very good, there was one down on the beach (not the buffet or Barefoot) that I do not recommend. Can't remember the name. Staff is friendly, grounds are beautiful and my wife says she would go back so that speaks volumes. If the lighting in the rooms was just a bit better... especially in the bathrooms, then it would be amazing ;) Minor issue. 5 stars for the service, the beach and the staff. Alby... it was Perfectooooo as you would say!!

    TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE NEVER AGAIN.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY , WERE DO WE START POSITIVES: NICE GROUNDS HARD WORKING GROUNDSMEN AND RESTAURANT STAFF AT MAR DE SAR AND VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT. NEGATIVES: EVERYTHING ELSE ROOM WAS VERY POOR, OUTDATED , FULL OF MOSQUITOS , AND I GOT BIT MORE IF A NIGHT THAN I DID IN THE DAY BEING OUTSIDE. ITS NOT A WELLNESS RESORT ITS GOT A SPA AND AEROBICS WOOPEY IT DOESNT MAKE IT A WELLNESS RESORT FAR FROM IT. PEOPLE PLAYING MUSIC ON THERE PHONES AROUND THE POOL AND USING THE USE OF DRUGS THAT WAS SUPPLIED BY 1 PARTICULAR MEMBER OF THE ENTERTAINER STAFF( EMBARRASSING). ENTERTAINMENT IF A NIGHT WAS AIMED FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION OF A NIGHT AFTER 9PM AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE 2 BUFFET RESTAURANTS FLIES EVERYWERE ALL OVER THE COLD FOOD AND THE TOASTER I WILL NEVER CRITICISE MY TOASTER EVER AGAIN THE TOASTER WAS AWFUL. THE BEACH WAS OK BUT TBE VENDORS WERE CONSTANTLY AT YOU SELLING STUFF. YOU GET HARRASHED FOR TIPS ASWELL OF THE STAFF. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ITS NOT A QUIET RESORT AT ALL. WERE PEOPLE ARE PUTTING NICE AND QUIET I DONT UNDERSTAND THAT ITS NOT QUIET I FELT LIKE I WAS IN IBIZA WITH THE LOUD MUSIC!!!

    Wonderful staff and wonderful resort!

A wonderful resort! So beautiful and so peaceful. The staff was wonderful, especially our concierge Alejandro. Randolpho, Maximo, Deina, Maria, Hierojo, Juan, Junior, and all the staff at the Quimera restaurant gave our meals, coffee, and cocktails that extra personal touch. The Level experience was definitely worth it!

    Bad Hotel Experience

This is the first bad review I have ever done. I travel often and have been to DR more than a handful of times. I love the country. It's beautiful beaches and land. My experience at Meliá has by far been the worse. Never do I assume I'll ever have a top notch, no inconveniences trip, but this one took the cake. Dare I say the airport experience going and coming was more smooth than this entire trip... and that's saying something. Check in reception staff was less than adequate. No urgency or communication was apparent. The lady with the welcome drinks didn't know what the drink was. We checked into a dirty room with a broken safe. The mini bar was empty and no toilet paper holder. We had to wait hours to check in, then after reporting the room issues, then investigating room by staff, to wait now for a change of rooms to happen consumed day 1. PS: note we unpacked and planned to stay in that room, but when the safe was broken, that was it. Guest services attendant was more helpful than others. He even supplied a bottle for our troubles which was nice. Moving on to food, it was a C- at best. No sanitizer for spoons and most of the "hot" food was cold, unless something was cooked in front of you. We tipped along the way and none of the servers were more attentive than another. My friend is bilingual so the issue of language barrier wasn't a reason for all this frustration. Apparently, you have to be in the "LEVEL" up's rooms and not booked through Expedia to enjoy the better food and amenities. The one excursion into town, led to the staff on the other end saying we couldn't walk through the town because they were responsible for us. I've never heard of this in my whole life and was also not told this up front before I booked. We did buy spa treatments that were nice. The last straw leading me to write this review was waking up to a wet bed due to a leak in the ceiling on our last morning. When checking out, there was no apologies or urgency to understand how upset I was if in fact I had another night or two reserved... which ultimately would have resulted in a 3rd room change. I'll attach some pics. Good luck if you stay here. Have extra patience and "LEVEL" up if you can afford it. I heard it makes the difference, however I wouldn't ever return.
