Amazing Trip To Punta Cana!
Recently took a friends trip to Punta Cana and stayed at the Melia. The resort was amazing with tons of amenities. We “Leveled up” in the Wellness section and loved all the upgrades including our concierge Juan Adbricole. Juan made our trip even more amazing treating us like royalty! We will definitely be back!

Not a 5 star resort
The resort, grounds and rooms are beautiful and clean. The pool is huge with room to sit most times we were there. The food is good but never changes. We paid for level. I have mixed feelings about this. We were near the pool and beach but secluded from the main part of the resort. They do run shuttles, but this is where my issue with service starts. The shuttle service to level is terrible to non existent. Next up with the level is the concierge service. It is nothing more than txt chat that you would get at most hotels with a live person that helps you with your luggage moving in and out. Way below our expectations. Last for the level, halfway through our stay the level building was shut down with no notice. This meant the roof top bar that was the selling point for me was closed, the snacks that are available all day, gone, even just the use of the restroom, gone. No accommodations were made, none. Moving on. Do not use orlando (in the towel shack) to book tours. The tours he sends you on are definitely not for 5star resort guests. You’ve been warned. For a “wellness “ resort the smoking is way out of hand, the only place I could get away from it was in the restaurants and my room. Beach drink service, very limited. When I went to the bar to get a drink the person who should have been walking around taking drink orders was hiding at the bar on their phone. I understand it’s hard to control seaweed, however you need to know it is there. It’s not the beautiful sandy beach and clear water in the brochure. In closing, I’ll quote another guest. “This is 5 star? I don’t see it”

Not Wellness
I gave it 2 stars because the grounds were beautiful and chef Pedro was awesome! Other than those two things the resort is at best a 3 star. Smoking is permitted everywhere in the resort. How is this wellness? We had a wellness beachside Level room. The room itself was ok. The Level wasn’t worth the extra money. Our butlers did absolutely nothing for us. The level building closed down during our stay. No accommodations were made for Level guests left with no rooftop bar or snacks during the day. Basically just deal with it. I asked multiple times what they were going to do to accommodate us and we got nothing. I would avoid the excursion desk. Both excursions we booked with them were disasters. One actually stole from my credit card. Just note the restaurants require reservations and the menu never changes. It’s the same every single day. The entertainment was extremely basic but hard to enjoy with limited seating and the smoking. The beachfront was the only beach with seaweed. If you looked up and down the shore line there was no seaweed just in front of this resort. It was impossible to get a drink while at the beach on the Level side. No waiter service to be found. Massage treatment was cut short by 15 minutes with no explanation. This is not a 5* hotel. I’m would look elsewhere if you are looking for a 5* resort.

Beautiful resort, good food, & amazing staff
We visited Melia Punta Cana for the first time for our honeymoon. We were not disappointed. The entire resort and the beaches were absolutely stunning. We got the level suite, and it was very spacious and comfortable. It had a nice balcony with a view of the grounds, a comfortable king size bed, and a great walk in shower...not to mention the mini fridge that they constantly kept stocked for our enjoyment. There were a variety of different restaurants with different dining experiences. Our favorite were the buffets, but they also had some wonderful restaurant spots with more intimate settings that provided delicious cuisine. The resort also provided all kinds of evening entertainment, dancing and shows. And if that was not to your thing, you could always enjoy their super relaxing spa. There were constant opportunities to enjoy all kinds of excursions as well. All of this was provided to us by an amazing and friendly staff that went above and beyond to make our stay as memorable and enjoyable as possible. We had two butlers, Jorge and Maxwell, who were constantly on call for any questions, help, or services that we needed. Both Jorge and Maxwell, with their professional and amiable demeanor helped us to settle in immediately and we were able to establish a wonderfully good rapor with them. Aldo, one of the resort trolley drivers, was so nice and friendly. He always seemed to be around right when we needed to go somewhere & it was just too hot to walk. He was like our resort friend by the end of our stay. Some things we did not like were the weird smell that would come from our shower, the fact that there were some ants that got into our treats on one of our dressers, and too much seaweed at the beach. But overall, we had a wonderful experience! We definitely plan to visit again in the future!
