Wouldn’t go back!!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Melia on March 10 to the 17th. Upon arrival we were directed to our room which is down a long long Hhallway far away from anything. The room before us looked as if it had overflowed with water as the hallway was soaked, it stayed that was for the 4 days we were there. As we enter the room it is absolutely freezing and continued to be freezing even with the air conditioning shut off for the next four days. And when I say four days that’s because we ended up booking a flight home early because of the coronavirus but also because we were so uncomfortable at this hotel. The food was terrible on the last day we found a buffet down by the pool, which you had to fight about 500 spring breakers to get to food and drinks. Our room was an absolute icebox I wish that I would’ve brought a sweater, socks and pants. There was construction outside our room starting at 7 AM every morning. They also have a one drink limit per person at a time which is very inconvenient when you have to go back up to the bar to get a drink every single time. We ended up leaving on March 14th instead of the 17th as we were originally supposed to do mainly because my boyfriend and I were so uncomfortable at this resort. We travel often and will definitely return to the Bahamas but not to this resort.
Hotel Refuses to Credit Reservation Even Though Hotel Closed
We booked a trip for April 5 to 8th to celebrate my sons graduation and just found out the hotel is closing today indefinitely due to travel restrictions. The hotel refuses to cancel and credit our reservation because it was originally a nonrefundable. I understand the terms of this reservation under normal conditions but since the hotel is now closed they should be reasonable and offer us a refund or at least a partial refund. I would never choose to stay with this hotel chain after the numerous calls and emails I have had to try and come up with a reasonable solution. '..
Terrible Business Practices - Beware!
I visited this resort in March of this year. I'd really like to be able to leave a better review because we found the location grounds to be nice and the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The property is located right on a great section of Cable beach. We happened to attend over spring break and unfortunately, the behavior of 18-20-year-old college students surviving solely on alcohol and hormones leaves me wishing we would have opted for the Baha Mar next door. Now the reason for my poor review. Beware of giving this company any money in good faith and expecting them to credit you as they promised over and over again. I purchased my package in January of 2020, the package I purchased was one that was to be paid 100% at the time of booking and was non-refundable. When I arrived at the hotel they asked for a card for incidentals and said it needed to be the same card we booked with. Between the time that I booked in January and arrived in March, our credit card company had issued us new numbers due to some unauthorized fraud on our account, so while it was the same credit card company and account the card number was different. The only way they would allow me to check into my room (mind you I am in a forgein country during the beginings of the Coronavirus outbreak) is if I paid them again 100% of the booking fee on the new card and they would then refund 100% of the booking that I paid on the original card in January. I was promised that the refund would take place within 2-4 business days and that they would "red flag" my refund to ensure that their finance team took care of it before I left. Fast forward to check out and we still have no credit on our card for the original charges, so now I've paid double what I should have for a week stay here. Upon checkout I ask to speak to finance or a manager to get this cleared up. They told me that neither party was available because it was Saturday and that they would get back to me via email on Monday of the next week. I'm sure you can guess that there was no follow up completed by them. I have now called and emailed multiple times to multiple people with no response and no credit. We are now two weeks from returning home and still no credit or any type of communication from Melia. Today I will be filing a charge back with my credit card company as it has become VERY clear that his comany has no intention to honor my credit. Do not trust Bernard at the front desk or Adriel Marshall in finance. Liars and thiefs at this point. I will return to the Bahamas as it was gorgeous and we had a great time when we were out on excursions. I will not however ever return to the Melia.
After reading the reviews I was very worried about coming to melia As soon as we arrived we went up to level and met Miriam she was an absolute gem answered any questions we had done our dinner reservations nothing was to much an asset to the resort Jamie -Leigh was well helpful as well All staff were helpful and friendly especially Monique (lil mo) she is the best on the beach Shareta Bendji and Nath at O’grille at breakfast were so friendly and helpful a big shout out to CAROLINE in o’grille at lunchtime she was the best Brian in the Mexican was the best waiter some friendly had the time to tell you about the dishes and was very funny Spring breakers were there didn’t interfere we us and not a problem had a show cooking meal in the Asian restaurant we went in an sat down we 10 spring breakers we had a very good night Room was clean and comfortable food was good on some occasions it was warm could of been hotter drinks were very good and top brands overall this resort was very good would recommend level We will tell friends and family about this resort and will be returning
Beware of this place
Was really looking forward to a quick 3 day getaway. Upon arriving, noticed that the safe was not working. Security came to change the battery and proceeded to watch me enter my code. He then asked if that was a code that I used all the time, and also asked if I was traveling alone. I did not feel comfortable. After he left, I changed the code immediately to a completely different combination. The next morning I tried to open the safe and the combination was not the combination that I had set it to the day before. I tried 2x, and then decided to put in the combination that the security guard had watched me enter the day before, the safe opens. I immediately went to the front desk and filled out a report/complaing. No one followed up with me on this. Later, saw the security guard working, which left me feeling uneasy again. Went to dinner again, came back and the code to the safe had been changed again. I did not feel safe at all and that night decided to book a flight to leave Nassau on the first flight available the next day. I barely slept on my second night and was filled with anxiety. I do not know if there was an issue with the safe, but I do know that the hotel security was totally inappropriate with his questions and no one should ever feel afraid while on vacation. My ENTIRE trip was ruined because I felt uneasy from the first day I walked into this place. Safety matters the most, and this hotel does not care, nor do they respond appropriately. I've learned my lesson.
