    Third time visiting this resort!

Great spring break with family- we took our 18 year old and our 26 year old to the Melia. This is the third time we’ve been to this specific resort (but first for our kids). We upgraded to the Level (as always) and got the two bedroom/two bathroom accommodations. This was basically two single rooms connected but one of the rooms has a full kitchen and dining room/sitting area whereas, the other room was a continental kitchen. Last time we came to the Melia we were a five minute walk from the beach, however the family style suites are farther back and our walk was about 12-13 minutes to the beach. It was nice and didn’t bother us but if walking is challenging, keep that in mind. The Level Has a separate beach area which is nice- still had littler kids around but not too bad compared to the other beach area. There is minimal bar service at the beach- last time we came there was a full big bar right on the beach. This time it was a cute little camper that served a limited menu. We went frequently to the pool pad to get more drinks. The restaurant by the beach is amazing- we ate there a lot for breakfast and lunch. We also ate breakfast at the restaurant by the level pool. The main lobby holds most of the dinner restaurants and entertainment at night. Definitely check out all the night shows they are amazing! The kids want to go back again next year- we enjoyed so much down time together it was a great experience overall!! Highly recommend booking here!

Disappointing Stay at Melia Caribe Beach Resort - Inconsistency and Poor Service Throughout

I recently stayed at the Melia Caribe Beach Resort in Punta Cana with my family, and unfortunately, our experience was marred by widespread inconsistency and disappointing service quality. While the resort has potential with its beachfront location, the execution falls far short of expectations for a resort of this caliber. Service Inconsistencies Everywhere The most frustrating aspect of our stay was the complete lack of consistency across all services. The ice cream situation at the kids' pool was particularly disappointing - sometimes it was available, sometimes not, and when it was there, the freezers weren't working properly, turning what should have been a treat into melted soup. This kind of basic maintenance issue shouldn't exist at a resort. Dining service was equally unpredictable. At the buffet, you might get attentive staff who check on you, but more often than not, you're left waiting indefinitely for drinks since they don't offer self-service options. The hit-or-miss nature of service made meal times stressful rather than enjoyable. Room Service and Housekeeping Issues Room service was unreliable at best - some days staff simply didn't show up at all. The mini bar situation was particularly annoying, arriving empty without even basic water bottles unless you specifically called to request stocking, which we had to do almost daily. Housekeeping had bizarre practices that made no sense. Despite our room housing 5 people, they would remove all towels except three, leaving us without hand towels, face towels, or bath mats. This created safety issues since the bathroom floors become extremely slippery. They also had a strange habit of randomly removing pillows from the room. Poor Room Conditions The rooms themselves are in rough shape. The doors have significant gaps of 1/4 to 1/2 inch leading to the outside, making it easy for bugs to crawl in. The overall condition feels worn down and poorly maintained. Transportation Nightmare The trolley system is an absolute disaster. Expect long waits, especially at night and after dinner, with no organized queuing system. People push past each other and cut in line regularly, creating a chaotic and unpleasant experience when you just want to get back to your room. Guest Behavior Concerns While this isn't directly the resort's fault, the European and Spanish guests were consistently rude and entitled throughout our stay. They regularly cut in front of our children at buffet lines and during pool activities, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere for families. Final Thoughts The Melia Caribe Beach Resort has the foundation to be a great vacation destination, but the execution is severely lacking. The inconsistent service, maintenance issues, and chaotic organization make it difficult to relax and enjoy what should be a stress-free vacation. Until they address these fundamental operational problems, I cannot recommend this resort to other families. Save your money and look elsewhere for a more reliable and well-managed resort experience.RetryClaude can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.

Third time here and it’s changed…

This was my third trip to Melia Caribe Beach and because the previous times I absolutely loved it, therefore I rebooked for this trip. Now I will say my parents came to the trip with me this time and did enjoy it but for me I want to highlight the changes I’ve seen the third time around. This review will highlight positives and negatives. My stay was at the Level side all three times. I want to say if you want more of a relaxing family time stay there. When I went to the regular side to look at the pool I ran out asap it was party central at the pool with families and lots of music and dancing, drinking and crowded. Wasn’t my vibe but if that’s what you want then regular side is for you. Previously I was amazed by the attention in service, food, activities and overall aesthetics. I can see the quality going down in some of those areas. While I get things are changing due to economy I would hope not to see that much impact when vacationing. Food The main lobby of hotel is where the majority of a la carts restaurants and the main buffet Mercado. Previous visits the food looked so fresh, taste so good but now the food is tasteless and I’ve seen repeat of food that was offered during lunch and dinner. One night looked like they ran out of food. Unfortunately I ended up getting sick for a whole day and could barely get up from bed because of what I ate. The last night the buffet Mercado looked as though food was scarce I chose not to eat much that night it just didn’t look appetizing. The food at riviera which is exclusive to level guest was better. It’s smaller and less options but quality does look better to have breakfast and lunch there. I did see a dead roach by the food my last day. Service- Level includes an assigned concierge. We met him first day he introduced himself sent menu for spa, reviewed map of property we asked for reservations gave days/times and options he said he would try and let us know. Never did make the reservations and honestly never really heard from him until my last day when checking out. Previously our concierge checked in each day. Both previous times they left something for us in the room like wine or some treats and nothing. I asked questions and it just seemed like I was bothering him is the way it felt. My AC didn’t work for a day and it was the day I was sick from the food. I called for service twice and mind you I had to call from the other room I had reserved because our phone didn’t work and nothing. No one came to fix it. The next day I messaged my concierge who responded would take care but still nothing so I ended up having to go to front desk myself. They apologized and went to fix it immediately. On the second night, I also asked for an extra duvet and they said the request was resolved but ended up having to put in a second request because we never received it and when it arrived smelled like a wet dog. I will say a positive was on our last night we asked if we could do late check out which they honored and during that time they asked us about the experience. I shared what I’m writing here and they were very apologetic. I’m appreciative of their apology and accountability. Some of the staff are honestly hit or miss. Some staff look miserable with attitudes like they don’t want to be there and some will actually be really nice. I have to give a huge shout out to Lisbeth at the Riviera restaurant she is a gem. She’s made up for all the other attitudes. She was warm welcoming each day and although they looked understaffed she made sure to take care of my family. She went above and beyond! The last day people all over resort suddenly appeared so friendly. This was the service I had hoped for since day one. Rooms- Rooms look older and outdated and honestly they did before. But cleaning it goes along way. I’m not here looking at each crevice but you can tell and smell when something is cleaned well. My room wasn’t but my parents down a floor was. On Our last night we had to shower with cold water. I felt like I was back on the farm showering with cold water. Tip on rooms. Ask for a front facing room. Less mosquitos in the patio. I suggest also bringing bug spray fyi. Nightly entertainment- I want to say this area was still great! Each night they have shows and throughout the resort there are activities as well. Ask for a calendar. They really do try to make activities very family oriented and I appreciate that. It was fun each night. I do think there should be something more pre-teen/teen centered activities. Maybe like a competitive sports game or something with video games. Resort The property itself is gorgeous outside. Very well kept, great walking area I mean that is 5 stars just in the aesthetics. The lobby is beautiful too! Bring mosquito repellent for the lobby. The level pool was nice it’s cleaned each evening. The kids water park is amazing and now they serve more snack like foods there than before. My family had the time of their lives. This time around there was only one train that takes you to the beach from main lobby. That train had stopped working one day, was super crowded others which caused a long wait time so we ended up walking a lot. Before it was two trains. The last night I was there, I did see the second train so maybe it’s because the hotel was more crowded. Overall, I want to say this may be my last time here. I am disappointed in how things have changed and maybe it’s just overall because of the economy but I’d rather spend 3k somewhere I can sleep in a cold AC room and eat food without feeling sick or even just feel like I’m receiving what I paid for. I didn’t want to be constantly complaining and I don’t like to be a pester to people but I do wish the experience was better. If you are coming here, make sure to stay at level. I can’t imagine how it is on the regular side. Also if you’re looking to relax it’s better there as well.

THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING TRIP TO MELIA EL CARIBE

    * Misrepresentation of rooms: room was not what we expected as per website * Misrepresentation of number of restaurants: websites states over 20 restaurants but actually only 7 are available, one of which is extra cost. Riviera is presented as “International” but including pasta in the buffet is not enough to label it as International. The choices at the restaurants is limited and of mediocre quality. Very limited choices for Vegetarians and Vegan. * Cleanliness of rooms: shoddy cleanliness of rooms. Cleaning staff does minimal cleaning. * No Information is offered to guests re the resort unless one asks questions, you’re pretty much on your own. * Melia App not accessible to guest for a late arrival. Questionable practice. * Rooms amenities in the room were not functional as expected. * A The Level guest cannot make a restaurant reservation before check in on the App and yet one cannot make a restaurant reservation the day of. * ALL INCLUSIVE Misrepresentation: on the App, Melia states, Lobster Hut is available but in small print states it is temporarily closed. Actually, a lobster meal is available for $70 pp.
