Horrible Experience
Classic false advertising. They advertise various restaurants that are included in the all inclusive package but then when you get there you don't really have access to them, despite purchasing the upgraded Level package. When you are able to get a reservation at one of the restaurants, which is rare even after you complain, the food quality is poor at best. The beach was also unusable due to the high levels of seaweed and incessant vendor harassment.

DO NOT GO if you want an enjoyable holiday.
We are currently staying at the Meliá and are almost half way through our stay. Absolutely gorgeous hotel with a massive pool. We are not level guests and do sort of regret not paying level as it is made very obvious that you are not a premium guest member and does sort of take away from the experience. I would say the customer service is not what we are used to at all we usually go vacation to the Caribbean and all have similar amazing service but the Melia has been a massive let down. We are used to very smiley friendly and inviting staff that come and introduce themselves but the only warm smiles we have had so far were from the people trying to sell us excursions and a passing smile from the ladies at the entrance of the buffet. In the buffet we have had to ask for our table to be set and even ask for the mess from the previous table to be wiped off before hand and need to ask multiple times for a drink, the staff aren’t very attentive and you actually basically need to chase them to ask them to bring you things like water or cutlery (should definitely not be the case). The customer service is the biggest let down of this holiday and trying to book dinner reservations is difficult as usual but 10x worse which is a shame because the grounds of the hotel are gorgeous as said previously. And the rooms are very spacious and clean with a gorgeous set up. Also highly disappointed in the response to these reviews as again several complaints have been made to staff and still must have “not been put in the records” which is a whole other problem in its self, take accountability and stop saying your going to fix these issues and actually fix them instead of making promises that you simply and very clearly cannot keep. Obviously your always going to get those few negative reviews but genuinely we have stayed in Dominican before and it was head and shoulders above this. Never complain on holiday but this time is is all that we have done which is a let down because we have been treated so much better in 4 star hotels and for a much cheaper price which simply this should not be the case. The staff here genuinely do treat you like they hate you but they also do look overworked. Some restaurant staff were very lovely attentive and smiley but again this isn’t something we should be getting excited over because it’s simply the bare minimum. And you are treated like an outsider if you did not pay for level which should not be the case as we have still payed for the holiday so should there for at least be given the bare minimum and from reading the other reviews a lot of paying level customers also feel they are not receiving the bare minimum. So many other nice places in the Caribbean and in punta Cana that are cheaper and way more worth your time and money than this place. My deepest regrets if you are already here you are just gonna need to make the holiday yourself because the staff simply aren’t going to do it for you. A 3 star is very generous for this I will not lie, I’m not one to ever complain especially during a holiday when I am meant to be enjoying it but I feel that this time it’s so necessary. And now I get to sit and wait excitedly for the same generic complaint reviews feedback that everyone else also gets.

Beautiful but shallow
Melia Caribe was definitively the worst out of country resort that I've experienced so far, and after speaking to others visiting the Island had similar experiences so I am not sure if it is culture specific or what. Staff is not helpful at all with transportation, there is only one train to get you back and forth from lobby to beach that is constantly full. My friend and I were at one point chasing a begging golf carts to no avail. The campus is quite large and easy to get a bit lost. Customer service, was low don't expect Cancun quality nobody goes out of their way to do anything unless you pay upfront. Food wasn't inedible, but not memorable at all. There were minimal events throughout the day and it feels like the resort closes down at 10 because everything shuts down no bars open etc. Hard to find anyone especially security. Pool closes so early at 7-8 which seems a bit early. All restaurants that aren't buffets require you to come in there at some time of the day and make a reservation prior to them opening. Even if the place is generally empty. Yea.....I was shocked. I am also sick somehow from something I consumed albeit water from restaurant, or food. The place itself is beautiful and clean though. Spa staff was 10/10 very kind professional. Only hot tub btw is at the spa.
