First-time Margaritaville vacationers
We loved our spacious room with a balcony and views of the sea! Having a kitchen, dining room, living room, and a seperate king bedroom made all of the difference on our 7-day vacation to St. Thomas. The staff and customer service from the wait staff and bartenders was fantastic! We took taxis, which were readily available to explore the island. Our favorite beach, Coki Beach, was just a 5 minute walk away. Make sure you get a meal at one of the local restaurants at that beach. Margheritaville also provides transportation daily to Saphire Beach and Coki. Our room was on the hillside near the hill top pool. On days when we were worn out, we took advantage of the golf cart rides back to our room instead of walking up all of the stairs. There's also a non-resort affiliated restaurant to the right of the beach. It's small, but service and food were great. You can also feed the tarpon right from the restaurant! We also ate at the restaurant and bar at our resort and we were never disappointed.

Margaritaville Rio Mar
What a fabulous resort! Spent a week in Puerto Rico relaxing on the beach, by the pool, and 5 o’clock Somewhere. Shoutout to Islander/ICElander, who greeted us with a smile and quickly set up our chairs and umbrella for the day. Our beautiful one bedroom, oceanfront room was much larger than expected and fully equipped! Food was yummy and fresh at Roots and Roots to Go. We rented a car for the week from Charlie’s and visited Old San Juan, El Yunque, and Luquillo Beach.

Excellent Resort
We are here now. Our room was ready at 1:30 and staff were polite. This is our 6th trip and this has been our best experience yet. Our room is a studio poolside. If you don’t want to climb stairs book these rooms. Occupancy is 2 and plenty of room. Room is immaculate. Live music 3 times this week. Dined in restaurant twice so far and is great. Drinks are strong and 2 for 1 happy hour is unbeatable. Beach is unusable but is a 5 minute walk to Coki Beach and a 7 minute taxi to Red Hook Ferry to St John. Pool is warm and clean. Honestly couldn’t ask for a better experience.

Average
Nice and clean, very well maintained. Not enough seating at either pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. Odd one day we were woken up by housekeeping asking to look at our couch as they were getting new furniture. Margarita machine in room didn’t work. My only dislike is the restaurant. They of course include gratuity in your checks, which allow staff to work at a lower than expected level. Our waitress “Sophia” lied right to our face to get more money on her gratuity. She told us “Thursdays were the only night they had buffet”. Lie #1 as we saw it out several other times. She also said, “it’s great, there’s options such as ribs, steak, vegetables….” Lie # 2. None of these were on the buffet which ended up being $50 a person for barely any food. I would suggest to anyone to buy food elsewhere because the restaurant is a complete rip off. Entire resort is closed at 10 pm. You can’t even go get a soda or water. Overall, nice place and would stay here again.

Run from this place!!!
To be clear, we have stayed at this resort before and enjoyed it so much we booked a second time. What a difference a year makes! This year the resort is dirty, unkempt and the staff varies between completely apathetic and just rude. The only exception being the front desk team who were very friendly and helpful. The concierge team on our first night proceeded to get into a verbal altercation with each other over “stealing” one another’s guests. Right in front of new guests trying to get their wristbands. Trash everywhere. Walking through the resort in the morning g trash and towel bins spilling all over we the place. No staff, except a lone pool cleaner in sight. Need trash picked up, lean towels or your room freshened up…forget it. You need to truly do it yourself. Results in trash and piles of dirty towels outside guest doors…classy. Finally, the resort just looks tired. Top of hill pool is crumbling under the stools in the swim up area. Sadly, we won’t be returning as this was such a disappointment this year. Look elsewhere as there are a lot of options on the island.
