A very nice resort
This was our second time at a Majestic resort in Punta Cana. We arrived later in the afternoon on a Friday, but oddly it took a while to check in. Our package included a butler and it turned out they wanted to take another couple along which meant we had to wait 20 min to get to our room. There was no discussion of which room we would get, nor any possible upgrades. Unfortunately, when we got to our room, we found that our ocean view room was mostly a view of a pool and cabana below us, a service road leading to the bar, a big hedge, and the Royalton next door. One could see a bit of the ocean above all that, but it really wasn’t what I would call ocean view. Of course that meant another trek all the way across the resort to the front desk where we spent the next half hour talking to various managers who kept saying there was nothing else available until the next day. Sadly, the room they offered us the next day was much worse in that it literally looked down into the seafood restaurant. We gave up and kept the room we originally had, but we had missed most of a day without being able to unpack or really settle in and I really felt that the room type was somewhat misrepresented. It seems that the way the resort is laid out there are few rooms that are truly ocean view except perhaps the top floor rooms at the end of the building. We agreed to not let the first days’ disappointment taint our vacation. The room itself was a very large suite with a sitting area and a bedroom separated by a large set of doors. The bed/bath featured a large bathtub smack in the middle of the bathroom area. We never used it and kinda felt it was in the way. For such a large room, there wasn’t very much storage for clothing like dresser drawers and some of the shelves in the closet were also missing. It would have been nice to have some more hangars, too. The AC worked quite well and the room was always comfortable. The lighting was OK. There were outlets by each side of the bed and in the sitting area. Oddly the ceiling fan was in the sitting area rather than the bedroom. The balcony was decent sized and had a jacuzzi which we never used so I don’t know if it even worked. Due to us being on the second floor and room orientation, our balcony only had sunshine for a very short period in the early morning. The room had 2 medium sized TVs, but due to the large doors between rooms, both were offset from the bed and couch. We didn’t watch much and there were only a few channels in English we could find anyway. I can watch TV at home. The bed was a very comfortable king size. Except for the trucks delivering to the bar on the aforementioned service road in the morning, the room was very quiet. The room had a fridge, minibar, coffee maker, and some good bottles of scotch, rum, and sparkling wine as well as beer, pop, water, etc. The mini bar was restocked daily. The room was always very clean. Maid service was excellent. Staff seemed to be universally pleasant and friendly. Our building had an adults only lounge attached near the beach which was very nice. It had booze, pop, snacks, and both an indoor and outdoor seating area. We ate lunch there most days. The resort complex is arranged in two columns of buildings with long skinny swimming pools adjacent to them. The rooms in each building are arranged around a courtyard of greenery and fountains in the central area. Some of the pools are swim out from the lower floor rooms. The pools were very clean and well maintained. We were always able to get a lounger by the pool somewhere. This was a very nice change from almost every other all-inclusive resort where you have to get up at 630AM to claim a spot poolside. Also nice was the fact that they don’t make you use those stupid towel cards. I have a closet full of towels, why would I want to take home another one? Yet another nice feature was that there were a number of restrooms near the pools. This isn’t always the case as readers of my reviews will know. The grounds are very nice with well lighted paths with lots of greenery and flowers. There were surprisingly few bugs. Mosquitoes were not a problem while we were there. There were quite a few bars around the resort. The bartenders were pleasant and friendly. The hidden gem was the Parrots tiki bar between the pools. Ana made us tasty fruity drinks each afternoon. They had high end liquor available in most of the bars except sadly they had no Captain Morgan. The resort had a very nice large lobby with a bar and also an outdoor plaza area. It was usually way too hot to use the plaza during the day, but at night it was very pleasant. Usually, they had live music on the plaza. There were entertainment shows each night at 9PM. Most were very good especially the circus show. The resort was well designed so that most of the rooms are not near the loud areas like the plaza. The only gripe I had about the theater is that they allowed smoking in the theater itself. There always seemed to be someone with a cigar nearby. Yuk. The entertainment staff was busy there. They had water and beach aerobics, pool games, and dancing lessons and such. There was sometimes music playing poolside. The resort has a very nice gym with modern equipment which seemed to be well maintained. One of the best things about the resort was the food. There were 5 specialty restaurants: the steakhouse, the Hibachi, the Italian, the French, and the seafood. We tried them all throughout the week. All were quite good. The portions were appropriate and the food was very tasty. The buffet was also quite good. Each morning there were 2 buffet restaurants to choose from for breakfast as well as a really nice coffee shop next to the plaza. Finally the nicest thing about the resort was the beach area. Dominican Republic has in my opinion the best beaches anywhere. Smooth sand and almost no seaweed until the last couple days when the winds picked up. They did have tractors cleaning the beach each morning, too. The Mirage has a roped off section exclusively for members and we were always able to get a lounger by the beach any time of day. Beach vendors were not really a problem although I did see a couple. In summary, the Majestic Mirage was a very good choice for our winter get away. The resort is very nice, staff is friendly, food is great, and the beach area is great. The only gripe I had was the “ocean view room” issue and management’s somewhat lukewarm response.

Closest to paradise on Earth!
I had the best time of my life! We came to celebrate my husband's birthday and this place did NOT disappoint. We were served and greeted with nothing but the happiest people in this earth. Our butler, Wilber, went above and beyond helping me add special touches for the birthday boy. I can not wait to come back! Excellent place to visit!

Paradise in Dominican Republic
What a beautiful and friendly Resort! We just arrived home after a 7 night stay. The staff was so friendly and welcoming! Very walkable Resort, not huge. You really got to know the waitstaff. They were all very nice & genuine…and funny! Highly recommend everyone to stay here. Restaurants were good as well, our favorite was Hibachi. Rooms were VERY spacious. Loved the suites and having 2 bathrooms. Plenty of room and nice hot showers. We didn’t use the tub or hot tub~ only because we didn’t have the time or need for them.
