  Meh, it was a vacation.

  Stayed at the Colonial Club section (adults-only) The Pros: beautiful, lush and green, quiet and relaxing. Staff called us family, we loved that. They also recognized us after a couple of days and welcomed us for meals. Drinks were delicious and the swim up bar at the club pool was great! The bartender Leandro is mentioned in many reviews as the reason folks return, and he is GREAT! We adored our butler, Edith. She was outstanding and made a real effort to ensure we were having a fantastic time and that all our wishes were granted. Her service was the highlight of the trip. She was communicative and made sure she said hi every day. The cons: Staff are hit and miss in attitude. Some were wonderful, others were not shy about how much they didn't want to be there. AC in our room was loud, rattled from a hole in the ceiling where a kleenex seemed to be shoved in to try and dampen the sound. The bathroom is completely open to the bedroom, meaning there is no privacy. We had a hard time sitting down on the toilet and closing the door, the space was so small. Showers were too big. Policies aren't always enforced - spaces were labelled as adult spaces, but children weren't turned away (I like getting what I signed up for, so this was surprising). If we ever needed anything, we had to chase down employees - we had a lizard that needed to be removed and they were so unimpressed with us that we needed them to do it. We had to go and physically find someone in the hotel because they hung up on us 4 times. Balcony was lovely, but unusable - no handle on the outside, so getting back in was a challenge. Some observations: the smoking was everywhere and constant. Food is edible. Taino and Dominican Night were the most flavourful and best selection. Bali beds are a hot commodity, people save them very early in the morning, and the hotel doesn't monitor, like they advertise. Staff clean for the aesthetic rather than for cleanliness. You'll see them raking the sand at the beach, or paint over the walls that are mouldy, but the tiles in the pool are coming off, and a lot of the Bali Bed cushions are mouldy. We spent the majority of our time in the Club Pool - it was quiet and relaxing and no one was selling us anything, it was wonderful. We could never find any space to sit on the beach, so we just relaxed for most of the days at the pool. Oh! The vendors on Dominican Night are so pushy, do not take no for an answer and make it really difficult to physically get away from them. I had a really hard time with this as merchandise I said no to was pushed onto my head and constantly pushed into my purse. Once we did get away, I broke down and cried - it really dampened my experience and I don't know that I would return. Some additional information: this was my very first all inclusive vacation and I did research, was very prepared on what to expect, tipping culture and was given a lot of information from my travel agent. Also, this resort is getting a renovation in April 2026, so I hope they will address the physical building issues .

  Great place to stay!

  I loved it here! Yes, some updating of rooms but everything else excellent! Our butler Edwin was excellent and very helpful! My favorite bartender was Welfrey who was upstairs lobby bar and downstairs bar. Made great drinks and so pleasant!

  Best butler

  We had the absolute pleasure of having Jacob as our personal butler at Majestic Colonial Punta Cana, and he truly made our vacation unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Jacob went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect. He was professional, attentive, and incredibly responsive—always just a message away and quick to handle reservations, special requests, and anything else we needed. Whether it was arranging dinners, securing the best beach spots, or simply checking in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, he consistently exceeded our expectations. What stood out most was his warm personality and genuine care. Jacob didn’t just do his job—he made us feel valued and completely relaxed. His attention to detail and commitment to outstanding service turned a great trip into an exceptional one. If you’re staying at Majestic Colonial, we highly recommend requesting Jacob as your butler. He is truly a gem and a big part of why we can’t wait to return!

  Fantastic holiday

  I travelled to Majestic Colonial with a friend and my family last week. We had a wonderful vacation. The resort was beautiful with pristine grounds, the beach was incredible, the food and drinks were really great and the staff so friendly and helpful. I’d like to especially thank our butler Darel for tremendous customer service he provided us. He was available to us all the time, made great suggestions and helped us with large and small items. He was just the best!!!

  Do not waste your money here. ESPECIALLY ON COLONIAL CLUB

  I rarely leave negative reviews, however my recent stay was profoundly disappointing — particularly as this visit was meant to celebrate my birthday and was a return to a resort I had previously enjoyed. I agreed to wait beyond the standard 3:00 PM check-in time because I was explicitly promised a room upgrade. Based on that assurance, I accepted the delay; however, after not receiving access to my room until approximately 4:45 PM, the promised upgrade was never honored. No explanation or meaningful acknowledgment was provided. During multiple conversations with staff, it was openly stated that the resort was overbooked and operating at full capacity. While operational challenges can occur, overselling accommodations should never come at the expense of confirmed guests — particularly those who have paid a premium for upgraded experiences. I paid nearly $3,000 for the “Colonial Club” privileges, which ultimately proved to be an absolute waste. Despite the advertised elevated level of service, basic amenities such as beach seating were unavailable. We were directed to incorrect areas and were even asked to leave sections of the beach by staff, creating an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience. Our assigned butler openly acknowledged he could not assist with reserving beach seating and appeared equally frustrated and disengaged, which further highlighted the lack of operational support provided to guests. What made this especially disappointing was the complete absence of any special accommodation or recognition despite this being a birthday stay that had been communicated in advance. Hospitality is defined not by perfection, but by accountability and service recovery — both of which were noticeably absent. Having stayed at this resort in the past, it is disheartening to see the decline in service quality and organization. The experience no longer reflects the premium standards the property promotes. Based on this visit, I would strongly encourage travelers to consider alternative resorts or established chains where guest capacity is responsibly managed and advertised privileges are consistently delivered.
