4th Visit in under 2 years! My Happy Place!
This was our 4th trip to the Majestic Colonial in under 2 years and needless to say, we love it! What I realized this time is that it is more than just the resort that makes it perfect for us. Yes, the pools, beach, restaurants and bars are all excellent, but it is the people that we have met along the way that really make it a 5 star experience. Christian and Faustos at the lobby bar are so welcoming and do a fabulous job of keeping everyone happy. Leandro and Minerva at the Colonial Club pool bar are so sweet and we love the energy and enthusiasm that they show us every time we see them. Darel, the butler, has gone out of his way to be nice to us since the first time we met him. We did not have Darel the first three times we were there, yet somehow he took us under his wing. This time around, he stuck around well after his shift had ended because our flight was delayed. He met us with open arms at the front entrance. He has become our good friend and it was a pleasure to see him again! Our last two visits, including this one, Henry was our butler. Henry is an absolute beauty! He took care of all of our reservations and tee time bookings, then checked in on us daily just to make sure we were having fun. We looked forward to meeting up with him throughout the day just for some good conversation and a few laughs. We are planning to go back to the Majestic Colonial this March and can't wait to see everyone again! Thank-you to all of the management and staff for making this my "Happy Place"!

Overall good experience.
I was here with family for a week late January early February 2026. There was 4 of us in all. The grounds were lovely. Beautiful pools, friendly staff in every dining location. The a La carte restaurants were generally good, some better than others. Very very clean everywhere on the site. Rooms were very clean but somewhat sparse. Housekeeping services were excellent. Restaurant staff were largely friendly and attentive. Likely would not come back only because we like to try different resorts but this one met our overall expectations given the cost.

NOT A FIVE STAR RESORT -- GO ELSEWHERE
The pools and the beach are lovely; the rooms are large but dated; the food ample but just okay, the evening entertainment shows were not professional and it's over $500 a night a couple. But the number of BAD experiences we had there makes me want to advise readers to keep looking. We asked for an upgrade to the Club section when we arrived; the person at the front desk told us our room was already lovely but if we gave her $400 in cash, she could slip us the Club section wristband for the amenities (and made a point of telling me if we put that on the bill it would be $800.) The "ocean view" was only from the balcony, and then only if you turned in the right direction. No "ocean view" from inside the room. On the second day there, there were no towels at the pool at 10 am - for the whole day! Then on the third day, Guest services had made us a reservation for dinner at the 'upscale' restaurant - when we got there, they didn't have our name, and refused to seat us even though the restaurant was near empty. When I asked to see the manager, he pointedly told us he could find us a seat and put out his hand for a tip. But the last night was the worst. On our last day, we went to settle the bill, paid, and walked back the over 1500 steps to our room to discover we had been locked out! Since there are no hall phones, we had to go all the way back to the lobby and ask for new keys. If that wasn't bad enough at 10:30 pm, at 11:05 pm our room phone rang waking us up. That same man told me he had discovered he had charged me the wrong amount and demanded I come back to the lobby immediately! I told him we had gone to bed and weren't coming down to correct his mistake. We made the decision to be amused by all of. these customer service fails rather than ruin our vacation -- but seriously look elsewhere. We've had much better experiences at Dreams and Excellence.

Excellent
From the moment we had an issue with our room, everything changed thanks to an exceptional manager. Ms. Inés didn’t just fix the problem—she made us feel truly cared for. Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine attention turned what could have been stressful into a wonderful experience. She personally followed up and made sure our stay was comfortable every step of the way. She is a true example of outstanding hospitality, and the hotel is very lucky to have her. Thank you so much, Ms. Inés—we would absolutely return because of her.
