We spent a couple of nights in this hotel in February 2020. The room was clean and the staff great! the issue is that at night is very noisy, you can hear the music form the clubs that are just outside the hotel. The breakfast is a little bit disappointing. On the bright side the location is great, in the center of the city and not far from the beach.
We spent a lovely week in this beautiful hotel, which is ideally situated for exploring Playa Del Carmen and the surrounding area. The grounds are beautiful and kept immaculately clean, the pool could do with some maintenance as a few of the tiles were missing. All the loungers and chairs were in a good state of repair and comfortable. The lighting around the pool area at night was very pretty. The staff are so friendly and helpful. A special mention for Chuy who greeted us each morning breakfast, she had the most amazing smile and had such a warm personality. The buffet breakfast was varied, with plenty of choice and totally delicious. It was my birthday during our stay and I was greeted by a banner across the door and a towel bale made into a cake - it was such a wonderful surprise and much appreciated. Our room had a big comfy bed and I upgraded to the gel pillow which matched my Tempur one at home for comfort. There was adequate wardrobe space and a huge TV, the mini fridge kept our drinks cool. The window had a huge crack in it but didn’t let in any noise from outside. The shower-room could have done with a little maintenance/upgrade for a 4* hotel - however it didn’t bother us as it was kept immaculately clean by the housemaid each day. At night you could here music from 12th Street and The Yak Hostel in the shower-room, but not in the bedroom, therefore it didn’t really bother us. Ear plugs were provided but we didn’t use them. The Spa was beautiful, we really enjoyed our complimentary 30 minute thermal journey. We loved our stay here and would definitely return.
We loved the day we spent in the spa. We both had a facial and a massage. When we got there they greeted us like family and explained to us how everything works and where everything was. They even guided us in the Hydrotherapy room. The setting is beautiful and the people are great. We will be back.
We would give this hotel a 10 if we could.
This was our first trip and stay in Play Del Carmen. This hotel beat every exception that a traveler could of had. The staff ,the beauty of the grounds were just so wonderful. It will be our first choice for our next trip.
Absolutely loved this hotel! (Could get noisy at night though)
My husband and I stayed here for our Honeymoon earlier this month. From the very beginning, we were taken aback by the quality of service as well as the cleanliness and the general upkeep of the property. The inner portion of the hotel is a mini oasis! The newly renovated pool area is beautiful and truly had a tropical paradise feel to it. Upon arriving, our room was decorated with a banner across the door, fresh rose petals scatter across the bed/floor, champagne, a gift of Mr. & Mrs. coffee mugs, a plate of small desserts and a towel display set up in the shape of kissing swans. They decorated the room again on my birthday a few days later with a towel display in the shape of a layered cake and a cupcake with a birthday candle in it. We definitely felt like we got star treatment during our stay! The room itself was spacious and it felt very clean. The bed was comfortable and the walk-in shower was a great added feature. The one downside was the noise at night. We requested to be put on the other side of the hotel away from Coco Bongo, which they accommodated. However, there was a hostel directly outside of our room called The Yak that would get noisy around 11PM and wouldn’t settle down until 5-6am the next morning. We used complimentary ear plugs when we needed them and we also brought a white noise machine from home because we had read reviews about the noise issue. I can see why that would be a deal breaker for some people and it is the only reason I had to give this hotel 4 stars instead of 5. A hammock was already set up on our balcony and we spent hours in it during the early evening and on lazy days just relaxing and listening to the sounds of local birds and soft music playing from the bar/pool area. That balcony outside of our suite will forever be a “happy place” for us. They provided some form of pool-side entertainment each day whether it was a game of bingo for free cocktails or a saxophonist playing cover songs. The bar served food/drinks directly to our room or pool-side and we really liked the 2 for 1 drink special offered each afternoon. We were hooked on the daiquiris and margaritas. The steak nachos and ceviche where also good. We received a free 30-minute session in their new spa. The saunas and exfoliating scrub were very nice and the hydro therapy pool was relaxing. The hotel offers a great inclusive breakfast at the Brazilian restaurant next door with omelets made to order, fresh fruit and juices, an assortment of different carbs to choose from and a variety of other options to meet different cultural tastes. The restaurant also offers a big discount for dinner to guests of Magic Blue. The hotel staff was so pleasant and helpful! When we needed a little maintenance in our room, they were there in 20 minutes and fixed the issue immediately. The cleaning service attendants were very thorough and polite. Our room and balcony were spotless and after watching the way they clean and dust the outside of the railings and etc. constantly, I can see why. I want to give a special shout out to Manuel who went above and beyond by offering to take pictures of us on my birthday and working hard each time he saw us to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. We also loved Chuy who we looked forward to seeing every morning because she has such a beautiful smile and warm personality. Overall, we were very impressed and pleased with our stay. I would recommend this hotel and we plan on returning. Thank you for giving us such a spectacular hotel experience on our Honeymoon!
