We had purchased a week a Grand Solmar from an owner long before the Covid crisis hit. Since we love the JW and San Jose, we decided to split our time between the 2 resorts on this trip. Luckily for us, things opened up shortly before our arrival and shortly before the cases in our community started to rise. I feel like we timed our trip perfectly, but we were nervous about how Covid was going to be treated in Cabo. We never felt safer! I think if the US was implementing the measures that Cabo is taking we would not be in the situation we are in today. The JW greeted you with a temperature check, hand sanitizer and a shoe disinfecting wash. We quickly learned that this was the protocol for every place you enter in Cabo. All the staff wore masks and most of the guests did as well in the common areas. There were very few people at the resort, so social distancing was not a problem. They wrapped our steering wheel and gear shift with plastic whenever we left the car with the valet. One night, we ate in the outside restaurant and I felt we were being served by a hazmat team. Not complaining at all! Loved the safety measures they are taking for the guests and their staff. The JW is all about service. They hustle and are ready to fulfill your every wish. I've traveled all over the world and they offer some of the best service I have ever encountered. All the staff the works at the pool are the best. Luis at the front door is a wealth of information and has directed us to some hidden gems. While we were at the Grand Solmar, we took a cooking class at Los Tamarindos which is close to the JW. I highly recommend that activity. It was so much fun and a really neat environment (outside) to learn from their chef. We also ate dinner there a couple of times and it was excellent. Driving is easy in Cabo and much more affordable and gives you more freedom than paying for transportation. I highly recommend Cactus Car. We've been renting from them for years and they make it easy. If you're a golfer, the Puerto Los Cabos course is great with the culinary palapas. We have stayed several times at the Grand Solmar but over the past years have migrated more to San Jose and the JW. Between the two, the JW did a much better job with Covid. I never for a second felt unsafe and everyone seemed to be beating to the same drum, where the GS was a little more lax in areas. I would not hesitate at all to travel to the JW and Cabo in general. They are doing an excellent job and there are wipes, disinfecting spray and hand sanitizer in the stores. 2 of those things I can not find where I live in the US! We hope to see them again in October or November.
We came to this resort a minute before the start of COVID restrictions (March 2020) with our family (6 adults + 5 children) to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. What stands out about this resort is the SERVICE - you are spoiled by staff doing all they can to make you feel at home and happy. They provided us with adjoining rooms on the same floor; the food was fresh and amazing and there were options for kids, pescatorians and other whims; setting was perfect with pools for all + beach (NOT swimmable) and, staff were beyond kind and helpful. From the welcome with cool towel and delicious drink to farewell - we were made to feel like invited family. Location does require car transport to town (10 min drive) - Uber service available and much cheaper than taxi. Modifications were quickly made COVID warnings and it was evident guest & staff safety was paramount. I would return without hesitation.
During the pandemic the member rate was very reasonable for this 4.5 star luxury resort. We chose this resort to celebrate our 33 year wedding anniversary. The Ambassador Julio sent a wine bottle to our room. The view from the drop off area to the open lobby is amazing (ocean view). The staff were constantly promoted sanitary practices during my entire stay. Mask are highly encouraged but not enforced/harassed by management. The adult pool was peaceful and has terrific views. I would like to mention Gustavo and Miguel from the pool staff for their attentiveness, fast and incredible service . Always ready to provide us with beverages, food, and any additional request. The burgers at the pool bar are delicious. The prices on the property are comparable to most JW's resorts in the USA. Transportation to town is $40 round trip and $50 one way to the airport.
The resort is gorgeous! Staff was so attentive and friendly. We felt safe and the resort was very clean. Our room was beautiful. Very quiet and private. The pool staff was wonderful - Israel and Gustavo took great care of us. David Nunez at Ua was another helpful server. We can't wait to return!
Great Stay in Los Cabos!
Wonderful 6 night stay at the JW Marriott Los Cabos! The buildings, pools and grounds along with the ocean views were immaculate and beautiful! The hotel staff also did an amazing job at making our stay a GREAT one and everyone was very friendly. Special shout-out to the following folks that went above and beyond typical customer service: 1) Juan Ocampo, Guest Experience Mgr, did a wonderful job helping us during the stay and was very customer service oriented! 2) William and Rodrigo at the pool did an awesome job every day providing us with food, drinks and anything else we requested.
