Newer resort ~ 3 years of operation. Room for improvement for a 5 star resort.
The resort is very well designed and laid out. Being a new resort with less than 3 years, you can see that the condition and quality of the facilities is superb. The quality of the service from the personnel is outstanding starting from the bell boy as you arrive to the resort, to the room cleaning service, the maintenance people, the pool cleaner, the concierge, the servers and reception at the restaurants, the lifeguards and practically anyone and everyone at the resort. Trying to write names would be unjust for those I am not mentioning. I still would like to mention a few that were above and beyond: Uziel and Sergio from the Entertainment team, The entire team is amazing and are very dedicated to their job and good communicators and entertainers. Enrique the lifeguard at the top pool always alert and ready to help when needed. Gabriela in charge of the food program (nutritionist) is incredible, and she established the availability of Vegetarian and VEGAN (tasty and high end dishes) options at ALL restaurants. Jasmin at the Seasoul Seafood restaurant was outstanding, and she has incredible memory for guest names making you feel welcome every time you go to the restaurant, We ate there almost every lunch and 1 dinner. Damian at the Water Sports. Eduardo and Omar in UVC members services. The room had several maintenance issues that should have been fixed before we checked in. We called maintenance and they were fixed during our stay, but it should not happen for a 5 star resort. The introduction to the room amenities was not properly done. We did not know about additional storage until we discovered it the last day. The Room AC system was not explained properly and there is no signage in the room and as a result one day we had no AC due to the fact that the balcony door was not fully closed. We did not know of a rolling screen for the balcony and found the switch by coincidence ob the last day, The plaster coating at the pool closest to thee lobby has multiple locations that are peeling off (I have pictures to share if necessary). Restaurants: The seating at the restaurants is extremely slow with very long wait times when you can see that there are many empty tables, indicating that there is not enough personnel to attend the number of guests waiting to enter the restaurants and in multiple occasions we were told that there were 22+ parties waiting ahead of us if we wanted to be on the waiting list, or that the seating for the night was full and we had to go the a restaurant that was not our choice but had tables available. It must be due to the fact that October is consider low season and the hotel operators are cutting personnel to cut costs. In general, the restaurants have a large inside seating area and a small ouside seating area. The acoustics inside are not the best, so seating outside for us was a much better experience (Except for the French restaurant where the inside seating is small and quiet and goos for a romantic dinner). Allora: This is by far the best restaurant at the resort. Everything from the registration, the menu, the service, food quality, presentation, and more, is outstanding +. Bisou: We dined here twice. The first time we went with the seafood and the meat fixed menu (1 each). It was an amazing experience with a feast for all senses. The second time we selected the Vegan Menu (1 person) and a combination of the vegan / seafood / meat menus. The Vegan menu was great in the presentation of the dishes, but here is where it stopped. The taste was bland and lacked flavor, and one of the dishes had unpleasant taste. I had the seafood appetizer with the mussels and it was served cold. I then had the duck main dish and it was also served cold. Our second visit was a big disappointment. Ember: The main issue with this restaurant is that the inside area (main sitting area from the moment you enter the restaurant) has a strong odor of smoked meat that seems to be impregnated in the walls and furniture of the place, making it unpleasant even for a meat lover (not to mention to those who are not meat eaters like my wife who came with me and ate fish). We have been to the restaurant twice during non operating hours in presentations where the grill was not working, and the strong smell was very present. Luckily we sat at a table in the outside area during our meal. The meat menu for the main dish is limited to 2 included options, and many other options if you are willing to pay extra, and that was a big disappointment as I was expecting more from a meat oriented restaurant. Our service was not great and multiple times we had to repeat our requests as the server was not paying attention and was even looking in other directions and then asking us again the same question. This was the only restaurant where we experienced sub par service. Seasoul: Great seafood for lunch with vast Mexican flare selection, including catch of the day and fresh seafood, Great calamari and tacos. The dinned menu is said to be Mediterranean, and growing up with mediterranean cuisine I was not impressed with the options. I would recommend sticking with Lunch for this one, Suki: The Japanese / Sushi restaurant is well designed, including bar seating. The appetizers were very good, and when moving to the sushi rolls they were average. They do have other options that we did not get to try, including sashimi. Bamboo: Plant based mainly Vegan options restaurant open for lunch, well presented and good variety of options for those who prefer plant based food. Dark Horse Bar: This is a Sports Bar with plenty of large screen TV’s, Karaoke and full bar service. The second story has 2 foosball tables that saw better says and are poorly maintained, The bars are hard to move and the surface is not plane make the ball go i unexpected directions into deeps and valleys. The pool table is decent. There is also a virtual golf range. It would be nice to have a couple of soft tip dart boards too. Market Caffe: This is the buffet place. It is huge and has impressive options and selection of food to satisfy any diet and desire. This is true for Breakfast as well as for lunch. We are not big fans of Buffet dining, but if you are you will sure love it. Coco's Caffe: This i a coffee place open 24/7. You can order any hot or cold coffee / tee drinks and smoothies. The baked / pastry product are not great, (to say the least), and this is in contrast to the quality of the baked deserts at the specialty restaurants. I have been to Coco’s Caffe at other Secrets resorts and this was was the one with the lowest quality of bakery. Spa: The Hydrotherapy circuit is very basic. There is no relaxation area made available after the treatment other than the lounge chairs next to the pool. The pressure of the jets in the jacuzzi is very weak and the water temperature is low. The pressure of the jets in the circuit is very low and limited. Have been to other hydrotherapy circuits at other Secret resorts and it was much better. The theater: We went to all shows at the theater. It is of high quality and the level of 3 of the shows was on par with Las Vegas shows: Elements, Quirky, and Circus night. The Dance Club - The Pharmacy: The sound system and the laser/ led lights are super professional, with well placed seating areas too. Highy recommended if you like dancing, which opens every night. The beach is under “transformation”, with big sand bags creating wave breakers intended to catch the sand and expend the sand area. The shoreline was not originally sandy, and when you go into the water you can step on rocks and roots, so I recommend you war water shoes. The sand on the beach was brought to the place and it will improve once more sand piles up.

Excellent from start to finish. So much to explore, eat and drink. It has been like living in a luxury mexican bubble for a week. Thank you to the incredible team in all departments and special mention to Jose and Miguel in the entertainment team.

Better than expected
We were beyond pleased with our stay. The resort is beautifully designed. Several pools and areas to lounge so you never felt crowded. Incredible food, and drink offerings all over the resort. Well appointed views with high-quality linens and finishes. We had the swim out room which was extremely luxurious as we were able to enjoy our own private pool. Concierge was helpful and helping us to plan a Tulum/cenote/snorkel and scuba dive. We visited over Halloween. Many of the staff dressed up and even provided a haunted house. Making for a very fun day. We are already planning our next trip!

Entertainment team is Great
Sergio and Miguel on the entertainment team were fantastic and made our week a remarkable experience. The way they interact with all of the guests here is awesome. The hospitality of all of the other workers is also great. They made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped out of the car that brought us
