    WE GLEANED THE GOOD

A memory from Iberostar Waves Cozumel July Fourth, under a different kind of sky We arrived with open hearts and sand already in our shoes. Check-in was smooth— a chilled drink in hand, the air thick with hibiscus and possibility. The grounds welcomed us with color: thatched-roof villas in Mayan hues, meandering jungle paths beneath sun-dappled canopies, and the music of birds and breeze and distant waves. Everywhere we walked felt like we were stepping into something sacred— a sanctuary stitched from vines, laughter, and the scent of earth after rain. There were moments: Sunrise yoga while the world was still. A dive into cobalt-blue coral cathedrals, led by calm, capable guides at Dressel Dive. We swam with the sea, not against it. The food was abundant—hot, rich, beautiful. Margaritas (no salt) in hand. Cuban rum with cola in the other. Desserts like small, edible spells. And the music— A cover band with joy in their bones, singing our songs back to us in voices filled with charm and rhythm. We danced barefoot in gratitude, under fire-lit skies. The beach was a painting we stepped into daily. Huts for shade. Loungers for dreams. We watched couples take golden-hour portraits, watched children laugh through snorkels, watched the ocean become a mirror. There were coatis. Lizards. Curious birds. All of them fellow travelers in this enchanted world. And there was Yoania— a bright thread woven through each meal, greeting us with a name, a smile, and the kind of warmth that stays with you. Time moved differently there. Slower. Sweeter. We stayed a week. It felt like a memory before it was over. ⸻ Tips (From One Dreamer to Another): — Download the Iberostar App. Your daily compass—menus, events, rituals. — Claim your beach hut early. 8 AM with a towel, like a secret sign. — Bring small bills. Gratitude should be visible. — Say yes to the dives. Even if you’re nervous. Especially then. — Let the performers pull you on stage. Your body remembers joy. — Smile back at the coatis. They’re watching. — Glean the good. Always. Carry only what glows.

    Awesome all inclusive resort

Iberostar was an amazing resort for me and my fiancé to stay in Cozumel! The food was delicious and all staff were helpful and kind! Rufino was especially helpful when booking a rental car for the day! Highly recommend this resort for your stay in Cozumel.

    Cozumel rocks

What a lovely resort in such a natural setting with coaties, lizards, all sort of birds keeping company to its guest. Location is perfect on the beautiful Carribean sea! Thanks to Jesse and his fantastic colleagues for making us feeling at home.

Mixed Experience: Great Pool, Disappointing Beach, Spa and Room

Water/Beach: This rocky shallow beach offers a unique experience for kids to snorkel, however the water is shallow, the water clarity is limited with a greenish tint and boat traffic. Water can be entered only from the pier. Too shallow even from there. Swimmers seeking crystal-clear clean turquoise deep water to swim will be disappointed. Rooms: the room's compact size was a challenge, the lack of a mirror outside the restroom was inconvenient. The pillows were uncomfortable, and the synthetic bedsheets didn't breathe well, causing me to overheat during the night. I was also initially puzzled by the temperature fluctuations in the room, but it became clear that the air conditioning, fan and light were on motion sensors, which would turn them off when I stopped moving or fell asleep, which wasn't ideal when sleeping in bed without moving. I understood the issue when I was reading inside without moving and my light, fan and AC shut down. The curtains didn't provide complete blackout coverage, and the gaps around the door let in additional light. Given these factors, I think the room might be better suited for solo occupancy, as it felt a bit cramped for two people. Note, that I paid extra to be placed closer to the beach, assuming also the rooms should be better, however it seems they are all the same. Drinking bottled water is not provided in the rooms. Instead, guests are given empty glass bottles that can be filled at designated water stations. The convenience of accessing filtered water varies depending on the building location, with some buildings having filters on site and others requiring guests to travel to a nearby location to refill their bottles. Food: The dining options offer Japanese, Mexican, and Smoke House, in addition to a buffet. While the Smoke House option didn't meet expectations, the buffet provided a more satisfying experience, albeit located at a distance from the beach. Breakfast is served at a single restaurant, which is also somewhat removed from the beach area. Lunch location is close to the beach. The drinks and coffee are of good quality. Desserts across the venues is consistently impressive, matching the high standards found at other hotels on the island. However you wouldn’t feel the same warm hospitality as in other places. Spa: I would strongly advise against getting a haircut at this resort's spa. My experience with the spa's haircut service was extremely disappointing. The stylist cut my hair without shampooing it first and didn't bother to style or adjust the cut afterwards. The result was a disaster – uneven lengths and a poor shape that looked even worse when I tried to style it with a hair dryer after returning from the beach. I ended up in tears halfway through styling. Having gone to salons for haircuts and styling every week since I was 6, I'm well-versed in distinguishing a good haircut from a bad one. However, I thought perhaps the stylist had a different cutting style, so I didn't say anything except ask if she was cutting layers as requested and shown in the picture. To fix the mess, I had to find a local stylist in town on my way to the airport the next morning, who spent two hours repairing the damage. Not only did I have to pay extra, but I also lost a significant amount of my beautiful hair length. The local stylist charged me three times less for the corrected haircut and styling and did a far better job. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend the spa's haircut service to anyone. Prices are more expensive than in any other hotel. The resort credit, which is a mere $25 off a $100+ single purchase – hardly a generous perk. The resort offers an experience, with good amenities and activities, particularly around the pool area. However, the rooms and beach may not meet expectations. If you prioritize poolside relaxation and don't rely on the beach or ocean experience, this resort might still be a good fit.

Very convenient for diving but resort like Butlins on steroids most of the time

Great location with quick and easy access to southern Cozumels Marine park dive sites in a natural setting with some interesting wildlife. Dive operation convenient and good but a touch industrial (crowded boats etc). Decent rooms, good food on the buffets (breakfast/lunch/dinner). Al a carte restaurants size/booking process and food quality need improvement/a lot of improvement. Ok overall four star ish resort....would have preferred a more upmarket/cooler/quieter vibe.
