Misa - excellent service! Genuinely a beautiful person

Misa is the heartbeat of this resort and we’ve been coming down for 5 years, my son a few years more, to pay him a visit. He is extremely thoughtful n set up a meal for us to enjoy - food was amazing n his service, excellent. He paired the wine with each course n it was an amazing experience. He's become like family.

SAFETY WARNING: Don't take your family here

SAFETY WARNING: Food Hazards, Fire Alarm Failures, and Deceptive Sales Tactics I am writing this to warn other travelers—particularly families—about the systemic safety and service failures at Iberostar Selection Paraíso Maya Suites. My recent stay (Feb 2–5, 2026) was a series of health hazards and deceptive practices that management refused to remediate. SEVERE HEALTH & SAFETY RISKS Food Safety: I observed high-risk perishables (sushi) being served at room temperature on the buffet, placed directly next to hot plates without ice. Room service was inedible and arrived smelling rancid. Fire Safety: The fire alarm in our room malfunctioned and triggered repeatedly due to standard steam from the shower. Front desk admitted this is a known "technical fault" but offered no fix or room change, resulting in total sleep deprivation. 2. DECEPTIVE "RESORT CREDIT" SCAM Do not book based on the "$400 Resort Credit" offer. These credits are a "bait-and-switch." They fail to disclose that the credits can only be used in $25 increments for every $100 spent. To use the "free" $400, you are forced to spend an additional $1,600+ at the resort. This is not a "credit"; it is a coupon for an upcharge. 3. SUBSTANDARD ACCOMMODATIONS Despite the "Suites" branding, our room was constantly damp and cold. Housekeeping was non-existent until after 3:30 PM, and the noise from the floors above was unmanaged. The "Exclusive Member" areas are a joke; they are not monitored or enforced, leaving no seating for those who actually paid for the status. MANAGEMENT RESPONSE: I raised these concerns daily while on property. Management ignored me until check-out and has since refused any refund, offering only a "room upgrade" for a future stay. I will never return to an Iberostar property. STAY AWAY. This resort prioritizes predatory sales over basic guest safety and honesty.

Amazing Resort Because of People Like Misa

This is the fifth consecutive year I’ve brought my family to Iberostar Paraiso Maya. The scenery is stunning. The property is lined in mangroves with local wildlife and well-manicured paths to explore. The Maya rooms are spacious and clean with room service available until 11pm. Both the pool and beach areas showcase entertainment throughout the day with multiple full-service bars, snack stations (think ice cream, burgers, salads). There’s a lazy river, water slides, and shopping center with golf carts to transport you when you don’t feel like walking. All of this scenery will generate an appetite, and this is when you can stop by one of multiple al a carte options, coffee shops, a creperie, or expansive buffets. However, this is also where you’ll interact with the staff that truly make this resort great and bring us back each year. Specifically, Misa who is currently at Under the Sea is a perfect example of an individual who enhances your experience. Last night we decided to visit the poolside seafood restaurant, Under the Sea, for dinner. Misa immediately recognized us upon entering. We first met at the steakhouse, El Rancho, and Misa has since shifted. Misa proceeded to create an incredible experience from the moment we sat down. Wine was expertly paired with each course. Cocktails were suggested (including a mocktail for my daughter). Misa was attentive, kind, and accommodating. This is what we’ve come to look forward to. Last night’s experience at Under the Sea with Misa was more than a dinner, and it’s a primary reason we will be back next year. Thank you Misa for continuously exceeding expectations and making us feel like a valued guest and friend.

Great Experience for family w/ Celiacs

We had a wonderful trip to Iberostar Maya. We are a family with three young children, my husband and I, and my parents. We've been to Mexico and other resorts many times (Barcelo and Riu Palace) and felt Iberostar was a better experience. We specifically choose this resort because our kids all have celiac and require gluten free food with no cross contamination. This was our first international trip since their diagnosis and everything could not have gone better. Ximena and Yessica were absolutely essential to the trip being a success. They took the kids' orders for 2-3 meals ahead of time to ensure the food would be available at the buffets and specialty restaurants where we intended to eat that day. They also gave us tours of the buffets to understand what was available gluten-free. For breakfast the kids got gluten free crepes, pancakes, waffles, churros, eggs, and bacon all prepared for them in the kitchen to ensure no cross contamination at the buffet. For lunches and dinners they had breaded chicken cutlets, french fries, and pastas with a variety of sauces (Bolognese, pesto, butter, alfredo). We did often have to wait at least 20 minutes for the food to be prepared after we arrived at the restaurants, but this was manageable. THANK YOU Ximena and Yessica for making this trip safe for our children. Apart from the food, we loved the beach, wave pool, and all the animals we saw daily! The animals were definitely a highlight for all of us. Our room was also very clean and comfortable. At the mall the kids enjoyed the playground. I will be recommending this resort to our friends!

Tony the Tiger is the man

Tony the Tiger was a giant help. He provided me and a map and explained the layout of the resort and provided many important details regarding the benefits of being an IHG member. He was very respectful and polite.
