⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five-Star Family Win (and Then Some)
We just wrapped up a family Christmas stay at Iberostar Selection Paraíso Maya Suites, and honestly? This place understood the assignment. We stayed in a two-room family suite, and the space was huge. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out without stepping on each other’s flip-flops. The air conditioning actually works (a non-negotiable in this climate), everything was spotless, and housekeeping was next-level awesome, like, magically clean every time we came back. The beach is gorgeous: soft sand, great waves, and lifeguards on duty, which made relaxing with kids a whole lot easier. Bonus points for the beach snack shack serving ice cream all day. Yes, all day. Dreams do come true. Let’s talk food, because wow. Everything we tried was fantastic, but the standout was the lobster thermidor at the the French restaurant, resort dining that genuinely punches above its weight. This was not “good for an all-inclusive.” This was just good. One of the most unexpected highlights was the wildlife on the property. We saw coatis, spider monkeys, peacocks, cats, and capybaras just casually roaming around. It felt like a resort-meets-nature documentary, and the kids were obsessed. The spa deserves a shoutout too, quiet, relaxing, and the massage was excellent. The kind where you forget what day it is and briefly consider canceling your return flight. Bottom line: this resort nails comfort, cleanliness, food, and fun without trying too hard. Perfect for families, but still relaxing enough that adults don’t feel like they’re on a field trip. We’d absolutely come back, no hesitation, no fine print.

Disappointing
Iberostar Riviera Maya – Very Disappointing Experience We stayed at Grand Palladium Riviera Maya in August and loved it so much it was our second visit. Four months later, we decided to try Iberostar Riviera Maya. Unfortunately, the difference in quality was dramatic—and disappointing. Biggest issues: • Aggressive sales tactics: Almost every interaction with staff turned into a push to sell club memberships—even when asking basic questions. This included shuttle drivers. It became so uncomfortable that we avoided staff altogether. During heavy rain, a shuttle driver completely ignored us when we tried to stop—no eye contact, no acknowledgment. Shockingly rude. • Freezing pools: The pools were uncomfortably cold, and very few guests were actually in the water. • Beach & towel chaos: Not enough beach chairs unless you wake up around 6 a.m. The towel system is overly complicated—specific drop-off points by color. We were once told to walk far back because the towels were the “wrong color.” Completely unnecessary and guest-unfriendly. • Useless app & restaurant reservations: We were 7 guests in 3 rooms, and the app couldn’t handle it. The only way to book restaurants was to physically be in the lobby at 7:30 a.m. every day—no phone, no help. Waking up early and standing in line on vacation is unacceptable. At Grand Palladium, reservations were easy and made in advance via the app. • Food & drink service: No coffee in the room and no coffee anywhere once the buffet closes. No poolside service at all—you must stand in line for drinks or food. No alcohol service by the pool. • Poor entertainment: Constant yelling by the pool that you couldn’t escape. No special events or beach parties. Entertainment felt amateur and low-quality. Overall: ⭐️⭐️ Iberostar Riviera Maya – 2 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ Grand Palladium Riviera Maya – 4.5 stars We will happily return to Grand Palladium, but we will not return to Iberostar.

Best family vacation!
We are sadly leaving the Maya Suites and wish we could extend our trip. My mom, who is 80 and in a wheelchair, got around super easy as this resort is very wheelchair friendly. The staff would pick us up whenever we needed a ride. My 8 year old niece didn’t even want to hang out with us because she loved the kids camp so much! The food was great and you only needed reservations at a handful of restaurants which was great because we could eat whenever we wanted to on that particular day. Waits for the other restaurants weren’t bad at all. Thank you for making our family vacation so special! We loved it so much we even joined your club❤️ We will see you again soon!🥳

Special Italian Evening at the Restaurant
I wanted to specifically write about the Olivetti Trattoria and in particular our waitress Mary. She was very efficient, welcoming, and attentive to our needs during a delicious meal. The food was very good, meeting our expectations but her care in service and checking exactly when we might need something without being oppressive showed her skill at her job. Thank you Mary, for helping to make the evening special.

The best week with Family!
Felt inclined to leave a review because of what a wonderful experience we had here this week. Incredible food, staff, drinks, and overall experience. We were first booked with Lindo and they asked if we’d like an upgrade to Maya and given the better rooms and more to do, we obliged. They did give a great price for the 4 nights we were there! The room was amazing with a king bed, bunk beds, ceiling fans, with a private pool area right by the water park. The wildlife was incredible we loved watching the coaita try to steal food, the peacocks and iguana were awesome as well. We spent most of the days by the beach where Hugo and his buddy were awesome and made the best drinks. The one downside is that there is not service at your seats which we’re used to, but it was a quick walk to the bar. The bar food was great as a snack, but wish they changed it up a bit from burgers, but the kids enjoyed it. The food was awesome at every restaurant we definitely kept saying how good the food was. The reservation situation with the steak and Japanese restaurants was a let down there was absolutely nothing and when we called concierge to help they did nothing with no follow up as they told us reservations open on Wednesday- there needs to be a better system here so everyone can enjoy. The mall with shows and activities was so great for kids along with Star camp.. wow what a great perk, our kids loved it we got to enjoy a day together along with a date night. The grounds themselves were beautiful and well kept and we never had to fight for a seat. One recommendation is to update the app with a map of some kind, an interactive map would be so helpful.. it’s easy to get lost! Overall, we can’t wait to be back we had the best experience and no one was pushy to sell us anything we said no thank you and that was it. Thanks for the best week!
