Nice family holiday
The hotel is beautiful and very clean. I loved the filtered water. I did not care for the buffet, the eggs were weird and the dinner options limited. The juice selection in the morning was wonderful. Of the other restaurants I tried, most were outstanding. I was frustrated with the reservation system as despite staying for 9 days, I was unable to reserve the steakhouse which I was excited about. I talked to the concierge, but they were no help. The beverages are top notch, and Johnie is amazing. If you want something stronger, just go to the main bar inside. Now the bad, I was charged for my 14 year old as an adult, despite the fact that he couldn’t do any adult activities (gym, archery). Additionally, my last full day there I stepped in a pool filter lid, which was not secured appropriately causing me to drop 2 feet down. I somehow managed to walk away with only some minor scratches and a sever bruise that 3 weeks later is still prominent and bruising. Still…it was captured by first aid, I’m surprised there was no follow up from management to assure I was okay. Lastly, we were there during the rainy season. It was so muggy that there was water on our floor. The room was otherwise nice, even if the beds were to hard for me to sleep comfortably.

Beautiful place, great food, horrendous customer service.
Hotel was lovely, food was great, the golf course course is in truly spectacular condition, the beach is beautiful… so there are lots of things to like about this place. HOWEVER, unfortunately the staff was incredibly disappointing. I had a particularly unpleasant experience with Nancy who worked at the door of the Italian restaurant. She told us to wait 5 minutes before confirming if she can put us on the waiting list. We waited 25 minutes and then preceded to argue with me about that fact. It was a little bit embarrassing having a disagreement with someone in front of other guests.. clearly she did not subscribe to a ‘customer first’ mentality. I would however say the staff at the golf course were the worst. Jesus in the pro shop, and the ladies working alongside him were SO unhelpful. They genuinely made you feel bad for asking a question. The general feeling you got was that it is a chore to assist. When you’re on holiday, the least you expect are people to be friendly, and helpful. But frankly, outside of the ‘odd person’, the staff were pretty terrible. It’s a huge shame because the golf course is so amazing, but the people working in the Bar and pro shot ruined the experience. The other thing I noticed about Iberostar Cancun is that their systems are genuinely ancient. Every time you make a booking, or try and purchase something, it takes about 10 minutes because they are using some legacy system. Checking into golf in the mornings took about 10 minutes which seems a bit bizarre. I did do the hotel the courtesy of asking to speak to the hotel manager to let him know I was going to write this review and to share some of my frustrations… my hope in doing so was to give them an opportunity to address the pleasant experiences we had. He asked for our room numbers and told us that he will make it up to us. Guess what? Never received a thing, or ever heard from him again. And that pretty much sums up the hotel. Terrible customer service / experience which clearly stems from the top. If it wasn’t for the beauty, quality food, beautiful course course, beach etc…. I would give this a 1 star. The aesthetics saves it. Would I come again? Probably not.

Felt more like a trashy spring break location due to unadvertised swimsuit competition all week long.
This was our 3rd trip to this resort. We had a good time as we do no matter where we go, but this time we had a less than favorable experience. We had no idea when we booked months prior that this exact week we chose the Resort was hosting a swimsuit competition. There were very provocatively dressed (even for the beach) models all over having photo shoots done. We were not able to enjoy the sunsets or sunrises on the beach because they were out there every morning and evening shooting. They were also all around the pools and resort throughout the week having photos done in very inappropriate poses in front of families. One day there was an inflatable obstacle course set up in the pool for the kids. Everyone was having so much fun cheering the kids on, but then the whole group (at least 50) of the 'models' showed up and took it over. All their photographers were gathered around snapping pics. Most of the families left that pool for the day. Felt like we were being ran out and they were taking over. This is suppose to be a family friendly resort, but it felt more like a trashy Spring Break location this time. We didn't have little ones with us this time but I would have been furious if we had. There's no way people's kids weren't being photographed without their permission. The resort should have some sort of schedule made public that would have shown this type of event. For this reason, next time we will find a different resort to enjoy.
