    Excellent Staff!

My vacation was cut short because of COVID-19 border issues, but the time I was able to stay at this hotel was incredible, right when I checked in I was helped by Daniel Sanchez who was so helpful and attentive, he answered all my questions and was very understanding of some personal situation that was going on so he was able to check me in early. Everyone gave outstanding service. The hotel was amazing I will definitely go back in the near future.

    Swim out suite!!

What a beautiful vacation. Iberostar never disappoints which is why this is the only hotel chain I frequent. We booked the swim out suite and let me tell you.... this is the way to go. My comparisons for this review is the ib bavaro, ib maya and ib grand. The room was spacious for two, we used the pull out couch as a bed as well as the king size bed that was in the room. The pull out couch was slightly more comfortable than the bed. The couch was a little uneven but I used some throw pillows to even it up. Iberostar could benefit from some softer mattresses because our usual beds are memory foam and these beds don’t have a lot of give. Other than that the room was great. You cannot beat being right on the beach. The food was great. We did book the hibachi and the steak house. The hibachi was fine.. steak house was forgettable. My favorite place was the Buffett...breakfast lunch and dinner although we were hardly hungry for lunch because breakfast was so good. They had fresh fruit every day and added different things every day like a big bowl of blackberries and fresh strawberries and mangos and cactus pears, the list goes on and on. Meals were awesome. Entertainment was ok. Shows were a little painful. They need to do more audience interactive shows, the singing and dancing are fine but mix it up a little. We basically called it a night half way through the shows because they were old and boring. Overall great place to vacation and I will definitely be back!

Hygiene issue at the restaurant-Basic food handling flaw

My wife and I were at the buffet restaurant having breakfast and I was shocked when this incident happened... I noticed the chef at the egg counter offered a guest to put the bacon from their plate on the same place where she was making an omelette for me. This is believe is very Basic food handling hygiene.. and mind you , this is happening at the peak of the corona virus pandemic. I had a very pleasant stay but this incident has really left me feeling disappointed and worried about what goes on in the kitchen where no one is watching.

    AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE!

What an incredible resort! We booked a beach front villa with a private pool and were absolutely amazed! The entire resort was perfection. The grounds were immaculate and I discovered a new area I loved everyday we were there. The pool areas and cabanas and thatched huts were phenomenal! The staff was incredible, too! From housekeeping to bar service to the restaurant personnel, I was thrilled! Carolina took care of us beach side like we were royalty and Wilson at the restaurant was so welcoming and accommodating, I didn’t want to leave. We will be back! I loved every minute!

    Great Vacation

Hello friends! I (M32), my wife (F35) and our daughter (F5) just returned from a week at an all inclusive in cancun and wanted to share a hodgepodge review/thoughts write up. I’ve never written a travel review before but I’ll try and get across as much useful information and observations as I can, as I couldn’t get a ton of info on this particular resort before leaving. Nothing will be in order and I can’t promise it’ll all be sensible, but here goes nothing. WIND! If you don’t like wind, this may not be the spot for you. We may have gotten a bad batch of weather, but we also had one day out of seven that had wind speeds less than 15km hr. As a result keeping towels on chairs, and made swimming a bit of a cold endeavour for a few of the days. Kids Our daughter had a blast. There’s a kids club there and most areas of the resort are kid friendly. The staff at the kids club were fantastic and it runs until 9:30 at night. Pools I enjoyed the pools, but was a tiny bit disappointed by them too. From the pitctures before you go there appears to be pools everywhere, but many are actually just water features mixed in amongst the pools. The water also isn’t heated (or they weren’t heating it) so on the real windy days only the bravest individuals were in the water. The kids pool is fantastic, with lots of playgrounds and slides, but again because of no heat and the wind my daughter never wanted to stay in it as she was cold Room The room was decent but dated. Our tub was rusty and the toilet didn’t flush well. We also had to ask twice for extra blankets. Beds were comfy. Food The buffet was great, and we did two restaurants, the hibachi, Mexican and steakhouse. The hibachi food was meh, and the show felt forced and tacky. The Mexican and steakhouse were both 9/10 for food, and the setting/view in the Mexican restaurant was a peak of the trip, it’s incredible. 24 hr room service was nice but the food wasn’t that good. We also found it hard to get drinkable coffee, but please take that with a grain of salt as we are coffee snobs Hotel The building is grand, and having a drink in the lobby bar with 9 open stories above you is very nice. However one of the elevators was down, and that meant LONG waits going up or down, and there’s only one stairwell that reminded me of what a used ashtray would be like if a genie turned it into a stairwell. A grumpy old man told me he heard it had been out of service for six months, but I didn’t put too much stock into that as I also spotted him staring angrily at inanimate objects at other points during the trip. The grounds were large and well laid out, it felt nice to walk around and explore Staff/service The staff were very attentive and polite if also a tad too professional. This place is big, and it can make you feel much more anonymous to everyone, which can be a positive or negative depending on what you like. I had memories of my last cancun visit 13 years ago, getting to know the bartenders and other staff, and that didn’t happen here. I’ll take this opportunity to shout out the star camp (kids club) employees, as my daughter got this relationship with them. Entertainment There was tons. They always had activities/contests going on around the pool during the day, and at 9:30 every night they have a show in the massive outdoor theatre, and we loved them all. Some were cornier than others, but all were very entertaining and had 5-20 staff doing some pretty decent skill level stuff. Also the kids club activities were solid, and they did cool stuff like cooking/baking, scavenger hunts and such Surrounding area Not walk friendly, we stayed on the resort Ocean There were warning flags every day to not go in the ocean because of the size of the waves. The sand was amazing, but not being able to swim was a serious bummer Booze We are not heavy drinkers, but we couldn’t go many places without someone coming up and offering us a beverage, and it never took them long to get back. We never felt far from food or drink, and the only lines we really experienced were for omelettes in the morning Booking we got this flight through BMOrewards, and it was all done by air transat. Air transat was a delight, and we didn’t have to try very hard to get aboard transit or with anything, they had it all organized and were very pleasant. As for BMO when we booked this trip it was advertised as a five star, and when we got sent our details a few weeks later it was a 4.5. I’m not too upset as we paid what you should for a 4.5, but I wasn’t super excited that happened My rating for the whole thing was 8.5/10. We will be looking elsewhere for our next vacation just for the wind alone, but we had a very relaxing time and the resort was very solid.
