    Best hotel

Just came back yesterday and not sure why there is bad reviews on this hotel but keep in mind this is an old hotel. From all the resorts we had been, this one is in my top 3 ! It is so family friendly, for kids of all ages. My kids are 2 and 7 months and we were able to access everywhere with the strollers, even the beach. BEACH AND POOL: Beach is so nice, there is a section that has handicap access next to the beach bar so going with the stroller was amazing. They even have chairs with umbrella reserved for strollers and wheelchairs. The kids pool is fun with lots of slides and water games. Even my 7 months was able to crawl in the water and enjoy it. There is also an adult pool that is very nice and quiet but kids can swim there too. Also there is the big pool where they make most entertainment. ROOMS: The bathroom door does not close fully and does not have a lock. I had to block the door with something so my daughter doesn’t go in while husband showering. The pillows are too high and not so comfortable. We were ground floor with a terrasse with beach view so walking to the beach took 30 seconds. Room 1291 for reference. It was an upgraded room. Bathroom is good and shower is big. In 1 week I found 2 big cockroaches in the bathroom which gave me a heart attack but I guess normal. Blocked the shower drain with a towel since they come out of there specifically when it rains at night. FOOD: Buffet food is good, some days better than others depending on the theme of the night. Steakhouse was sold out the day we arrived but you can have steak at the buffet which is delicious. Always fresh fruits available. Was scared to try the burgers at the snack bar because of some of the reviews about being raw but you just have to tell them to cook more. They are so tasty wish I tried from the start. There is a coffee shop reminds me of Starbucks with a display of sandwiches and desserts. There is also an ice cream shop next to the pool. STAFF AND HOTEL: The staff is so friendly !! They have golf carts that you can order to go around the hotel grounds. They have an app where you do all the bookings, room service and even request stuff. For example, we requested from the kids section a potty for the toilet, step tool, baby bathtub, dental kit, etc.. You can also chat with the service desk and ask whatever you want. Check out was at 12 but we paid 20$ an hour and extended until 2pm to enjoy until last minute. They don’t offer plastic water bottles but you do have empty glass bottles in the room that you can fill from several filtered water station all around the hotel. Water was so good.

    Good stay

Margarita was phenomenal and provided exceptional service throughout our stay. She and JoAlissa (not sure how to spell it) even decorated our room for a birthday!

    Beautiful beach

The beach the hotel sits on is one of the best we’ve ever seen - beautiful turquoise waters and soft powdery sand. Not over crowded and very close to a bar for drinks and snacks. The grounds were immaculate and beautifully lit in the evening. The staff who swept the beach each day work hard to eliminate all the seaweed before you wake up. Sunrise is beautiful! The only reasons this doesn’t score higher 1) the activities we expected weren’t as described and often didn’t go ahead per the schedule (eg no football or volleyball even though it was on the board each day) and 2) there were very few good English speaking, most were Spanish speaking which made it very difficult for our kids in particular to make friends to play with. For such a large hotel available on TUI we expected at least a few British speaking families! The fact that smoking is allowed took a bit of getting used to but didn’t cause a problem very often, we just moved when it did. Front desk were brilliant at handling an upgrade to an oceanfront room for us. Key to the room is programmed onto the wristband which is genius - no searching for the card! Very little opportunity or facilities for football so if you have a teenage boy who makes hates on holiday playing footie this may not happen here! Rooms fairly basic but ok. Drinks always seemed good. Gym was pretty impressive. Massage on the beach was actually better than in the spa staff although the spa experience is lovely. Be aware of what you’re in for if you attend the presentation breakfast for the vacation club - it’s a good way to get free golf / massage but can take a few hours. Golf course was superb, really enjoyable course with multiple tee options. Compulsory buggy’s but allowed on the fairways. Bunkers (105!)did let the course down a bit but other than that it was one of the nicest we’ve played. The staff in the pro shop could do with being a bit more friendly/hellful, although Evelyn was great. Sophie in the main restaurant looked after us very well each day. And Juan in the Japanese was lots of fun! Jairo our concierge was lovely always greeted us with a smile and booked our restaurants for us. All in all we’d recommend and if golf is important this course is great a small 3 minute drive provided by the hotel. Beach is the best bit. Entertainment probably better if you were Spanish speaking maybe although admittedly lots of Americans did start arriving and getting involved. If you’re going for golf book your tee times well in advance it gets very booked up you may not get a game otherwise, especially in the mornings. We used Angela from travel counsellors who was brilliant! Angela Taylor Travel on Facebook in uk

Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites vacation 02/01/26 - 02/08/26

Overall, **Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites** was a great resort, and I’ll break down the experience below. **Food:** The food was very good. Both the buffet and the à la carte restaurants were enjoyable. One caution — be careful ordering burgers on the beach, as several guests received them undercooked. **Service & Entertainment:** The service was outstanding — honestly some of the best I’ve experienced at any resort. Staff regularly took drink orders on the beach and during entertainment, which made a big difference. The entertainment itself was also excellent. **Convenience:** No towel cards were required, which was a nice touch. Room access was also convenient — instead of key cards, a transmitter in the bracelet unlocked the door automatically. **Beach & Pool:** The beach was huge, very clean, and had plenty of palapas and chairs. The pool was also very well designed and never felt overcrowded. **Areas for Improvement:** The rooms felt a bit dated. I also didn’t like the pressure to attend timeshare presentations. When we arrived, we quickly booked the à la cartes and were told the Italian restaurant wasn’t available — which didn’t make much sense. Guests should have the opportunity to experience all restaurants, especially when only three require reservations and the others are first-come, first-served. The only way we were initially offered the Italian restaurant was by following an employee to a room where a timeshare presentation was clearly being pushed. We eventually secured a reservation after repeatedly asking, but no one wants to feel hassled while on vacation. Overall, it’s a very good resort. While I wouldn’t rate it 5/5, I would comfortably give it a **4/5**.

Iberostar Bavaro is a must visit!!

My husband and I stayed at Iberostar Bavaro with 3 other couples a few weeks ago. I cannot say enough about the location, the staff and the cleanliness of this resort. Manny was our main contact and he literally was at our beck and call! He spoke great English (which was a bit tough to find) and was able to accommodate our every need. I highly recommend this location and would definitely go again.
