Ibiza party vibes in the heart of Playa!
Just came back from Hyatt Centric downtown house with my husband and 7 year old son. I was a little hesitant to book this place due to some of the mixed reviews but we loved it! I was not certain if it was adults only or not but it is family friendly - I think maybe it had been adults only in the past. You really are in the heart of Playa and close to everything. We absolutely loved the vibes of the rooftop pool and the beach views. There were DJs all day every day and the music was amazing if you like house/dance/electronic etc. And the pool had shallow areas which is perfect for kids. However if you are looking for quiet relaxation, this is probably not the place for you and you might enjoy Beach House better. The music here is loud all day every day and there are parties at night. Plus the hotel is right above nightclubs on 5th and they play loud bumping music until 3-4am. It didn't bother us terribly and we were able to sleep. But if you are a light sleeper you might not prefer it. The room itself was a nice size and well appointed, no complaints there. This place would probably not be everyone's cup of tea but if you are a young couple or family and/or want a lively atmosphere with Ibiza party vibes then you will love it. We had a great time and would definitely come back. P.S. If you have never been to Playa just a heads up the beach there is just so-so. If you want pristine white sand beach, take the ferry to Cozumel. Its a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Great family stay and rooftop pool
My family and I had a great stay! The hotel is central to all the fun and right next to the Main Street. There were tons of dining options and shopping, even though we spent most days at the rooftop pool. Poolside drinks and snacks were very enjoyable.

Beautiful Beachfront Location - Steps from 5th Street Shopping & Restaurants
My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Centric Beach House property. Location is the absolute best, steps from vibrant 5th Street shopping & restaurants. Maritza in reservations helped us with a spacious king bed room and a balcony overlooking the pool and partial ocean view to enjoy evening cocktails, really wonderful! The weather was a bit windy so we weren't able to enjoy the beautiful pool and beach area as much as we were hoping but found great excursions on Viator with pickups right from the hotel and did a day trip to Cozumel with the ferry a quick 10-15 minute walk. The staff was friendly and helpful with local tips that made our stay memorable. We had the American breakfast included in our package and it was the perfect way to start each day with an amazing beachfront view from the restaurant, pancakes are delicious! Hard to believe our favorite waiter, friendly young man - sorry I forget his name, was only a month into working at the Beach House restaurant - greeting us daily with a big smile, impeccable service and remembering our order each morning (including my daughter's gluten free dietary restrictions!).

Why anyone would want to stay in Playa del Carmen is beyond me (we had one night here at the start of a tour) - but it takes all sorts! This hotel is in the thick of the action (and the noise) but disappointingly not really near a usable beach. The rooms are fine - quite modern - I would strongly recommend a room nearer the back of the hotel - no view but at least you can sleep. The pool area on the roof seems to be full of 20/30 year old Americans partying hard - not our thing. Ordering a cocktail was a challenge - seemed to take forever. Breakfast was particularly poor - a long wait for a simple coffee and a refusal to provide a cappuccino without an extra payment!
