    Slightly disappointed

We stayed here for three nights as part of our tour of Costa Rica. The hotel is in a great position for viewing the volcano and for numerous activities. Sadly, through no fault of the hotel, the weather was so bad we never got to see the volcano and it rained heavily for our whole stay. The rooms are spacious and our had a full size hot tub which, due to the noise, we tuned off straight away! The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. The floors were highly polished so do be careful when getting out of the shower as I went flying.. As we were a distance from the restaurant/ reception, you could call a car and they would transfer you without problem. We ate in the main restaurant which felt a little like a cafetieria with brown tablecloths and strategically placed plants. On our first night, a waiter who I will not name, brought three bottles of wine to the table and then tried to hard sell them. When asked how much they were, one was over 100USD. He was clearly peeved when we politely declined. On the last night, he approached us again and said he felt he needed to put on a shirt and tie to speak to us. We did not realise until afterwards how rude he had been and were quite upset and shocked as we had been nothing but polite. Having said this, all the other staff were delightful , especially the helpful staff on reception and the lovely lady who cooked the eggs our excellent breakfast. Outside, there was a lovely pool and hot spring pools ( the top one being the warmest). I had a free face pack/ facial for 20 mins which was very pleasant. The well kept grounds were full of wildlife including white faced monkeys. I would have given this hotel higher marks if it hadn’t looked quite so dated and for the rude waiter.

    A must stay!!

Absolutely incredible, unforgettable stay! The staff were perfect, so kind and considerate, professional, caring, just lovely. The views of the volcano were unmatched throughout the property, including from our hotel room bed! Fabulous food, facilities, walks around the biodiverse landscaping, everything. Our stay felt like a dream!

    Beautiful

This hotel is one of the best experiences I have had. Location was great for the activities we done. Beautiful surroundings. It rained the whole time of our stay. But this did not dampen our experience, we couldn’t have stayed in nicer surroundings with bad weather. The hot springs were lovely to relax in while the bar staff brought us our drinks. The staff were so friendly & accommodating. Rooms were lovely. Our own balcony looking over the volcano & private hot tub. Food was 5 star in the main restaurant & breakfast also was great, thank you for a wonderful experience 👍🏻

    Total relaxation & great food!

My husband and I were visiting for my birthday. I highly recommend this resort. It offers many things such as great food, excellent & attentive staff. hot springs, nature trails, & great views of the volcano. The flora & fauna around the resort do not disappoint! Be prepared to be woken up by howler moneys in the mornings. Take the time to have a spa service, I had one of the best massages ever here! All around a wonderful stay & I look forward to visiting Kioro again one day!

Lots of good a couple of not so goods

Mainly we loved the hotel, our room was great with just the most amazing view and the hot tub was fun. We loved the hot springs and the gardens. On the slightly downsides, we heard the glass bin emptied every morning at 7am. The sound proofing between rooms is non existent. We personally were not impressed with the restaurant food. Fortunately we had a car and were not a captive audience thank goodness. We found all the staff friendly and helpful. Even trying to upsell coffee at breakfast at a cost, of course. My other comment, this is a pretty expensive hotel, to be told the water was ‘non complimentary’ seemed unnecessary and the only hotel we encountered on our trip that did that. Just a thought for the management.
