NEVER trust FUNJET ever!!
We booked a vacation to visit San Jose del Cabo this year from March 17-27. Of course we had no idea the world would be changing. When we got to the resort everything seemed pretty normal but changed quickly. All guests at the resort visiting from Canada was contacted by their travel agents and told they had to return home immediately. Everyone I spoke to said their agents changed their flights and got them new flights. As of that day; March 19; no one from USA had knew if the border was closed. We tried to contact Funjet on their "24 hour-we care-service center" and was on hold for over 5 hours when someone finally answered the phone. I told them we were in Mexico from USA and needed to know what we were supposed to do. The person that answered the phone said he could not help us and put us back on hold again. Wait time 289 minutes. We ended up going to the airport on our own to find out what was going on and decided to get the last flight out on the 20th.When i checked the funjet website it was written that they contacted all vacationers in other countries to let them know what to do but they never contacted us or the other party we vacationed with. Funjet has still not answered the phone; we have called 4 different times; and has not responded to 4 emails that were sent to them. I am so completely astounded by their lack of concern for their customers I had to put this review somewhere. The Holiday Inn Resort in San Jose del Cabo was so helpful and we will be back. This resort is well worth the money.
Holiday Inn Resort
Picked up at the airport as part of the WestJet vacation package, there is a meeting area designated based upon your vacation package. I arrived at the Holiday Inn Resort at 11:30AM but could not check in to my room until 3PM so I walked around and had some lunch at the resort. The check in process was a good guest experience, as I was provided an overview of the property then handed my room key. I was assigned to room 1132, which had a moldy smell to it that I could not get past. The manager met me and I showed him the concern, moments later arrangements were made for another room at 1110. Sleep quality will suffer here, as a select few guests lacked courtesy with doors slamming at 6:30AM, or the boisterous guests returning from partying at 1:30AM, oblivious to time and how the magnitude of their conversations impacted other guests. The accommodations are dated, but other than sleeping, I wasn’t in my room much during the 7 days in Los Cabos. Azul, which is the a la cart restaurant requires a reservation, however I only signed the reservation sheet once, as getting in line at 6:45AM to sign the reservation sheet does not do it for me. My prior travel experience and resourcefulness ended up getting me a table at Azul on four different occasions without a reservation. I also found that the food at Azul was better than the buffet on many evenings. The entertainment was interesting, with after dinner entertainment almost every night. I found that booking tours at agencies along Paseo Malecon San Jose, were less expensive than at the resort. The resort bars, served reusable plastic cups that was the only downfall of the drinks. The service was mostly good, as not all staff seemed to enjoy their jobs. There were exceptions though, all the interactions I had with housekeeping was positive, as well as most of the servers. The staff I like to commend on their exceptional service are, Sophia and Abraham as servers; Andrea the hostess, and Olga at the front desk. Definitely not worth 4 stars. People who rated higher are being WAY to generous
This was a horrible resort. I had to remind myself that it was a vacation for the kids not for us. Had we spent $100 more a person we could have stayed 5 Stars. We stayed at the Rio a couple of years ago for around the same price and it was unbelievable if compared. The kids had fun because there were pools. They hated the food. They missed fresh veggies. The kids pool had mold under the slides and the tiles were coming off around and in the pool. The hotel was HORRIBLE. It was definitely not a 4 star maybe a 3 star. The food was not good at all. There were hardly any fresh vegetables. The "hot food" were also not good and not even hot. Hot dogs for lunch one day = hot dogs cut up and called breakfast sausages the next morning. The hotel rooms had balconies there had 5 foot tall cement ledges so you couldn't sit on the balcony when the kids went to bed and enjoy a view. There was mold in the bathroom on the floor and on the drying string where you put your bathing suit. We were in block 7 of 7 on the 3rd floor. The elevator was in building 3 or 4. So that was not convenient but we had time to walk no big deal. The entire resort was filthy. Someone got sick on cement on the 1st day we were there and the crusty puke was there the entire week!! No one was ever really cleaning anything. The high chairs had dried crusty food on the trays from the night before. The entertainment staff was mostly absent. Except for one day Most of the other resorts we have been to the workers are scrubbing everything all the time. I would never reccomend anyone to the Holiday Inn Resort. It was so bad that I almost am tempted to write the CEO of Holiday Inn and ask him to be a silent visitor there and get the CEOs review.
Fun and enjoyable resort
Trravelled February 20 to March 5. We had a wonderful time! Staff were superb, the food great and plenty to drink if you wanted. It was a very clean resort as well as our room. the room was dated, but we had a magnificent view of the ocean from our Balcony. We enjoyed the entertainment around the pool and the different activities they had WE did water aerobics every day with Rosa (not her whole name) and she made it so fun, That we were laughing all the time1 Also the 2 young men doing the pool activities were great as well. We will be coming back! Kevin and Diane
Although showing it’s age the resort is impeccably clean thanks to the staff who make a person like a well deserved visitor rather than a number. The buffet was most enjoyable with a different type every night. (Mexican, Asian, Caribbean, etc.) All in all a restful holiday.
