  THE BEST BARTENDERS AT THE BEACH NAUTICA BEACH BAR JOCELIN AND DIEGO!!! They are so so good and take care of you!! We love them!

  Good but would not return

  Pros Restaurants Zen (tepenyaki), Taj (Indian), and the main buffet were excellent. Good selection, nice setting, great tasting food etc etc. All fab. Peter the chef in Zen was great. Had me up tossing and cracking eggs with the knife for the group, a lot of fun. Staff also attentive with filling up drinks. There’s 11 restaurants in total so a really good mix. The steakhouse food was super tasty but very busy and we waited for a while. They don’t have a culture of acknowledging people at the front so we stood for 20 mins while they buzzed about without so much as a hello. The Italian was also tasty but its outside and roasting hot. The ceiling fans barely touch the sides, very humid setting but tasty food. We also done the Mexican and Tex Mex, both average. Expected better in Mexico! Hotel setting/environment The hotel is quite lovely and nice to walk around. We stayed by the Royalton Hideaway smaller pool where it’s quiet cause it suits us better. The pool area was quite dated with tiles broke/missing and dirt etc in parts. Generally lovely surrounding area and the lobby bar/area is kept well. Coffee shop We’re both coffee drinkers and really enjoyed the on site coffee shop. A lot of selection options and always fruit, sandwiches and pastries to choose from. We had iced coffees every day it was fab. Rooms The room was fabulous, very clean and spacious. We had a luxury junior suite. Bed was massive. two sinks. two shoer heads, very nice for a honeymoon. We didn't get the room cleaned every day however. Cons Guest Services Disappointed with guest services. I made two requests for surprises for our honeymoon and for my wife’s birthday. I didn’t receive any response to the honeymoon requests made in advance of the holiday. The birthday request was made twice with guest services at the hotel. They assured me my name/room was on the list and the agreement was to have a banner on the door with a small cake and champagne left in the room. We never received anything and I was fairly gutted. Honeymoon and birthday in the one trip and the hotel/staff really let us down. They didn’t even contact me to say sorry we couldn’t fulfil the requests. They shouldn’t make promises they can’t keep, and should at very least notify me if they can’t meet expectations. I could have organised something myself. I even checked with staff at 6pm because we hadn’t received anything and was told it can take up to 9pm, but we never received anything and the planned surprise was ruined. Bar service The speed of bar service was very poor. The Royalton hideaway bar, sports bar, martini mix bar and lobby bar were all very slow. The bars were all understaffed, I felt really sorry for the staff on. They were cleaning dishes and trying to take so many orders, it was a mess to be honest and we stopped drinking because it was a waste of time standing at the bars which is disappointing at an all inclusive. There are also no straws (apparently a Mexico-wide rule). Many cocktails need a straw, it just ruined a lot of drinks so look out for that. There are no drink menus at the bar. First time on holiday we’ve experienced that, find it so bizarre and a negative. My wife asked for a drinks menu on our first day and the bar staff at the Royalton hideaway bar abruptly said no in such a rude manner, it wasn’t a nice welcome on day one. Check in/information As with most hotels, an app service is used for informing guests. They refer you to the app like it’s job done but they could be much better at explaining things. We had uncertainties about the rooms, restaurants, pool areas, activities. The staff are always there to ask questions in fairness and are nice to speak to (even if they don’t deliver on birthday and honeymoon requests hahaha). All in all a good trip, but we would not return here for a holiday.

  1 week stay in Royalton

  Still here in the resort on 5th day, still have 2 more days to go. Very disappointed cause heard so much and first time staying in Royalton chain. I would say overrated, 3.5 stars, not 5 stars. My family and I are beach swimmers and beach is almost not swim able cause too much sea weeds and brown dull beach colour. But I know it’s nature so I can’t complain too much. Resort is smelled of sewage and it’s true as lots of reviews before. I’m sitting in balcony and writing reviews and smelling it right now. Alcohol and food is disappointed too.

  Awesome

  Jesus Lopez was entertaining and gave an awesome show. Food was cooked to perfection. Love the flaming heart. Ohhh ohh.. Henri was fast with drinks

  Wonderful family time vacation!

  Isaias was at the restaurant every time we went and he was very accommodating and knowledgeable about our needs. The food was great and the entertainment was wonderful! Would recommend to anyone .
