Friends Cancun Trip
Loved our butler Jocelyn! She went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable… our only complaint would be the service at the steak house Hunter. But that could be any where you go.

Fabulous resort. Employees are all amazing and work so hard. Food is fantastic, buffet should be called a food emporium as opposed to a buffet as it is absolutely fantastic. Delicious fresh food constantly. Healthy options also and huge variety. Yoga is unreal, Edgar is the sweetest instructor ever…. Love him… he encouraged my hubby who is not a yoga goer to join and he was so fabulous adjusting moves (hubby not too flexible) and we all celebrated when hubby made it to the end and better again he is going again tomorrow. Also Rene in Tex Mex is fab and am older gentleman in the Mexican, oh and the happiest poolside server is the guy by building 9 in the pool by the beach. So kind and always checks to make sure you have a drink. These are ones who have stood out to us so far but there are also more amazing people..,,, the place is a gem!!!!

Four days, three nights at Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun
We had fun at Royalton Splash! This is a really nice resort. I was worried the pools would be shoulder to shoulder with it being a family resort, but with the number of pools available, we were always able to find space to hang out. Our boys (14 & 16) LOVED the water park, and it was nowhere near as packed as I expected. I thought there would be mile long lines for all the slides, but there never were. Maybe 2-6 people waiting in front of you, but no more than that. I think the age and height restrictions for the big slides obviously helped with this (if you have small children, make yourself familiar with these restrictions before you book so you're not disappointed). As with most other all-inclusive resorts, you've got to get up at the crack of dawn if you want a lounge chair near the pool. We got lucky on our last day and had a lady offer us two she wasn't using. The service is good, though I'll say I've had better elsewhere. However, I think the bartenders are overwhelmed and a little under-staffed. They still managed to get us drinks within 10 minutes or so, but they were definitely busy and working as fast as they could. Restaurant reservations are a challenge, so be sure you download the app and try to book as far in advance as it'll let you. We couldn't find any availability at first, but on our second day we figured out that since we had a two-bedroom suite (12421A & 12421B in building 12), we needed to enter either letter A or letter B after our room number in the app for it to show us availability. That would've been great to know at check-in. All the food we had was pretty good--we only stayed three nights, so we only got to go to two restaurants. That being said, I don't feel like I can give a full review of the food since there were several restaurants we didn't get to try. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they offer a wide variety of food for each meal. My entire family did end up with stomach issues either during or immediately following our trip, but we chalked it up to maybe contaminated water and not the food. I suggest sticking to bottled water as much as possible (would have to bring your own from your room or special request this in the restaurants as they serve tap) and try to lean toward drinks that don't have local ice in them, ex: beer). I really think this is a challenge you'll face at any resort in Mexico, I don't think it's unique to this one. The best drinks we had the entire trip were at Shaken Bar & Mixology on level 3 next to Agave. I believe our favorite bartender's name was Fernando. If you're coming for the turquoise water and white sand beaches from the pictures, this is not the place. This is not the resort's fault as they work very hard to keep the beach clear of seaweed, but unfortunately due to the direction of the tide and winds, this resort and a few others near it are in the area most impacted by the summer seaweed. We're pool people, not beach people, so this didn't bother us. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend for families!

Royal Fit’s Zumba Class Rocks!
I attended the best Zumba class I have in my whole life not only was it extremely challenging and rigorous, but super fun. Brandon did his thing today and Edgar was an awesome cheerleader; thank God for sweatpants, LBVS!

Not nearly as bad as some reviews indicate…
Manuel at Zen is awesome! We had a great time there. The resort is about to be under construction in August and could use some updates. However, our room was very nice (Junior suite ocean front jacuzzi balcony) in building 9. I was very Leary after seeing many negative reviews, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the reviews of the resort indicated.
- AdvisoryWe are thrilled to share with you the exciting news that the first phase of our transformative journey has been a resounding success.
- AdvisoryPlease be advised that the local government of Quintana Roo, Mexico, has updated the Environmental Sanitation Tax. Effective immediately, this tax will be charged at $79.20 Mexican pesos per room, per night.
- AdvisoryOperations at Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort & Casino will be temporarily paused from August 18 to December 6, 2025, to finalize this complex renovation. This includes refreshing the motor lobby, main lobby, main pool areas, walkways, elevators and suites, as well as elevating the Convention Center, ensuring it remains a premier venue for high-profile events.
- AdvisoryWhile we diligently work to transform this property into spaces that reflect the very best of modern all-inclusive luxury, existing reservations will be protected at other Blue Diamond Resorts in the destination, ensuring minimal disruption for our guests. Although Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun has been prepared to accommodate existing reservations, additional options will also be available depending on the specific characteristics of each booking.
