Sun, beautiful beach and the best people!
A friend and I spent 4 nights here in March and we had a great time. This was our first time in Jamaica and we definitely want to go back. Pros: beautiful beach, the staff, nice and clean buildings, junior swim-out suites in Building 2 with a view of the beach, nice gym with fun gym classes, beach workouts, good drinks, room service, my friend really liked the food truck by the main pool, I enjoyed the jerk chicken from the Jerk hut, good sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash were provided and restocked, the mini fridge was restocked regularly, a welcome bottle of wine, starfish could be found in the shallow water on the beach Cons: food at the buffet (anything pre-made was barely warm) but if you felt like standing and waiting for something to be prepared for you, you can definitely get a hot item. The area roped off for swimming seemed too small or did not go in far enough. I am 5'4 and the water by the rope barely came up to my chest. That should really be extended a bit. Food at the dinner restaurants was decent. We arrived around noon and check in time is at 3:00 PM. They didn't have a room ready in building 2 where I had requested so they told us to go eat some lunch and they'd let us know when it was ready. When we came back from lunch, we were greeted by Shanae. She gave us her number and we communicated over Whatsapp during the whole trip. Shanae kept in touch with us during the trip and asked how everything was going and if there is anything she can help with. I really appreciated that. Shanae got us a room in building 2 and a free upgrade to the Diamond club. We didn't stay in the Diamond club building but had access to Diamond club lounge, pool, beach area and beach bar. We liked the lounge because we could just run in there and get extra drinks or a snack and make reservations for dinner. The diamond club beach area has nicer beach beds but we actually preferred the location of the beach directly in front of our room for convenience to just run back to the room to use the restroom. We did use the Diamond beach bar to get drinks and mid-day snacks. I have been to all-inclusives in Cancun/Riviera Maya and Punta Cana multiple times and I must say that the staff here was even more wonderful. Everyone seemed really nice, always smiling and asking if they can help with anything. Shanae checked in with us even on the last day and I appreciated that. Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the fitness instructors but there was a nice young man teaching kickboxing and he put a small group of us through a good workout. The other fitness trainer, who is kind of loud and obnoxious but really funny, talked us into a class on the beach which turned into a private bootcamp training session on the beach for just my friend and I. We had a good laugh! The entertainment team is good. During our last night, they came for a dance party at the bar near the entertainment stage and they made sure to engage people and get them dancing. Sadly, I did not note any of their names. We absolutely loved the junior swim-out suite in building 2. The water was nice and warm and we had a great view of the beach from the deck. We ordered room service for breakfast on a couple of the days and really enjoyed the view while we ate. I read some reviews before going about people walking the beach selling things and being too aggressive - this was not our experience. We were always in the first row and when they'd come by, we would just say no thank you and they moved on. Thank you to all of the wonderful staff working at this resort and especially Shanae for taking care of us. We will be back!
Beach attendant Tenisha and overall trip
Hello we were at Royalton Negril on March 6 for a week The resort is beautiful and almost everything was just great. The beaches wAter was so clean and clear. When we were on the beach we noticed for the whole week we were there that , I would like to say that due to the Diet Coke from the bar was always flat we kept saying that the machine needs to be fixed. For some who only drinks Diet Coke and seldom any alcohol it was disappointed for us. Tenisha went out of her way to find good Diet Coke that was not flat. She was very pleasant and understanding and wanted to keep us happy. I would say she was outstanding on her service to us on the beach. She deserves an acknowledgement from Royalton owners. We had a few minor details that the staff correct for us. We were served a broken glass but with all the ice in it you couldn’t tell until you actually brought the glass close to your face. They immediately changed it for us at the tex mex restaurant. The food there was great and also at calypso and the steak house was also amazing food. We were a little disappointed when we went to zen the ambiance at our cooking table was awful. All the chefs did was cook in front of us, they didn’t even talk to us and try to get the crowd interaction. We even had to make reservations for this restaurant. In Canada we’ve been to many and it’s alwAys a show in Canada. Perhaps you can retrain your chefs to interact with the guests so that they have a memorable enjoyable experience. We would go back to Royalton Negril, but not right away. Thank you Tenisha- your work ethic is impeccable Stay well in these very difficult times everyone Maria L
Thank you so much! Sending Love from Canada!
My family and I headed to Royalton Negril to celebrate my wife’s birthday and seemingly seconds after we got airborne the situation in the world changed dramatically. I can’t not say how thankful we were to be in the hands of the amazing staff at Royalton Negril during this wild time. Our butlers Kadeam & Danesha were wonderful. The energy they spent on making sure we were okay while they were, essentially, being laid off was unbelievable. We are incredibly privileged and to see the selflessness of the staff (bartenders, servers, groundskeepers) makes me emotional. The amount of times someone asked my family and I if we were okay and reminded us to stay safe was incredible. I hope that Royalton will make sure that their truly beautiful employees are able to stay safe in these coming days as things could, potentially, deteriorate rapidly. I will return to Jamaica as soon as possible and I hope that our “do over” will allow me to see the people who made this past week an incredible week even while it seemed the world was descending into chaos. The Royalton property is so beautiful, the facilities are fantastic, and the food is great. But, truly, the people that work at the resort are the ones that really make Royalton Negril special. Big shoutouts to our butlers Kadeem & Danesha, Phillip, Kerry-Anne, and everyone from the Diamond Club Pool Bar, Meggon and Tracey-Anne and all of the people who made sure things were smooth amidst the chaos. We hope that everyone is back when we return. We also hope Royalton does right by their employees at this critical time. Big Love and Stay Safe! Love, Levis, Gina, Stella, and Judah
Nice resort, friendly staff
We stayed from March 10-19. It’s a beautiful resort, great beaches and pools, diamond club is a must...shout out to butlers Averdon and Franz, extremely friendly and helpful and considerate of our needs. When we first got there, took us to building 5, the room had a moldy smell and we were moved to building 1 within 24 hours, the building is the farthest one which was nice and quiet but had it’s own private outdoor eating area and the pool was wonderful, heated until the last 3 days when they turned the heat off(because of the virus, lot of people were canceling their vacations), the food was a bit disappointing, had no pork all week. We tried many of restaurants including the one at Hideaway(had to purchase a bottle wine to eat there). The last 2 nights only 2 restaurants were open as they were combining the guests from this resort to the resort in Montego Bay. It’s a good sized resort, get used to walking. Nude beach is right next door but it didn’t bother us. No lobster on the resort menu. Had to walk about a mile to get lobster fresh made on the beach, not bad price either.Don’t forget the jerk chicken. We will go back to Negril but not to Royalton, would like an adult resort. We had few problems, but management tried to take care of the issues. The pools, beaches are beautiful
Definitely not 5 star service
On the positive side, the rooms were beautiful, tastefully decorated and cleaned daily, the whole resort appeared luxurious, the gardens well kept, entertainment excellent centred around the Martini Bar and main stage, with live music most nights until 11pm to suit all age groups. On the negative side, the food in the buffet was lukewarm at best but often cold, food in a la carte restaurants poor, steaks overcooked, food lukewarm. Service poor in the buffet restaurant but a bit better in a la carte areas, a few staff eg Rory in buffet restaurant work really hard to try to improve service but this has little impact overall as tables not set up properly, on a daily basis we had to ask for crockery, cutlery and napkins, drinks not offered and staff not giving eye contact to enable guests to ask for what they needed. I was not the only guest to complain about the food temperature and poor service. I expected much more than I received.
