  Quality hotel

  Travelled mid December. Specifically chose this hotel so that we could see the monkeys and have a calm beach for swimming. Lots of wildlife - coati, monkeys, iguanas, agouti (and some raccoons). Food and service were excellent. All the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful (even before we tipped) and this was appreciated. The resort is quite large which gave us opportunity to walk around and get some exercise. There’s a nice 25 metre pool if you like to swim. We had a few days with very low winds/waves and were able to snorkel outside the break wall. Lots of baby fan coral and (sadly) a few lion fish not much else. We are experienced swimmers and we had a marker with us for safety. Do not attempt this if the winds are up. Entry and exit are through some pretty gnarly rocks and you’re at risk if the conditions aren’t right. A few things I would improve - the first is the hard sales pitch when you arrive to attend their timeshare presentation. We were all tired and hungry and had no interest whatsoever. They tried to hit us up on check out too (to pay an “activation” and get 50% off our next stay). The second thing to improve would be access to the tennis courts. It was hard to find someone who knew how to get equipment and then we learned it had to be reserved in advance. Finally, there is music everywhere all the time. Sometimes three different songs coming from three speakers within earshot. If you want quiet, maybe bring noise cancelling headphones or earplugs. Even in the wee hours of the morning (and night?) there was music. Everything else at the hotel was great. There was food and drinks available everywhere all the time. The Havienda Roja section seemed to cater mostly to families with children and was quite chaotic. The Hacienda Azul section was quieter - and then of course there’s the Heaven (adults only) section which was the chillest.

  Could be Better

  We went as guests of my parents who are members of the vacation club. They are top tier members who pay a lot of money and spend a lot of time using the club’s various resorts. My parents were also with us. They had us pumped about the quality of service and quality of food we would experience here. We were disappointed by both. Let’s start with the butlers, we were basically told no every request made or provided with an excuse for why the service was not completed. Example, we requested 4 chairs at the beach and the next morning there were no chairs saved for us. We made dinner reservations through butler 1 but butler 2 said we didn’t have them so we had to make new ones then butler 1 asked why we didn’t go to our reservations. Those kind of things were really annoying. I would prefer to just make the reservations on my own but I didn’t want to offend anyone. The restaurants were not impressive. I did like some of the dessert options but the food options were not what you’d expect from a luxury hotel. Things we did like: ⭐️Hugo from vacation planners was AMAZING. He made sure we went on the best adventures. He also went above and beyond to help us with off campus dinner suggestions, reservations, and transportations. He was the shinning star of the HR employees! ✈️🌎The Awaken Your Senses dinner was fantastic. The experience and the food were 10/10. You forgot that you were eating with other families. It was so much fun. The buggies that took you from lobby to lobby were very convenient and the drivers were super nice. I especially liked when they would offer to drive me to different building if needed.

  A Family Christmas in Mexico to Remember!

  For the first time ever at Christmas, our family decided to take a vacation to spend the holiday together instead of staying at home!! My sister and I have been working with Michael McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services for months to plan the perfect vacation! Michael was amazing to work with and helped us choose and plan the trip at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya!!! We had a big group, 11 of us in total, but Michael helped us choose the perfect rooms and we loved the accommodations! All of the restaurants were incredible and were able to sit our large group together! We loved all of the pool options and activities that they had throughout the week. The kids LOVED the water park and slides, and the adults loved when we could escape over to the adult side!! All of the staff members were fantastic. From the servers at the Market for breakfast, the bartenders at the swim up bars and bars around the resort, the servers at dinner, room service, housekeeping, front desk, everyone was so helpful and kind and just added to our wonderful experience! We rented 2 cabanas our last day and just had the perfect location and our server, Rene, made it an experience to remember. Thank YOU to everyone who made our family Christmas one to remember! We will always work with Michael and Dream Makers Vacation Services and return to Hard Rock Resorts in the future!!

  Really great customer service!

  Had a great experience here over Christmas. The staff was especially great. In the morning we would go to the Market Restaurant buffet and after the first day of excellent service from David Bulam, we asked for his section very morning after that. We briefly mentioned that it was my son’s birthday and he got his manager, Alfredo, and they put together a couple of really nice surprises that made his birthday extra special. David, Jose, and Ezequiel took excellent care of us each and every day and really made us feel like VIPs. We had great service everywhere we went, honestly.

  Ricardo G from the bowling alley rocks!

  Thank you to every single hotel staff but most importantly to Ricardo G. from the bowling alley!!! He made us feel at home, safe and allowed us to experience a memorable Mexican culture 🫶
