  A Foodie Dream

  Came here for our babymoon! The venue is gorgeous - rooms were spacious and well appointed, the pools are comfortable and beautiful, and the restaurants are all that we expected and more. Truly we booked this place based on the food reviews, and even with our extremely high expectations, it did not disappoint. RESTAURANT REVIEWS AZUL BUFFET 5/5* - We came here for breakfast/brunch each morning and loved the selection. The variety and freshness made this something to look forward each morning. Lots of drinks to choose from too including smoothies, juices, coffees and adult beverages - they will get you whatever you want! FRIDA 4/5* - There were a few highlights in this meal that made it fantastic - the CREMA DE HABANERO soup and CORN CAKE dessert were creative and delightful to eat. The tuna infladita, soft shell crab taco, lamb birria taco, chicken tinga enmoladas, and grilled red snapper were all very tasty too, but didn't have the specialness of the soup and dessert. LOTO 5/5* - We were blown away from the start with this meal. The restaurant is beautiful, and the delicious are as breath-taking visually as they are to taste. The starting bites and bread in sesame dressing were an exciting start. The SALMON TARTARE and BEEF TARTARE cones were delicious bites. The OCTOPUS skewer was probably my favorite dish of the night - so tender and in a delicious sauce. The SURF AND TURF skewer was perfectly done as well, and the SHRIMP skewer too. Side of MUSHROOMS was simple but delicious. We were so full by the end but somehow made room for the MILLEFEUILLE dessert - very unique, delicate, and perfect end to the meal. The chef also came by at the end and we had a nice conversation about the meal. Our only regret was not going here twice to try more of the dishes - each one was exquisite and masterfully done. We left so grateful for the experience and bursting with enthusiasm and excitement. COCINA DE AUTOR 5/5* - Just as you would expect from a michelin star restaurant - orchestrated to surprise and delight, restrained but complex, and a feast for all of your senses. One thing they did better than other tasting menus IMO - balance across the dishes, and not leaving with you a completely stuffed feeling. One thing that confused us a bit - we heard the waiter talking to another table about an upgraded menu with a couple additions that sounded amazing. We did not hear about this menu. I assume it is for external diners but it made us wonder - what are we missing?! CABRILLA 4/5* - Ceviche restaurant by the pool with fresh, tasty dishes. The only thing I would change here is a bit more variety on the menu. Otherwise, everything including the service was great. VELAS 10 4.5/5* - A high quality steak and seafood house. Everything from the parker rolls to bone marrow to steaks to carrot cake dessert was delicious. --- Along with the incredible food - we had good experiences with the housekeeping, spa, room amenities, onsite gift shop and room service. We came for the food, and our minds were blown. Such a treat to have reliably delicious and detailed food wherever you go. We did experience a few downsides on our trip that prevented a 5* review. - CONCIERGE: people rave about this, but it was not a highlight of our experience. We talked with a pre-concierge person over e-mail, and booked/confirmed a lifestyle photoshoot. Later we learned that there had been a mistake in booking and we had to book for a different day and time, and shuffle some of our other plans. They apologized and we appreciated the accountability, but it still created some confusion and uncertainty that our reservations existed, and felt like we needed to double check. As for onsite concierge - our person did not seem well-organized. They sent us the kid's schedule to start though we did not have kids, suggested alcohol-based activities like mezcal tasting a few times throughout our trip though I was pregnant and there on our babymoon, and did not follow-up on a couple requests we made - we needed to ask a few times. We felt on our own during the trip to figure things out. - LIFESTYLE PHOTO SHOOT - this was complimentary with our booking, yet the prices per photo were soooo high. Like, they've taken take hundreds of photos, and you have to pay hundreds of dollars for a few photos, or thousands for all of them. You also have to review in person with the company's representative and decide on the spot. I understand this is not the resort's direct service, but I think they could pick a provider that gave more reasonably priced options. We can get much cheaper prices for photographs in Los Angeles and this felt like a ridiculous upsell. - POOLSIDE DRINKS: my husband was disappointed with the drinks served at the pool, they didn't taste very good or like they had alcohol, even if he ordered a double. - ROOM PLUNGE POOL: We booked a grand class suite, and the plunge pool on the balcony was too cold to use. --- Overall we are very glad we came. I'm not sure we would return because the price is so high and we already experienced it, but if in the area we would certainly come back for the restaurants, particularly Loto and Cocina De Autor.

  The concierge service was outstanding!

  Definitely Five star service. Our concierge was Astrid, she went above and beyond to create wonderful and unforgetable memories for my husband and I. If you can, I would request getting her. We had never had a concierge that wonderful and thoughtful, even at George Cinq in Paris! The restaurants are all wonderful. The Michelin Stars “Cocina del Autor” restaurant will blow your mind.

  Best staff ever!

  We just came back from Grand Velas in October and we are already looking forward to going back. It was our first trip with our one year old and we had the most wonderful time. The resort was beautiful, our room had the best ocean view, all the F&B outlets were delicious but most importantly, the service we received from the entire team will stay with our memories forever. Special shoutout to Alexis, our personal concierge, for being so accommodating and responsive during our entire stay. The staff that drove us back, Harrison, was so pleasant and I was able to learn so much about Mexico's food history on my way back to the airport. I didn't get their names, but all the ladies in the lobby always greeted our family with the warmest smile. Thank you so much! I will be recommending Grand Velas Los Cabos to everybody!!

  A perfect family getaway

  My family had the pleasure of staying at Grand Velas for a large group trip with a mix of families and couples. Everything was better than expected. One of the stand outs was Roxana who was hired through the baby sitter service ! Made us feel comfortable getting care for a 4 month old baby. Special thank you to her and her team

  This was our first time in Velas Cabo although we stayed at the adults only boutique hotel by Velas we enjoyed the pool at Velas it wasn’t too busy and the best service by Elena at the pool very attentive and friendly.
