Pick another resort until renovated !!
Currently here for 7 nights. Booked through trip central/Air canada vacations. Flight portion of the trip was smooth. Definitely spend your money elsewhere for a resort. We came 10 years ago but this place is now showing its age. AC struggles to keep room temp below 23.8 C. Outlets falling out of walls- it definitely needs a facelift. If you have any gymnastics abilities you will do great navigating the step up into the deep tub/ shower combo. I can’t believe some people haven't fallen getting out of this contraption. If your traveling with someone other than your significant other and book a loft suite the glass in between the main bed and shower is frosted- think 80’s silhouette…def not suitable. 90% of the restaurants are closed- something not noted on the booking website or I would have chosen another resort. Bavaro section is closed due to renovations so you have 1 main restaurant for breakfast/Lunch/Dinner with another buffet restaurant opened for lunch. Only place that is air conditioned is Hemmingway Bar- burger truck parked beside it. Made 5 trips to the front desk to get the ac looked at- its standard was the response after 3 technicians came to look at it ..asked to switch rooms and it seemed like that was a big inconvenience. Sorry Pladium…. Your 5 star has lost its rating at the moment. On the plus side- wait staff is amazing, pool bar staff always have whatever you require- pool is clean- lots of loungers at this time period….Rock show in lobby on Thursday nite is very good- other than that minimal activities. Pushy travel club salespeople in the lobby, around the pool trying to get you to a timeshare presentation. I think if you are very good at saying no you will have no problem. But every time they see you at the lobby they have to try. Highlight of the trip is the coffee bar..frap’s, fruit jars, donuts, hot or iced coffee- def one of the best things here. Until the whole resort does a refresh find another place to book. I am not one to usually write reviews but extremely disappointed in this resort.

Not a 5 star room at all
We asked for a room as close to beach as possible. They gave us a room and said we could pay extra to upgrade if we didn't like it. The room given was the furthest from the beach on the entire resort, facing a parking lot. Room was very dated and was maybe a 3 star, WE PAID FOR A 5 STAR. One can of beer in total put into fridge in 3 days ( supposed to be 4 per day) even after complaining to reception. Restaurants closed and construction all around which we were not told about.

Don’t come here if you’re English speaking
Shocking hotel. We paid almost £4000 as a couple from England for an off season holiday. We came to Punta Cana last year and absolutely loved it, hence why booking again. Completely different experience. Staff are rude and always expect a tip. I am one who is more than happy to tip for exceptional service. Here you feel obliged to good or bad service as you’re made to feel bad if you don’t. Select few staff are fantastic and they all got a great tip from us! 90% of our food and drinks orders were wrong. 50% of restaurants closed during our stay and a huge part of the hotel closed off. Rooms are disgusting and outdated. Mini bars supposedly filled up every day. They are not. Ours was only filled after complaining constantly about having no bottles of water/drinks in our fridge which also doesn’t work. Both front and balcony doors basically falling off. Rusty edges all over the bathroom. Our bedding hadn’t even been changed for when we arrived. The only saving grace from the rooms themselves were the fantastic tv’s. Never been on a holiday and been ready to go back and watch TV 🙃 We feel as though we are on a Spanish 18-30’s holiday. All day time and evening entertainment in Spanish, every day/night, constantly. At a holiday hotel which caters for English, Americans, Canadians, all English speaking people too, I feel this is completely unfair and completely ruined our time. I’ve been to hotels in Spain itself that aren’t so consistently catering for one language only. Power/water keeps going off. No air conditioning, no fans, no lights, no running water, no flushing toilets. For a 5 star chain hotel, this is not good enough and back up should be in place. Every single English couple/family we have bumped in to have been completely dissatisfied. 5 stars? I think not. More like 3 on a good day. Avoid this hotel and go for a butlins 90’s weekend instead 💃🏼
