First and Last Time in the DR

Overall this is a okay resort. I definitely wouldn’t go as far as to say that it’s 5 stars. The food is good enough, service is either really good or really bad it depends on the staff member. The big thing is that this resort is not English tourist friendly. Most of the workers speak only Spanish and we’ve experienced poor treatment on an account of only speaking English. On multiple occasions staff would talk about us in Spanish and other guest would look over with pity. This is how they treat all English speaking guest as I ran into a woman at the airport who shared the same experience at this resort. We were told we would get the honeymoon package but ended up only getting a few petals, no fruit platter, no champagne. The rooms are huge but filled with mosquitos and the train service is inconsistent which creates chaos during peak hours. If you’re on a budget, this is a choice but if you can spend more money please go somewhere else (if you speak English only, a different country). Thank you to Suger, Duan Juan and Gregorio who went out of their way to try to make this a good trip for my husband and I. A special shoutout goes to Benedis who went out of his way to make me feel comfortable and check on me the next day after a racist encounter with a guest. Definitely our first and last time in DR.

The resort is pretty and the the staff is kind. I had a Greta experience and enjoyed the platinum experience. Pools where clean and food was good. Enjoy food trucks on the beach. Estefani and Marli, Kelvin was great at Chopin Restaurant.

An Unforgettable Experience Thanks to Jeff and SeaPro Divers! My family and I spent a week at the Grand Bavaro Princess hotel, and one of the highlights of our trip was discovering SeaPro Divers during a morning stroll on the beach. That’s where I met Jeff, and everything changed from there. I mentioned that we were interested in parasailing, but my wife was hesitant and unsure. Jeff took the time without any pressure to thoroughly explain the process, safety measures, and what to expect. His calm, confident approach helped ease her nerves, and soon enough, our two daughters were soaring through the sky on the first round. To our surprise and joy, my wife and I went next and she came back absolutely thrilled, describing the view as breathtaking and the experience like flying. The next day, Jeff arranged for me to go scuba diving at a truly stunning location. The dive instructor I met was incredibly professional, friendly, and made the whole experience unforgettable. But Jeff didn’t stop there. On our final excursion, he personally took time away from his office to take my daughters out on a catamaran sail. It’s rare to see that level of dedication and personal care these days. Jeff is truly exceptional, and SeaPro Divers is lucky to have him. His sincere, top-notch customer service and genuine passion made all of our excursions extra special. I highly recommend SeaPro Divers and especially Jeff to anyone visiting the area. Thanks again for helping us make memories we’ll never forget!

    Still on vacation in resort

Currently on holiday here at the moment and only been here for a few days. However, I am so glad we decided to go and upgrade to platinum. I have found the majority of the staff really nice and welcoming. However, I am writing this now as it needs addressing. 1. Bar staff flirting with women whilst the queus grow, which is not acceptable. This hasn't happened just the once, but on multiple occasions. 2. Staff in the food trucks and bars allowing Dominican speaking people to avoid queuing, when they just shout there orders out and the next thing is their food / drinks arrive. We all need to eat and drink, but staff need to be respectful to all guests and if that means telling someone to wait then so be it. If management want to chat then I am happy to meet them to give specifics.

    Very disappointed.

We had a very disappointing experience at Grand Bávaro Princess. From the moment we arrived, service was poor and customer attention seriously lacking. We traveled with a baby, and unfortunately, both the crib and the high chair were dirty, in truly unhygienic condition. Most concerning, our baby contracted a contagious virus during our stay, which caused a full-body rash and fever. We believe this was due to the dirty high chairs, and we also met other families whose children had the exact same rash, indicating a widespread hygiene issue. Our room was in terrible condition: humidity, visible dirt, stained sofas, broken doors, non-functional light switches, damaged bathroom fixtures, poorly painted walls, and alarmingly, a piece of the ceiling actually fell down while we were inside. The bathtub was loose, the safe didn’t work, and the mini-fridge didn’t cool. The hotel is very large, but internal transportation is insufficient. The Platinum area is the last stop on the route, so carts were always full, and we often had to wait over 10 minutes. Towels were old, and most staff offered very poor customer service — with very few exceptions of kind and professional employees. Guests who were interested in buying a timeshare received special treatment, but once we declined the offer, the attitude toward us became rude and dismissive. One employee in particular — Lucas at the Platinum pool bar — was especially rude and disrespectful, refusing even to make eye contact while speaking to us. The WiFi was terrible: constant disconnections, extremely slow and unstable. The hotel app never worked — it was always down, and even when accessible, there was no availability for anything. We also experienced a power outage that lasted more than 10 minutes while we were eating at one of the restaurants — unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be upscale. The pools were extremely dirty and poorly maintained. When we visited the children’s pool, there was vomit in the water, and no one did anything to clean it up. Overall, this was a frustrating and concerning experience, especially traveling with a baby. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel and we will never return.
