Meh
Need to pay better attention to details. Everyone tells you something different. They horde towels like they are made of gold. Rooms dingy. Smells like mold. Not housekeeping fault it’s just old. Bathtub had rust everywhere. Toilet paper holder was being held in by cardboard. We paid for the upgraded VIP and it doesn’t actually include the things it’s says it does like , nightly turned down , and chocolates. The food was better than expected. The beach is nice but the chairs and the cushions are dingy. While walking on the beach did see syringes so that’s concerning The waiter on the beach for the VIP section was nice however, they don’t have enough seating , umbrellas and they weren’t using the four poster beds. Overall disappointing trip.

Had a Nice time
This was our first time going to this resort, and we stayed for 9 days. I was impressed by all the reviews of repeat customers. We had a nice time. We had upgraded to the Royal package. There is also a Premium package. There is not a big difference between the two and not worth the difference in price. If we ever went again we would get the premium. Pros The beach is beautiful and clean. We walked both ways on the beach and this is the best beach at any of the resorts. Snorkeling directly off the beach was amazing. The beach area for royal and premium was very enjoyable. We had waiter service. Aqalino and David were fantastic. With the premium and royal package you also have access to the Vintage Club. Now this was definitely worth it. Ricardo is a gem. Made us our cappuccinos every morning, followed by Mimosas. Xiomeris and Santa were excellent. Always friendly with big smiles. The food at the restaurants as well as the buffet was very good and lots of variety. The resort was super clean, everywhere, Rooms, grounds and restaurants. Every staff member we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Rarely seen at a big resort. Kudos! Cons The rooms are very small and dated. Even the upgraded rooms, in the Catalina building, are still very small and our fridge was in our closet which also took up some room. Thanks to Anthony, (he was fantastic, and so patient with everyone he was dealing with) we got moved to the Saona building. It was older but bigger and there was a sort of dresser that you could put your clothes in. The pool is super busy with loads of people, we didn't go there. They could definitely use another pool. As for shows, they don't really have the shows like we have seen at other resorts. It was the same 4 animators who hosted each evening, except for one or two exceptions.

The resort
Just got back fron the Gran Ventana, many times in Punta Cana, first time in Puerto Plata, We realy like the layout and all activities each day were great , these have a way to people to meet and connect, the layout was a great one , we stayed at the Cathaline building and it was close to the beacn, poll theaater and buffet. The room was very clean and the maintance staff wer always buzy cleaning maintaning the grouds. The restaurats were ok , the one at the beach was the best one. Anthony at the front desk was super helful.

BEST RESORT!
This resort is absolutely amazing! It has a great balance between relaxation and activity time. The entire staff are the best. They work so hard to make the vacation so fantastic. The front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating, the buffet restaurant staff really go out of their way to serve, the washrooms are so clean, the rooms are spotless, the entertainment team, Jesse, Isaac, Carlos, JJ are great!! They are passionate, and want the guests to have a great time. Also, the aqua fit classes and the dance step were great with Christine from nrg2go. The general manager does a presentation to recognize the Gran Ventana staff. The live singer during that evening is amazing, and the dancing is fun. The food is varied, and super fresh. The beach is beautiful, and the shows are good.
