We have been going to the Hottson for many years now and have seen many changes to the hotel. This year we stayed at the Hottson for 4 weeks of our 8 week vacation to Acapulco. The staff are the best from Carlos at the bar to Jose in the restaurant.... too many to list. The food is more Mexican oriented as yes we are in Mexico but we were told NUMEROUS times is there anything we can make for you or get you to eat. The Manager Jesus was very gracious to us and the friends we travelled with . The rooms were clean and spacious making our long stay more enjoyable. You can tell the new management is trying hard to find ways to improve this hotel. We will always choose Hottson as they treat us like family year after year.... Thanks for another great vacation
Nothing to eat
Hello, been coming here since it was crown plaza, has been great 10 on 10 until this year. I don't know if they changed manager to cut cost but they are fur sure losing alot of clients from Canada. Rooms and staff 8 on 10. Food -2 on 10 , we will not be returning to this place ever again. We travel 5 times a year to Mexico so we have tried many hotels and resorts and i never had anything to say bad about but this place really affected me , really glad I am checking out in 2 days and making a complaint with my travel provider ( sunwing) about the false advertising about this place.
Very impressive looking but....
We paid an extra $30 to get upgraded to a Junior Suite in the 25th floor. Make sure you get a corner room!! Doing that made the Acapulco stay that much nicer. First, the room was out of a movie set as it had wraparound balconies allowing a full-on ocean view as well as a complete city view. The amenities were standard 4 star and the linen was decent though I prefer the super soft micro-fiber used in 5 star hotels these days. Breakfast is ok but not great. They charge extra if you ask for a hot chocolate which is nickel & diming. The pools are nice but they also charge a lot extra if you want to use the adult pool upstairs. The upgrade should at least give access to that. The beach out back was closed as the current was strong. The sand was quite gravelly and rough at this section as well. I found that if you have to take a taxi somewhere, you can check the printed hotel price list and then grab a taxi outside and offer 10-15% less - most drivers will accept. It’s especially good for long rides like the airport. Low prices from Sunday to Thursday. Howard S.
Another year at the HS
Our 8th yr. at the HS it’s the same hotel with 3 name changes in 4yrs.They are trying to make upgrades. Some complaints of the food are justified however it’s a 3 * at best and you won’t go hungry. The location is why we like it as we go walking on the Costera most evenings.we stay for 3wks. and staying out of the hotel zone and taking taxis is not appealing. The weather is like no other place and the location keeps us coming back.
First Time at HOTSSON!
This my my first time traveling to Acapulco as well as HS HOTSSON. Overall the trip was great. I purchased the package through Sunwing. Hotel staff were great, room had a nice view of the bay, drinks were good and the food was ok. I read through some off the reviews before I left and I feel different compared to most of the negative reviews. The food does cater to Mexican tastes as 90% of the people staying there are from Mexico, that said, I could always find something good to eat. The staff were all awesome, bartenders, security, cleaning staff etc. If I travel back to Acapulco again in 2021 this hotel will be my first choice! Acapulco itself is extremely safe, don't let the travel warnings give you the wrong idea. I spent each morning hiking into the hills and the local markets and didn't once feel unsafe or threatened... Thanks for having me!
