What We Love

  • The hauntingly beautiful Mexican-Moroccan architecture that's soothing and graceful - it lulls you right into your Chill Zone.
  • Resort privileges at Royal Solaris Cancun - check out the mouthwatering pizzas served by the pool and the kids will love the waterpark.
  • The intimate plazas, or "Mexican squares", where you can spend some quiet time relaxing, enjoying a drink and embracing that, yes, you are actually on vacay.
  • The spa where you can melt into stress-smashing massages, the Jacuzzi, steam room, and more. Pampering Central.
  • Every Thursday, you can watch exotic belly dancers in the lobby whose sensual moves channel women from antiquity.
  • You can enjoy hours of doing nothing on their gorgeous terraces. (That's what getaways are for, right?)
  • Dining at the sublime Bogavante restaurant as you gaze at azure water lapping a few feet away.

Things to Know

  • Take a zip line and soar above the jungle floor. Or, take a guided ride through the local wilderness. TThe staff will help direct you to the best tours in the area.
  • There's a private marina with pedal boats and kayaks for you seafaring folks.
  • Stay fit with tennis, beach volleyball, putt putt golf and a variety of other physical activities.
  • There's an onsite mini golf course and mini water parks next door at Royal Solaris, but both offer BIG fun.
  • For your little ones, there's a Kids Club at Royal Solaris Cancun where they can dive into everything from puzzles to face painting to movies. (Read: lots of activities so they'll sleep well at night).

    Do not recommend

We did not have a great time at this resort and we are quite shocked with how highly rated this place is. The positives are that the resort is clean and the staff is very kind. Our room initially had a missing door handle, a leaking toilet, and a balcony door that was unsealed so the first two nights we had to sleep in pants and hoodies because it was so cold. They fixed the issues in our room on the third day, but our room continued to smell like sewage the entire time. Avoid room 8301 at all costs… it smells like sewage and it’s very gross even sleeping with the bathroom fan on at all times didn’t help. The lobby smells of intense mold smell and what they do is have so many scent machines in the lobby that pump a very strong off putting grandma style perfume. If you have even the slightest sensitivity to smell you cannot spend time in the lobby which is where the only bar/activities are in the evening. I’ve never complained about smell at a hotel before, and I had to press my face into a towel or shirt whenever we were in the lobby because that’s how nauseating this smell is. I would take the mold smell any day over the intense perfume they pump. On the beach the chairs are extremely old and sunken in… half almost touch the bottom of the sand before you even sit in them. They had umbrellas they can set up but only if the chair is at the very back of the beach otherwise it’s a nope! But if you have the higher vip bracelets they can put the umbrella anywhere for you. They have no big umbrellas just the ones that you stick in the sand, which meant whenever it got windy they had to remove all umbreallas so they don’t blow away. Lucky for us this was one of the coldest weeks they’ve had in Mexico with lots of wind every day, so no umbrellas could be used. The food was decent but extremely greasy. One of our family members got sick and we struggled to find plain food that wasn’t full of oil or salt. The potatoes were always swimming in a pool of oil and if you are over 30 it’s likely the food will give you heart burn. We went to the Mexican à la carte restaurant and there was barely any Mexican food. The favourite dish in the group was a curry, and there were no dishes you would expect like tacos, burrito, tortilla soup, guacamole etc. it was a big disappointment. We travelled with WestJet and it is all inclusive so our airport transportation is included. Our representative called our room on the first day and advised they’d be at the hotel desk from 8:30 am - 11 every day. We searched for him every single day with no luck to register for our airport shuttle. Nobody in the hotel knew anything and they all told us different things… some insisted we have to pay for a cab, some insisted you need to first make an appointment (but how? And the representative never said anything about this). We checked every single morning for two hours and nobody was ever there or knew anything they were all clueless and nobody had any contact phone number or anything. It has been a very frustrating experience and we leave tonight and still have no idea what time our shuttle is picking us up. We’ve tried many times to contact someone via email, hotel, the website chat bot nothing has worked the chat bot could t even find our reservation so we might have to resort to taking a cab to the airport even though our shuttle is supposed to be included. Overall an extremely frustrating experience that I don’t recommend.

Great stay at GR Solaris with our family of 5

We had stayed at GR for 10 nights. We are members for 6 years, and this resort never disappointed . The people working there are doing their best, from the cleaning crew to the entertainment crue! Izrael, Ruben, Itzel, Ceez, were my favorite people! Staying around the pool was never boring! We had so much fun! Manuel, at the breakfast restaurant and Aureliano, the waiter serving at the pool, we're so nice and helpful! Food was amazing! No complaints about that! The Restaurants a la carte had spectacular dishes with beautiful presentation , and top notch service! We will definitely go back soon, and hopefully we would meet these people again, as they make you feel "home, away from home".
