Left mortified.
So.. I'm almost afraid to say anything at all. But others should be aware. By the grace of God 🙏🏾 I made it home last night. I was so terrified. I couldn't sleep Thursday night. I only started traveling last January. Been a truck driver over 25 years now. 18 with this company. Went to Cabo last January. Fell in love with Mexico. Came home. Booked Cancún and Puerto Vallarta at the same time. I have lots of holiday pay accumulated over the years I couldn't afford to travel otherwise. Seeing the trip was paid for by holiday pay. And not out of actul pocket. I only took money out to exchange for pesos to generously tip the staff. And vendors. Put a smile on their face. All the staff work so hard. All the staff were great. My shower didn't really work the greatest. Trickled at best. Im a big guy. I didn't say anything. At night time. Music from other locations was still loud. Didn't sleep well. On my last night there. I was informed by a lady that takes reservations for dinner She said . You're leaving tomorrow aren't you? I don't recall telling her But she knew. I said yes. 4pm flight She told me you must leave early. All the roads would be blocked for protesting early at 9am. So I began to have a panic attack. Wasn't sure what was going on. Front desk said nothing. No warnings to others. I woke up and thought to use Google. A Facebook post came up saying the roads would be closed for protesters all day starting at 0900. I left the resort at 0800. Had I waited 30min longer. All access roads to the airport were blocked. I monitored on Google map traffic. I would still be there tonight. And not back home in Canada. None of this is on the news. Those roads are still blocked right now tonight. The day after. I've never been so terrified in my life. I'm thankful that the Young Lady told me that so I could get home. There were old people who walked 3km through a protest area. Medical staff were dealing with them in the waiting area before checkin. Maybe this is normal for some Not me I have been a bag of nerves since arriving back home. 50 years old but I look younger than my age. Absolutely terrified Can't even sleep back home at the moment. Nightmares last night. Not Fiesta Americanas fault. Maybe I should've reviewed the location better. I went solo I am single n straight. Not used to dudes hitting on me . Not my thing Felt pretty uncomfortable after that. Take that for what you will. Maybe this wouldn't bother others.

Our Third Visit Is a Charm, Again!
We were greeted with “Welcome Home!” by staff members! Assistance was offered at every turn! Cassandra D. made us feel so welcome and comfortable. She remembered us from previous visits and reminded us to only ask, if there was anything we needed, to make our stay better! How generous! All the staff members were friendly and obliging. We certainly enjoyed our time at the Sonne Club (21+ only)!! My husband and I felt pampered up there on the second floor, pool and hot tubs; ‘beverages’ and an in-house grill!!!!!! Raffie and Nacho treated us like royalty! Cassandra D. checked in on us and showed concern when I got too much sun! We have enjoyed the food at each of the restaurants we’ve been to!! Still a couple more to investigate!!! Our trip isn’t over yet and I look forward to the days to come!!

Very Good
We really enjoyed this hotel (and we don't say that often). Check-in was simple and quick, the room was good, the location excellent, and the beach/pool area relaxing and clean. Room: We were on the 4th floor, and while the room's bathroom needed some upgrading, the bed was comfy, the a/c was quiet and the view was spectacular. We had one problem (noise that turned out to be from next door) which was addressed very quickly thanks to the Maintenance team. Food: At first I was surprised to hear that there was no buffet for lunch or supper, but now I understand why. Making supper a la carte reservations was easy and we always got the times we wanted. The food was quite good - especially the Asian restaurant and the Cevicheria - and the BBQs on the beach were very much appreciated. The buffets were not needed and frankly probably ends in a lot of food waste. The food here was better quality than buffets can provide. When we arrived of course we didn't have a reservation and they were gracious enough to get us into a restaurant anyway (we could have also done the 24 hour room service or gone across the street though). Bar/Lobby: We didn't spend much time in the main bar as it was very loud, but there were live bands there throughout the week. We spent more time at the pool bar. One suggestion I have is that guests should be able to be served at the pool bar in the evenings (since the Italian restaurant is right there and gets their drinks at the pool bar anyway). We were often told it was closed. Pool/beach: The beach was nice (there were rocks but they were off to the side), the pool was nice and cool, and the service there was pretty good. One suggestion I'd have here is that the pool probably needs an upgrade: its not very deep, some of the tile are needing repair, and in some places the underwater lights are hanging out of their sockets. But there was plenty of shade and enough loungers for all! Location: Very good, across the street from a mall, down the street from a food park, sports bar and restaurants and the Malecon is only a 10 minute drive away. Speaking of driving, be careful crossing the street! While we were there someone was hurt attempting to cross the three lanes of traffic. There seemed to be fireworks every night from other hotels along the strip. Overall: We would go back, and we don't say that very often!
