Fiesta Americana Cozumel was fine but not our favorite.
We have stayed at a Fiesta Americana (Puerto Vallarta - the old location) before and we were very impressed. We were hoping that this resort would also be as great. It was not a bad experience but you need to temper your expectations. First, you will notice that the building and common areas are somewhat run-down. Chipped tiles and peeling paint. Everything was clean, however. The staff does a great job at keeping it clean. Overall, the food was somewhat mediocre. The Cevicherria (our favorite), Sushi station, and the Mexican restaurant were all great. The Asian restaurant was "meh" (ridiculously small portions) and Italian was alright. We ordered lunch by the pool twice - once it was great and once it was not so great. The buffet food was overall disappointing and even though we were told they are open at 6:30 am, we went every morning at about 7:15-7:30 and it felt like they just were not ready for guests yet, making it feel awkward and not all the food is put out. Alejandra, the hostess is just wonderful, however. The pool bar does not open until 11. So, if you get to the pool at 9am, you will have to wait 2 hours before getting any sort of beverage. Bring something down from your room if you think you'll be thirsty. Miguel, the pool server, was super however. Angel - pool activities - was really great, however, overall there's just not a lot to do at the resort or many activities. The music is good and it's fun to play trivia or bingo occasionally but I've been to resorts that have more activities than that. They did have some night time entertainment but it was usually while we were at dinner. Also, the "saving" of pool loungers - we saw a whole entire row of loungers being "saved" for an entire day and nobody actually came to use them. They need to enforce that. If you aren't there in an hour, you should lose your lounger. There is room for more loungers, too - they could add a bunch more. I didn't think the lack of beach would bother me but turns out, I missed having a beach. This resort also does not have a hot tub. I would have liked a hot tub. The rooms could use more wall hooks for towels and swimsuits. There was one single hook on the wall by the shower. My husband and I could not both hang our towels up to dry after our shower. The digital thermostat in our room was so bright it was bothersome at night. The room seemed to always be cold no matter what I set the temp to. Housekeeping did a great job every day. Again, everything is kept very clean. It's not that I would not stay here again, but Fiesta Americana Cozumel was just lacking some things that I would probably look elsewhere for. I wish that there were more options for food in the evening that don't require reservations. I don't love having to decide days in advance when I might feel like eating. It would be nice to just decide to grab a meal at the buffet (not open in the evening here) or quick service like a burger and fries when we wanted. I also wish there was more to keep us entertained while we were on the resort grounds.

Terrific Resort!!! but avoid Room 520 until some changes are made.
Hello This was probably our 6th trip to F.A.C. for good reason. I thoroughly check potential locations in Cozumel but nothing else comes close for what we are looking for. FAC has terrific staff, snorkeling, location and view rooms. We usually stay in a Master Suite Oceanfront but this year I thought we would try the Honeymoon Suite (ours was room 520) and the room was not an intimate setting like the Master Suite. The room itself was in need of some very fundamental repairs. I can't speak for the condition of the other Honeymoon Suites, but if they are the same layout I wouldn't choose it for a couple. However, the suite size and layout would be excellent for someone with children or for 2 couples. Aside from this room, eveything was great and we will plan to return soon. We really enjoy the seaside buffet, burger spot, and especially the seafood place. The sushi bar is a real treat and we ate at the Asian restaurant and the Italian restaurant. The Italian restaurant has a terrific ouside veranda section as well as the indoor area. We enjoyed all our meals. The bar for the patio and pool was excellent with excellent friendly and staff serving and real drinks. Also, if you don't drink alcohol (me) the bloody Mary and mojito without alcohol, the Miami Vice and the Mexican lemonade are terrific. As in much of Cozumel, the entry into good snorkeling areas is fine but don't expect a sandy beach. A special thanks to the resort for the thoughtful champagne and chocolates in our room and for continuing to maintain the best location in Cozumel to us. The staff are friendly and most helpful, with Lucio, Glendy, Luis and Edwardo being very special to us.

Spectacular Cozumel Vaca at Fiesta Americana
I started coming here for dive vacations in 2001. This is my 20th trip back. Workers are so friendly and accommodating. I am sure there will be a 21st trip. 😎

Jan 2026 Review
Overall had a great experience. The rooms are are bit outdated and the rooms felt moist. My only complaint is do not rent a vehicle from the activity center on premise. I went to rent a car and he charged me $130 fo 24 hours walked me out front to a man who was charging $85. He also did not mention that I didn’t need to rent it for 24 hours. I could’ve only rented it for five hours which would’ve been perfect. This is poor customer service.

Amazing Resort and Amazing Team!!!!
My husband and I had an absolutely amazing time at this resort!!! I don’t know where to begin. We were treated like family from the start to the very last second we were there. Yazmin, Angel, Belem, Edgar, Miguel are AMAZING!!!! I can’t express my gratitude enough for this crew. We were very sad to leave, but cannot wait to return. I also had a massage and Naomi was phenomenal. I have missed this place and my new family since the moment I left!!!! Thank you all again for the love and hospitality shown to my husband and I. I just Love, Love, Love you all and this resort!!!
