Oyster Bay Beach Resrot not the place to stay if you have any medical or health issues
We checked in for one night before our week began at the timeshare portion and were put in the garden area which has steps in order to access the units. I have an issue with breathing and they were fully aware of this situation from last year. We had an issue last year with Ricardo Perez, the general manager, who got mad when we would not purchase a unit in the elevator building (only one building has elevators). The entire resort is all steps, but some locations are easier than others with less steps. After that week, we were placed in the gardens and I was forced to climb 14 steps each and every time we left and returned. When we spoke to Marion at Oyster Bay, she said she could not change our location as it came from the top (ricardo perez). This year it carried over and we were placed in the gardens once again. My partner fell on the steps trying to get to our unit. Once that happened, we left and did not spend our vacation week at Oyster. They are never fully booked and we were told that they could not do anything for us. My recommendation to anyone who is older and cannot do steps or a lot of walking is don't go to Oyster Bay. The accomodations are mediocre at best. Not exactly the cleanest of the timeshares on the island. We will never return to that timeshare as they appear to be very vindictive and do not take their timeshare owners into consideration.

Wonderful Class Assignment Experience
I am a local on the island attending the University of St. Maarten, and visiting one of the hotels was part of our assignment. Visiting this hotel was a great experience. The front desk was very kind and welcomed us with a huge smile. That is something that we don't see all the time as residents. Their brunch was AMAZING! From our waiters to the servers at the buffet area, they added extra points to the already amazing food. Our tour guides (from the resort itself and Coral Beach Club) were very nice and informative. We saw the Moonsail room, and it was SPECTACULAR! I must confess that I never thought about staying here before. However, after spending a few hours there, I shall be returning with my family whenever there is a holiday or when we are on vacation. Btw, I am planning on watching an NFL game at the bar very soon. I would highly recommend coming here!

A 3-Star Hotel, not a resort. AVOID its timeshare!
The good: - Great infinity pool and jacuzzi, open 24 hours - Some employees were great The bad: - It is not a resort, but just a hotel. They say is 5 stars, but is a 3-4 stars at best - Studios are small and very outdated, with the cheapest selection from the local Home Depot - Inconsistent service. The ladies at reservations and the staff at front desk were nasty and raised their voices very easily - Location is far away, with very little to do around. Main attractions are 30 min away - Nearby beach is a disaster, with dark waters and dirty sand, if any - Smelly marina - Resort charges fees for everything. Beware! - Timeshare program is now a disaster, only intended to squeeze owners. DO NOT BUY. And if you are still interested, owners offer online their membership for free - Customer service is a disaster. They simply ignore you I am a timeshare owner since 2000, but did not visit the hotel for the last 5 years. I went there with friends on ultra low season (October), with the resort almost empty. I requested a studio with front ocean views in three different occasions to the ladies at reservations. They were nasty and raised their voices repeating “is upon availability!” (which I fully know). Upon arrival I did not get the requested view, with nobody explaining why. When I complained, the front desk man was also nasty, raised his voice and was very rude. Still did not get it. Instead, they gave us rooms with a side view to the smelly beach. I know they had renovated rooms available with the views, but they give the worst rooms to owners. When I purchased the timeshare program in 2000, it was great. Now is horrible - You get a flexible week (you can use any week subject to availability). Now they have very little availability - If you can not use the week, you could “save” it for 2 years. Now the saving has been reduced to just one year - You could upgrade the studio to a one or two bedrooms by paying a treasonable fee of $250 or $350. Now they increased the upgrade fees 3 times to almost $900 - Monthly maintenance was reasonable. Now it represents the same annual cost of paying a better hotel for a week. Where is the current benefit? - Upon arrival, they still charge you for utilities (up to $25/day) and for taxes ($50). I went with friends and they also charged them $75, even being with me AVOID THE HOTEL AND THE TIMESHARE!
