Five star front desk staff
We have stayed at the Emerald Beach resort many times on our way to and from our home on Tortola, British Virgin Islands. The only time we stay somewhere else ( and regret it) is when we get priced out. The EBR seems to range from $180 ish a night to $365! We do understand seasonal changes but that is too wide a range. That is not the point of this review. We were greeted last Sat, March 22 2020 by Ajahi on the front desk. He went out of his way to get us into a ground floor room as quickly as possible..even checking personally to make sure the room had been cleaned. Just amazing service and someone who should be greatly appreciated by management. Our stay was very nice..good breakfast with charming restaurant and bar staff. When this nightmare is over we will be back..unless the rooms are $350 plus a night!!
Surpassed my Expectations
A little pricey for a 3-star hotel, even in the USVI. However, the grounds, rooms and bar area were well maintained. Although we didn't use the pool it appeared very inviting. Many families took full advantage of it and they seemed pumped. The bartender knew her stuff. Pumping out Painkillers (famous British Virgin Islands cocktail), about 10 of them, seemed third grade for her. Yes, Teresa was that good. Although the cocktails were a bit pricey, the $25 coupon given to us by the front desk when we checked in, help significantly. I enjoyed our one day stay. If the lodging cost was less, we would have spent our entire 7 vacation days there oppose to AirBnB.
This resort wildly exceeded my expectations! Beautiful grounds and beach, good food, friendly staff, and a host of cute resort cats to boot. It was also such a good value for St. Thomas. I definitely recommend it!
Mistake for the price.
$320/night king size - Greeted with front door / security handle falling off, screws loose / falling off. Safe Broken. Scalding hot water then cold hot water, no water pressure. Dirty floors. Last stay for us. Between rude taxi drivers, ferry costs, multiple taxis will fly into Tortola next time.
Do you want a hot shower?
My husband and 3 month old stayed her in March for 5 days. I really have mixed feelings on my stay. I'll start out with the positive aspects, because the hotel isn't all that bad. For one, the hotel is right on the water and every room has a beautiful view of the ocean. The hotel is on the beach, and has beach chairs for guests' use. The pool is decent sized and is well kept with ample pool side seating. There is also a very cute beach bar, and restaurant (we never went to it, so cant comment on the quality). Now for the cons: *we specifically booked her because their website said they have cribs. We requested a crib and were told, "we will work on it and send it to your room." Well, 7 hours later, no crib and no word from the hotel, so we called and asked. "Sorry, we cant seem to find one." Great, were you going to tell us? Or just let us keep waiting? Since we have an infant, who clearly needs a crib, we had to buy a bassinet at Kmart. We asked to use a screwdriver to assemble it, but were told they dont have any...so, we had to buy overpriced screwdrivers as well. I asked for a discount because of the inconvenience, and it was denied. *no hot water. I called the front desk and informed them...a maintenance worker came by our room and asked us if we turned the water on the right way. Um, yes. We aren't idiots. He proceeded to mess around with the pipe by the sink, which didnt fix the hot water issue. But, it did cause the sink to start leaking water all over the floor. #awesome. I called the front desk a few hours later and told them the hot water still isnt weed working and was told, "don't worry, we will figure out what to do." We never heard back from the front desk, and were forced to take cold showers. Let me tell you how fun it is is to give a baby a cold bath. 😒 I also want to note that the hotel was not full, so we could have just been given another room. *cockroaches. The front door isnt flush to the floor and lots of bugs crawled in/out throughout our stay. *rightnextto the airport. Literally. Convenient, but loud. I think I've written enough. The rooms are spacious, although outdated, and we had a balcony with a beautiful view of the bay. Would I stay again knowing I'd have to buy my own crib (despite their website saying they have cribs) and take cold showers? I'm not sure I would. Book your room with caution. The price wasnt cheap enough to account for all of the cons. If you're not traveling with children, dont mind a cold shower and arent squimish about bugs, then go ahead and book away! You'll at least enjoy the view and the beach!
