El Dorado Seaside Suites
My have wife and I have been travelling throughout Mexico and the Caribbean a couple of times a year for the past 20 yrs and have experienced everything from 3 stars to 5 stars. I'm writing this review based on our experience only and will say we had a great vacation as usual. Secondly, I know management reads reviews, hopefully this can help. We travelled as a couple from Dec 10-20th. Location: Mayan Riviera about 1hr 15 mins from the Cancun airport. The resort itself is broken into the Seaside Suites and the Palms. This is not your typical resort where there's a beach central pool or two and then the resort buildings behind that. Its very spread out with the Seaside Suites Main Lobby building being a 5 min shuttle from the actual suites that you see in all the pictures. The ground floor of this building also holds the main buffet and a couple other restaurants. The Palms main lobby is at the bottom of the main boulevard coming into the resort with the Palms rooms and amenities to the west and Seaside suites to the east. NOTE: There are plenty of golf carts that will shuttle you around throughout the day. The Beach: The Seaside has sand under the Bali beds but there's not much of a beach. You will see pics of a beach with a short rock wall, thats the Seaside. The Palms has a more traditional beach which is adequate and very well maintained. The resort has placed breakwaters a few hundred feet out so you can easily wade into the ocean, nice and sandy and there is some snorkeling there. NOTE: This is not like Cancun, Negril or Bavaro beach which go on for miles. We also found plenty of chair / beds on both beaches even at 9am. Worth noting, because the Seaside Beach is to the northeast on the point, while the Palms is protected in a bay, we found it substantially hotter at the Palms. The rooms: we stayed in 6217 at the Suites. The room was very clean, nice bathrooms and super comfy beds but the rooms are worn / dated. Furniture is a little dinged up, cracked tiles etc. I was disappointed with the swim-out. Ours had many tiles missing, rust and we had a drip coming from the pool above. If not anything, it wasn't the most appealing especially when you look at the beautiful picture of the resort. This is what they are selling! NOTE: we could only see palm trees. To enjoy the ocean view, ask for a room on the 3rd floor or higher. The fridge is stocked with 8 beers, 6 pop and some snacks daily. The food and bars: The location and navigating around the resort was probably the biggest topic of conversation among the guests. I know the hotel gives you a list of the restaurants and when they are opened, whether or not you require reservations, don't lose that list! There is also an app and a channel on the TV but its not all correct and often missing restaurants. Note for the hotel: You want to have the communication folks tidy that up making sure all mediums are the same and correct. I would also suggest the hotel puts a few large hotel maps in key points throughout the properties with an "X" you are here and showing all the amenities, For example: I seen countless people looking for the BBQ. They could smell it, hear music but couldn't see it. The resort grounds are beautiful but when the say Palms, they mean it! Guests will check things out for themselves given a little direction. Food: Overall we found the food very good, not great when comparing it to other 5 star resorts like Grand Iberostar, Majestic etc.. As well, the choice although it was good was not as large as other 5 star resorts. We did enjoy the true Mexican options throughout the resort and with most meals. Bars: were all great, service was quick and drinks were good, like most all-inclusives, if you want a particular brand, just ask. Note: there was a wide selection of decent brands. For ex. I'm a gin guy and had a choice between Tanqueray, Bombay, Beef Eater etc.. Note to the hotel: there should be a lounge of some sort on the Seaside portion of the resort for the evenings. I believe there used to be one on the 4th floor. We found every night was the Palms. As much as the live entertainment is appreciated some night just chliin is cool too, The views from the towers would be a great place for a lounge! The service at this resort was a 10 out of 10. Every employee cant do enough when you engage with them. If you run into questions and you will, just ask. They are very happy to help. All said, this resort is only 4, maybe 4.5 star in Mexico. I get it why so many guests are return because it does have a charm mainly due to the staff but I think they still have some work to do. Hope this helps!

Beware of trying to get a refund for cancellation from this hotel.
We made a reservation for this hotel. I paid extra money to get a refundable booking. I hurt my hip the following day and will need surgery so I called to cancel the reservation. They made it extremely difficult for me. I had to write in an email why I was canceling and then the email would be forwarded to their accounting department who would then make a decision as to whether my booking could be refunded. I waited a week and didn’t get my refund. I called and was told that it takes several weeks to hear back with the decision. This was absolutely unacceptable. We have had to cancel reservations at other hotels and it has been done automatically and immediately. I read very poor reviews about this hotel and this is another one, do not book with this hotel.

I visit this resort every yr. Part of my Travel Club. We love it here. The beach is beautiful and I am an ocean person!! My trips are always with a friend or a few friends! There a a few amazing people that look after us every yr. Their service and helpfulness are outstanding. They make our holiday stress free , very relaxing and fun. No worries. Our butlers, ANA, Arturo, Julian and Azul checked in with us every day. Our beach butlers in the members area, Kalvin and Gabriel, made every day at the beach very relaxing . And our absolutely favourite waiter at the Seaside Market breakfast restaurant, Heriberto!!! All of these amazing people went out of their way to make every day special for us.

Ocean View Swim Out Suite, Yes Please!
This was our first All Inclusive and our first time to Mexico! We loved our stay at El Dorado Seaside Suites! An Oceanview Swim-out Suite, yes please! We enjoyed everything that this resort had to offer including the Roundtrip transportation through Lomas to and from the resort/ airport! The resort is a 55 min ride away from the Cancun airport (depending on traffic and shared transportation) Once we arrived on the resort we were warmly welcomed by Miriam and Fernando! Gerardo checked us smoothly and then we were guided to our suite! We were in 7511 on the suites side and our room was amazing! So spacious and clean! The views were stunning and the swim out was perfect! The only negative in our suite was the jets in the jacuzzi tub did not work for us. We spent 7 nights at the resort and fell in love with everything! The resort is beautiful and every single employee works so hard! They always spoke to us and made us feel at home / welcomed. We loved catching the shuttle when we didn’t know where something was located. Mateo was our favorite shuttle driver, he would always pick us up even if we were walking somewhere! He was exceptionally friendly. We participated in a few activities and our host was Luis, his energy and excitement was refreshing! Luis made the activity enjoyable! The signature drink (chocolate / flower pot) is a must! So delicious. I truly enjoyed learning about mezcal at the margarita making class with Jesus! We enjoyed the more inclusive excursions too! We did the catamaran boat ride / day trip to Maroma Beach and it was amazing! Book the trip we cannot wait to return! The food was great and we could always find an available Bali bed!
