This hotel will grow on you!

Perfect for snorkeling as others have noted! Beautiful view with the added interest of cruise ships arriving & departing. This hotel will grow on you; it is smaller than we were used to with fewer restaurants & bars, but no waiting for service. The bonus in this is that the staff goes out of their way to make your stay comfortable. We needed a king bed to elevate an arm after surgery, the always cheerful Barbara came back with the manager who gave us an upgrade to a panarama suite-perfect! The specialty restaurants offer tasty cuisine, beautifully presented, & stagger the number of guests so you don't feel crowded-all waiters pleasant & efficient. Maid service was very good. Alejandro & Roberto- very helpful & with a superb sense of humor-so nice to be able to laugh with someone, isn't it? Many returning guests which speaks volumes. Not a big fancy hotel, but it has much to offer if you relax & go with the flow.

Great way to so end spring break during this time.

Fine dinning...8 am to sign your name. They clean the seaweed every day. One beer, I didn't mind. Great mixed drinks. Great food. Biggest room, ocean plus! Stayed 8 days, dollars $200 for tips, didn't want for anything. Occasional smell around the bar pool, but only on occasion. Hammocks every night to watch the sun decend. We had the best time!

    Great time !

This was our second time at El Coz and won't be the last , the vaca started out terrible , our first plane had a problem , we boarded twice and by this we missed our connecting flight so we flew out the next day and the Resort took care of that and we stayed an extra two days to make up lost time ! The people at the front desk were awesome as well as the rest of the people that work there , very friendly and helpful , we were there two years ago and this time the food was a lot better , we never left the resort which was ok by me , yes the place is dated but how long are you in the room , if you are looking for glitz and glitter this place isn't for you the pools were good ,a little cool and the beach was awesome to the right of the resort but great for walking , for the price , you can't go wrong , we have bin traveling for 30 years and have seen a lot of places ,its not the best but for sure not the worst , Go and enjoy ! you won't regret it !We got home on 3/15/2020 the day all the VIRUS stuff started and this the first time i could sit down and write this review !

    Covid 19 vacation

We arrived on March 14-21 2020 the hotel is not far from the airport just a short cab ride. Upon arriving we were greeted by the bellman who welcomed us and told us to register and he would look after our luggage. We arrived early so our room would not be ready for sometime. We changed and went for lunch to the restaurant by the water. The property is small and dated but very clean. The food was not plentiful but what was offered was good. The wait staff were awesome. Shout out to Alex, Juan , Angel and Jose, Miguel to name a few they went above and beyond. We ate of the 7 night 4 at the Veranda the food was awesome. Our rooms were clean and sheets changed everyday that might be because of Covid19. I would say the rooms need a good cleaning and some of the furniture is rusty and needs replacing. The lampshades and couch in our room should be replaced. Also with all the focus on covid19 the air conditioning vents in the room was black and I am sure not healthy for breathing day in day out. It is not a resort that is hip and happening. If you love to snorkel and dive it’s right there on the beach. Kayaking, paddle boarding, and seadoo rentals. We enjoyed the property and how small it was, easy to access everything. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel 1603 lovely view from our room Would certainly come back to this resort Thanks

    desperate need of help

this resort is old. definitely needs major work. first and probably the best is the staff. they are amazing! pool staff, buffet, cleaning... they are wonderful! the food is not good. this needs to be fixed. with one buffet and one restaurant that needs reservation, the food should be much, much better. i upgraded to the 9th floor and i personally think it was a waste of money. i don't feel i received anything different than anyone else. the biggest negative at the resort is the loungers, you don't have enough. when you have to set your alarm for 6:00A on your vacation to get to the pool to save a chair, that's bad. you don't have enough chairs. it might help if you didn't let the people take the chairs to their room and put them on their balcony. at 11:00A people were sitting on towels on the concrete pool deck cuz they chairs where gone. and you have to get the guests to stop saving chairs at 6:00A and not showing up till 1:00P! if the pool staff notices chairs with a towel but empty for a couple hours, take the towel and open up that chair. overall, i will not come back and will not recommend this resort to anyone.
