    Will not disappoint!!!

I will do some pros and cons here. First not many cons. Cons- 1-Beach is not the most stunning to view. More on beach in the pros. 2-Buffet is the smallest I have seen at all inclusive resorts. 3-No night life entertainment 4- swim up bar not in use Anything else would be not picking I think Pros- 1-Beach- sand you can actually walk in barefoot without rolling your ankle. As you get older you will understand this comment. 2-Sand leading into water is still compact and easy to walk into and out barefooted. 3-Water- crystal clear with fish everywhere even at ankle deep. Great for beginners and advanced. Also the water is very calm, which makes it perfect for drinking a beer or frozen drink, or even plain ol colas in the water. Do not have to worry about waves ruining your beverage. 4-Pools. Two of them, main pool is very nice , never over crowded, planty of pool chairs for everyone.. Water was not hot . Felt very good. Pools stays open till at least 11pm. Late nights at the pool was wonderful. 5-Rooms - Were good I thought, nice balcony with a Caribbean view. Beds & pillows were comfortable. Showers had hot & cold with door for privacy. Did I mention cold a/c was spot on. Refrigerator had no drinks other than free bottle water. 6-Hotel grounds - were clean and in pretty good shape. 7- Staff Front desk- easy check in and lady was very friendly. No complaints here. Concierge- no complaints again, very prompt, friendly. Cooks- fix you probably anything you ask , food was good. Bartenders & waiters- again no complaints, very friendly and attentive. Maids- excellent job at keeping rooms spotless and yes they were friendly too Pool guy- even this guy would say hi and wave to you as he was cleaning. A great staff from top to bottom which always makes your stay and want to come back again. This resort is more for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the water. Not a party hotel by no means. One more plus, this is a decent size hotel with very little walking needed. From elevator to pool it maybe 100 feet. Get out of pool and 50 more feet your in the Caribbean. One of the closest st ups I have ever seen. Again very little walking required. Big, big plus to me. This is probably one of the best resorts for the money. It will be hard to find a better overall resort dollar for dollar. The negative reviews I'm guessing is from the previous ownership of this place. Changed ownership in the last year or two is my understanding. Anyway hope this helps your Cozumel decision making.

You’re basically paying for the beach and views!

I stayed with my sister for four nights. First impressions were beautiful water, beaches, views! Very clean and clear. All of those are unbeatable. Absolutely! However, the hotel is very dated. We stayed on the 8th floor. Second day, NO hot water at all. Told the front desk who assured us someone would come fix it. Came back from a day of fun…still no hot water. At 11:30 at night, they knocked on our door saying they were there to fix it. Uh, NO! Didn’t open the door for them. Complained to front desk next day. They said that was unacceptable and sent someone later. However, I don’t think they really thought it was an issue. Weird! Food was mediocre. Drinks were ok. Service staff was awesome. Our guided snorkeling at the hotel was a bonus. Housekeeping were angels. Loved coming back to clean room and nicely made beds. And bottled water. Overall, I would stay again for the beach, view, and water. It was a lot like glamping!

    A wonderful family reunion

In general, the experience was very good. The hotel is beautiful but in need of TLC, some repairs, maintenance of common areas and rooms.

Horribly outdated hotel with lots of issues!

Where do I even begin? It all started at check-in. I had done the pre-check in at home before we left, but our check in still took forever. We were a family of four and had requested connecting rooms. I understand it is a request, but we ended up on completely different floors. I had made many emails and calls prior to make the requests. We were now separated from the kids' rooms. The rooms the first night were terrible. One had an out of control A/C and the rooms was literally like the arctic zone at 64 degrees. My kids were freezing. The doors to the rooms were so bad and patched up here and there. Our room on the 5th floor was terrible as well. We had a clogged sink in the bathroom, a toilet that did not flush properly and it stunk like sewer. Thankfully the next morning we were moved to connecting rooms. We had to downgrade our rooms in order to do so, but we were okay with that and happy we were all together. Our happiness was short lived. We noticed there were no phones in the rooms and so in order to call our other family members we literally had to call the hotel from our cell phones, connect to the front desk who then would transfer us to the rooms. So weird there were no phones and in my opinion super unsafe when having to relay messages to guests and I will get to that in a minute. There was no hot water in the rooms. We only used the hot water faucet and the water was luke warm. We mostly had cold showers every day. The restaurant had the same food almost every day. Very little choices and the food was not very good. They regularly ran out of food as well. The only way to escape the heat is to go to your room. There is no A/C in the lobby, the restaurant is outdoors and there are no fans. Make sure to wear bug spray in the evenings so you don't get eaten alive by mosquitos. The Veranda restaurant also has no A/C and it is like a sweat box. They make you wear pants and so be ready to be uncomfortable there. The pools are super filthy and don't get cleaned. The pool bar is not even open and it looks like it has not been used in years. Don't expect to be able to lounge in the pool getting drinks from the pool bar, because it is just super run down and out of commission. There were cockroaches in the stairways. On our last day there was no hot water again. Later in the afternoon there was no water coming out of the hot water faucet at all, so it was shut off. Cold showers again while we had to get ready for our picture appointment. Later in the evening during dinner, the power went out. Granted it went out on a portion of the island, but it took the hotel forever to even get generators up so we could have small light on in the hallways, lobby and rooms. The A/C went out as well and we were without power for about 4-5 hours. Finally late at night it all came back up. I had booked a shuttle with MTS to/from the airport and during our departure they sent a regular cab to pick us up when they knew we were with 4 people and 2 large suitcases and carry ons. We obviously did not fit - they had to get a van, but it was a taxi. What happened to my shuttle that I paid for? The one thing I will say is that most of the staff is super friendly. Especially Federico, the bellman. He was so nice and helped us out with our room change and get a van on our way to the airport. Such a sweet man and we appreciate him. The beach and the snorkeling is great and so we spent our days there, as the pools were so dirty we did not use them much. We felt bad for the staff at the Cozumeleno. The owners of this property need to invest a lot of money to get this hotel back up to par. It is seriously in need of improvements, upgrades and repairs. We will not return to this hotel. I suggest you save your money and try a different resort.

Best service and experience in Cozumel

I have been to this hotel 15 times in the last 11 years. It will always be my favorite due to the incredible servers and service provided, the food at the fancy restaurant is always amazing, great taste, incredible aesthetic, best soup in the world and lots of options. The beach is the best on the island, clear, lots of fish, soft sand. Alejandro, Paulino, and Santiago, always take amazing care of us and we already can’t wait to go back again.
