  I disappointed my family!

  Booked a family group vacation about 6 months prior for 16 people and travelled December 28-January 4th, 2026. I had stayed in a Dreams resort in Cancun sometime ago and thought this would be a great resort given its name and reviews and our extended family were so excited. I have stayed at 15-20 different resorts over the years in Cancun and Maya Riviera area so I have a lot to compare to. Started off rough when we got to resort and none of our rooms were together at all. We made this request 6 months before! Air Canada Vacations assured us that they put our request in. The front desk gentlemen was very combative and argumentative and was zero help and had no customer service skills and did nothing for us. One of our rooms was not even ready until 8pm that night. The resort is just ok with decent grounds and pools but rooms are sadly dated. There is a strong sewer smell on the beach close to the preferred side that does not let up. Food was not great either. We could never get a table for our group to actually eat together and staff made us feel like a big inconvenience. The unlimited luxury advertisement is actually funny as you cannot even get bacon at breakfast buffet! You can wait in long line to get an omelet and ask for bacon and they may give you a piece. The only really good meal we had was at the mexican restaurant that was closed most of the week we were there. Yes you do not have to make reservations but good luck getting a table. I would prefer the reservation system as then at least you know you can actually eat at them. We never got one single table for our entire group at any of the restaurants for the whole week. We had to separate and even then we did not even get to eat at all the restaurants. We were all so excited to celebrate the new year together... Well guess what? You could get a table for 10 people for $1500-2000 USD for their celebration! Insane! All inclusive luxury? Unbelievable. So basically they said you could wait in line to try to get in and stand around in a little area but not be able to sit at table or eat the dinner if you did not pay. So new years ruined as well for our group as we were not about to pay that ridiculous price! I guess the good news is we got to eat the leftovers from new years at the buffet for 2 days later - gross. You also get the bonus of being harassed to attend the Hyatt vacations presentations daily which was also nice. My son-in-laws diabetic pump was moved from a lounge chair into the sun as a staff member took a chair and umbrella and left their stuff on one chair in the sun. They were swimming in the ocean at the time and my sister saw the staff member move their stuff but did not realize it was theirs at the time. Went to front desk told them what happened and they sent me to concierge and they again argued with me and did absolutely nothing. This was dangerous as his equipment could have been damaged by being in the sun and this puts his life in jeopardy. No concern what so ever. We were interested to see if this resort was really nice as we are also planning a family destination wedding and would not "dream" of having it there now. Lastly, we had a family photo shoot and we had 5 members of our family purchase very expensive packages and one person still has not got theirs with our large group photos included and i cannot reach anyone so far. There are so many great resorts in this entire area so go to one of those is my honest advice. I was the one who planned this for my family and feel terrible that it was my choice to go there and had such a disappointing experience.

  We have a great time with Erick and Victor, the Zumba instructors. It was fun and we enjoyed it so much with our friends (10 of us). Thank you for having them entertain us during our stay.

  Think before you book!

  Our stay at Dreams Tulum was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The problems began at check in. We were told to return at 3:00 PM for our room. When we arrived at that time, we were repeatedly given the runaround and ultimately did not receive our room until close to 5:00 PM. There was little communication or accountability, which set a very frustrating tone for the stay. Once in the room, we consistently had issues with no running water and no hot water. We reported these problems multiple times, yet they were never fully resolved. Basic amenities should not be ongoing issues at a resort of this caliber. Adding to the frustration, there was a strong sewage smell throughout large areas of the property, including near guest rooms and common spaces. This made it unpleasant to spend time outside and significantly detracted from the overall experience. The beach was another major letdown. Cleanup was very poor, with seaweed and debris left unattended, making the beach difficult to enjoy. Overall, the resort fell far short of expectations in terms of maintenance, cleanliness, and guest service. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Dreams Tulum.
