Amazing location, vibe, and staff, lacking food options
We absolutely loved our stay at this Cancun resort. The location is stunning with white sand, turquoise waters, and a walkable beach. The landscaping is beautiful, and the pool and ocean access are fantastic. We spent our days in the loungers and pool, enjoying drinks from the swim-up and beach bars. Our king ocean balcony room had an incredible view, though the wind on the first night was very strong and came through the door. The food was okay, but not ideal for those with food allergies. Labeling was limited, and options were somewhat bland, especially for gluten or dairy restrictions. Overall, the resort is gorgeous, and the staff were amazing. The food options are the only reason we might not return, but we had an incredible time.

Great Stay - Wish Weather Would Have Been Warmer
Very pleasant stay at this resort. Although people have complained about the resort being dated, I did not find this to be the case. We found the resort to be very clean, most restaurants were great, and the coffee bar was the busiest place on the resort. Omelette lady worked so hard (please remember to tip her directly). Gustavo on the beach was extra helpful making sure beach chairs were available for everyone and would always check in on us to make sure our needs were met. Abraham knew exactly when to come for our drink/water order. Best food on the beach were the hamburgers and the shrimp tacos! We loved our morning conversations with Melissa. This resort has great staff overall.

Top- Notch Preferred club pool/bar staff
Gerson was amazing during my most recent trip, especially considering I injured my knee right before vacation and getting around was difficult. He took incredible care of me in the Preferred pool/bar area and truly made the beachfront experience so much more enjoyable. He went above and beyond with thoughtful, attentive service, and even helped by getting ice for my knee when I needed it. His kindness, positive attitude, and attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed, and it made a huge difference in my ability to relax and still enjoy my time. If you’re spending time at the Preferred pool/bar, I can’t recommend Gerson enough—he’s the kind of person who turns a good trip into a great one.

Great Entertainment Team & Delicious Dining, but Resort Felt Small
We stayed at Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa for 7 days in late January as a family of adults. Overall, the resort is on the smaller side, but it still offered a good variety of food and bar options, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely updated. Dining Highlights One of the things we appreciated most was not having to make reservations for the à la carte restaurants—everything is first come, first served, which made evenings feel relaxed and flexible. The Italian restaurant served the best minestrone soup I’ve ever had. The Japanese restaurant surprised us with incredible sushi. The beachside restaurant had great lunch options and became one of our go‑to spots during the day. Areas for Improvement There were a few things that didn’t quite work for us: The resort is quite small, and the pools don’t get sun until almost lunchtime. There are no chairs around the pool with the swim‑up bar, which felt like a missed opportunity. The buffet food became repetitive over the week. The Real Stars: The Entertainment Team The entertainment team truly made our stay memorable. They brought so much energy, kindness, and fun to each day. Charlie was an absolute hoot—always smiling, dancing, and lifting everyone’s spirits. Melissa has the sweetest heart. She checked in on us regularly, kept us updated on daily events, and brought so much positivity to every activity. Jaime was the leader of fun. He encouraged us to join in, took time to chat, offered suggestions for things to do around Cancun, and genuinely cared about how we were enjoying our stay. From silent disco nights to paint sessions, pool soccer, and bracelet making, this team was fantastic. They were easily the highlight of our trip. Overall: We enjoyed our time at Dreams Sands and appreciated the friendly staff, great food options, and especially the entertainment team. That said, we’d likely choose a slightly larger resort next time and pay closer attention to sun exposure around the pools.
