Poor stay.
Arrived here for our honeymoon for a 2 week stay. Hotel never bothered with any effort when we noticed them of this (fair enough). Checked in with a not so friendly receptionist who offered us no help with our luggage to our room. Got no explanation as to where anything was in the hotel so just had to figure it out for ourselves. Arrived just after a storm (out of staffs control yes) so the room we had originally booked was unavailable to us due to damage. We were put into another room which was a health and safety hazard as the curtains in the room were mouldy and there was water dripping from the roof onto our heads when we were trying to sleep. Asked for a different room as this one was unsleepable and I had to get up several times to put towels on the floor as it was flooding. Receptionist told us there was nothing she could do until the morning and to basically get on with it. Took a shower and realised the hair dryer was broken, asked for a different one and was brought an iron instead. The lifts were broken due to the storm but some were working and when asking staff which ones worked we were told “no English”. Food very very basic, buffet breakfast & lunch was the same every single day and not all of the food was labelled so was unsure what some of the food was. Restaurant food at night time was nice but again the same thing over and over so got sick of what we liked very quickly. Mini bar was stoked up with drinks each day however different drinks on different days and upon asking for what we liked we had to wait nearly 2 hours for this. The doors stopped working in the hotel to let us into the room and we were told it was an issue throughout the hotel but someone would come and let us in. Waited 1hr and 45 outside our room after going down twice to see when this person was supposedly coming and eventually got back into our room. Got woken up a good few mornings at 6am by staff outside cutting hedges. Only good thing going for this hotel is the pool staff who were very attentive and brilliant at making sure you had what you needed. Beach beautiful and kept very clean but not enough to ever make us come back to this hotel. Do not recommend and very very disappointed.

Disappointing stay
Hurricane was not the cause of all the rooms flooding and ruining our clothes and shoes, it was the old outdated and not sealed window. Buffet food was really good, speciality restaurants were extremely disappointing. Steaks were extremely fatty and tough

Don’t come back to the place you were happy once.
Dream sands Cancun is not the same hotel I visited last year. That hotel is not ready to face a tropical storm and less a hurricane. The room during Helene was a real swimming pool. Windows are wick, leaking everywhere. It was a disgrace. Elevators stoped because of leaks. And the cleaning team are heroes working with Cleaning Loagers trying to solve the situation. They are great people. Anyway, the food is not the same like last year and the reception service is real bad. When we arrived they don’t give us the champagne toast and wet towels like the use to offer as a welcome in the past. I don’t think I come back to that hotel. I have to say again that the rest of employees are great. Waiters, barmen, I have to mention Gerardo and Tomas as bellboys and doorman, Pedro, World Cafe waiter is exceptional and very pleasant with tourists, and also Oscar. At the beach área Alejandro is a young guy very professional and super kind. Also Karen from the Coco Cafe… that girl is awesome. I told since first day about my husband birthday but nobody say anything and the following day I went to the front desk and they sent a banner and some rose petals sign on the bed… no cupcake either candle, no bottle of wine… Most of the days I had to ask for coffee capsules because they forgot to leave them in the room… Beside of service team, the hotel is not ready for any kind of weather perturbation and its installations are not the same if the past years. I won’t be back to this hotel which used to be my favorite last year.
