A little disappointed
Hotel was nice and preferred treatment was excellent. However, we asked for small face towels during our 5 day stay and didn't receive them until the 4th day (afternoon). Need a much better food selection in world Cafe, and hot water to bathe/shower
Overall Great Value and Beautiful Beach Area
Stayed 7 nights at Dreams Sands Cancun. Beach and swimming area was the best we’ve ever seen. Pools were very cold. Preferred area pool was in the shade until mid-afternoon. Janet provided awesome service at the preferred pool area with bringing drinks and food. Room: king ocean view had a nice firm bed with awesome, large pillows including two body pillows. Shower leaked water onto floor by toilet (bottom of shower door needs better sealant). Had some issues with getting bathmats and washcloths every day. A/C was great and was running constantly until we figured out how to put the fan on Auto mode. Room walls are very thin and you can hear people next door talking - bring earplugs and/or white noise phone app to drown out unwanted noises such as doors slamming and people walking with clompy shoes on the marble floors. Download the Hyatt app to see which restaurants are opened and closed for the day, and to view the daily activities such as yoga, wine tastings, Spanish lessons, shows and entertainment. Restaurants offered a good variety, we liked Himatsu (Asian) the best for dinner and Olio (Mediterranean) for lunch. Breakfast buffet has everything one needs - made to order eggs/omelet station, hot entrees, yogurt, fruit, cold cuts/smoked salmon. The gym was adequate for weightlifting and had 3 treadmills and 1 elliptical. The personal trainer Anahi was great and helped us with the machines and with training advice. Nightly shows were interesting, especially the Mexican show on Friday night. Spa: did the fish therapy as a couple and it was a very interesting experience. Overall, all hotel staff were highly professional and we had a great week of vacation. Would come back here again.
Only if its 1/2 Price
This place & Preferred Club is laughable. At 7:30 AM this morning, all chairs with umbrellas were already "reserved". I will not recommend this place to anyone - unless its 1/2 the cost of other nearby resorts. It was rated 5 Golden Apples by Apple Vacations & thats true only if its out of 10! Rooms are smaller & more outdated than any I've stayed in here in Cancun over the past year & a half. There aren't enough pool & beach chairs for everyone. Food has been OK (Some great, others terrible). Some staff are great like Henry, Edit, Ricardo, & Antonio... others really don't like their jobs. Location is perfect.
Beautiful, fun great staff and food too. It is worth the extra for the premier club. Several perks. Good variety of food and fun. Always something to do or good to just relax. I will definitely visit again
Great beach, average hotel
A good resort overall. Nice size (didn't have to walk a mile to get to the beach). The beach was incredible, crystal clear and warm water. Definitely needed more beach loungers, though. We've been to several resorts where I'd read that you had to claim your beach chairs very early but we never had a problem finding something later in the mornings. At Dreams Sands, however, different story: it was like Hunger Games. Some people would claim their loungers by 7am and then wouldn't show up until the afternoon! Not right. The food was disappointing and underwhelming, and that was the one thing I was most looking forward to! The Mexican food was good, but I still expected more - even the guacamole was bland. I felt they could have showcased Mexican cuisine more (outside of a special event night where you had to pay $150 for a table - that's not all-inclusive). The Asian restaurant was the only one that had good food. The pools were too cold and not deep enough to actually swim in, and too small. The rooms need updating and the walls are too thin - you can hear everything in neighbouring rooms. The staff are incredible and genuine! Pedro, Umberto and Cecilia at the World Cafe, and Alexis at Olio were stand-outs, but truly, everyone was so friendly and happy. They work very hard and they make the stay worthwhile.
