A solid GOOD experience
This is a gorgeous facility that is well maintained. The staff here is super-friendly - EVERY staff member we came across said hello and asked if we were enjoying our stay. The rooms were nice. Only one complaint - the HVAC was flaky - went from cool and humid, to cold and humid, to hot and humid. It did not run at all one night of our stay. This was not just us. We were traveling with 3 other couples and two of the couples struggled with their A/C as well. To give you an idea, our room had just been mopped before we checked in and 12 hours later, the floors were still wet/damp. Beds were good - pillows were small and meh. Housekeeping good and unobtrusive. SUPER good free Wi-Fi throughout the resort - 4-bars everywhere. One strange thing - the only mirrors were in the bathroom. Breakfast was absolutely amazing every single day with more options than you can imagine. Lunches were just fair, and fairly limited in selection. Dinners always looked better than they tasted. I had two soups there (potato/leek and French onion) that were outstanding. Fresh salads. The main courses ranged from fair to good (but at these prices, I was expecting a little more). Meats tended to be tough. Most things needed salt and there was none on the tables. This is a kid-friendly resort, and there were a LOT of little kids there. Secrets, next door is an adults only resort owned by the same company.

Excellent Resort, Service and facilities
I just returned from a girls’ trip a few days ago, and after staying at several resorts in Playa del Carmen, Cancun and now Playa Mujeres, I can honestly say this has become one of my favourites. The layout of the hotel is fantastic and everything feels easy to get to no matter which building your room is in. We stayed in the Preferred section, and the added amenities made such a difference. The Bali Beds, the Maris à la carte restaurant and the lounge all elevated our experience. We also did a Temazcal ritual with nine friends, which ended up being one of the most special moments of the trip. A huge thank you to Gustavo from the spa for organising it for us and making sure we were comfortable, relaxed and well taken care of. At the beach, Antonio and Jamie were amazing. They were professional, friendly and incredibly attentive. Our waiter team, including Mario, Susana and Fernando, were all wonderful, and everyone working in the Preferred beach Bali Bed area worked so hard and made us feel looked after. Ruben from Maris took care of us most mornings at breakfast along with two other lovely servers. Travelling as a group of fifteen meant the occasional hiccup was inevitable, but everything was resolved quickly and with great service. The beach itself was lovely. There was no seaweed, the water was warm and even though it wasn’t crystal clear, it was still beautiful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the food at the restaurants was very good. Sonia from the Groups team also deserves a mention, as she made sure our special event dinner was planned perfectly and checked on us throughout. If you visit, I really recommend using the hotel app. It makes everything incredibly easy and it’s especially helpful if you forget to press the “clean room” button inside the room. If you don’t mind eating a bit later in the evenings, you’ll usually find space in most restaurants and fewer children around. I also recommend bringing strong mosquito repellent if you tend to get bitten, because although the hotel provides some, many of my friends needed something stronger. Some of them ended up bitten even on their faces. If you prefer an adults-only atmosphere, staying next door at Secrets might be better, since this resort is family-friendly. We didn’t mind at all, although of course we came across a few loud children, mostly due to their parents. We also saw plenty of families with lovely, well-behaved kids. As for the restaurants, my favourites were The Grill, Fusion, Maris and the buffet, especially when it was quiet and I could sit outside. Le Etoile was fine. The hibachi show was cut short because the extractor broke and the room filled with smoke, but the food itself was excellent. It might be helpful for the hotel to check the extractors before the dinner service. We enjoyed seeing all the weddings taking place during our stay, and they all seemed so well organised that it made me think this would be a beautiful location for a future special occasion. There are always events happening around the property, so certain areas can get lively or a bit noisy, although it never bothered us. If someone prefers total quiet, it might be worth requesting a more secluded room. Overall, I absolutely loved our stay. We had perfect weather, great food, lovely service and so many fun, relaxing moments with friends. Thank you for a wonderful experience

Good Resort
The resort was beautiful and very clean. The spa was excellent and food was very good. We stayed in the preferred club with an ocean view. Our room was on a low level and the view was not even close to what we expected. The preferred club advertises the mini bar is restocked daily. Ours was only restocked on the first day out of the week we were there. On the third day I requested service and they did show up. The only things we were asking for is the water bottles and coffee pods be replaced daily. After inquiring twice we gave up.

Very disappointing
A very nice looking hotel but quite far from the airport and the constant expectation for staff tips makes the place feel like a rip off. If I'm paying £8,000 to go on holiday to an all inclusive resort for a week, I don't expect to then have to pay tips on top. I can only assume the hotel pay the staff poorly and they feel the need to make up there wages... Certain areas like slides and lazy river are also only for 'preferred club' guests which is basically another rip off to charge you more to use facilities. Rooms were clean but our 'garden view' actually overlooked a kids play pool which was constantly playing music with water features turned on despite nobody using them. This meant that we couldn't enjoy sitting out on the balcony as it was loud and unrelaxing. We attended a wedding whilst we were there and the service by the wedding planner was dire, she was rude and kicked us all out early of the room that was hired. If it had been my wedding i'd have been extremely disappointed and put a complaint in regarding her behaviour. I wouldn't return to this hotel, by far the worst 5 star all inclusive we've ever stayed in.
