Honest review!
We traveled here for the first time with a group of 3 adults and 1 infant. Overall we was satisfied with our weeklong stay here. The location was excellent- we have stayed at several playa mujeres resorts. The area is secure, relaxed, beautiful and has a long private beach. Check in was quick and easy. Our room wasn’t ready immediately but we were able to leave our bags and go explore the resort. We declined the sales pitch from the start and weren’t bothered about it again. Rooms were okay - they are showing some wear but are comfortable enough. The jacuzzi on the balcony got very warm! Housekeeping and coffee/minibar restock could have been better. We weren’t provided with towels after a cleaning and our minibar was only restocked once during the week. The housekeeping carts are often kept in the halls and dirt/hairballs frequently collect which I had to ask to be swept back up. The noise level was minimal for one room and too loud in another. That room was quickly reassigned without issue. We were provided a crib for our infant which we found adequate and our baby slept well. We really appreciated that this was available. We recommend tipping your housekeeping crew. Food- overall good for AI. The breakfast buffet was expansive with plenty of options including made to order omelets. Most days we enjoyed the pop up food at the pool and found it to be really good! Tides was also a quick and easy option poolside. We didn’t really care for that’s a wrap. Dinner was good everywhere. Nothing was a standout for me but we liked everything we tried. Room service was pretty basic but satisfactory. Gaucho was probably our favorite due to the amount of options available. We always ate when the restaurants opened at 6 and never experienced a wait. Asado, the dinner experience in the garden, was unique and tasty with live music. I would recommend this. Dolce was nice for made to order espresso drinks and ice cream. The ice cream seems to be a highlight for many kids. It’s also nice that it’s open 6a-11p. Pools- it was unseasonably cold the week we visited so we didn’t get to spend much time in the pools but it was fine to sit outside. We primarily stayed by the upper quiet pool by the mermaid bar or the grotto. Towels were plentiful and always located close by. The entertainment pool always looked like it had a good crowd and the music wasn’t too loud. The “hot tubs” are not hot- more like lukewarm but they always were full. The reviews about the very rough pool lining are accurate- it can be pretty uncomfortable. The service is good although slow some of the time. The servers had a very large section and have to cater to a ton of kids frozen drinks so it was easy to see why they got slowed down. We always tipped but I wouldn’t say you get any “better” or “faster” service from tipping. Beach- we love the beach in playa mujeres and the beach at dreams is no different. Unfortunately it was too cold/windy most days for us to sit at the beach. The sargassum is minimal and the sand is very soft. The dolphin area is right on the dreams property. Entertainment- the entertainment staff was visible, friendly and encouraged participation but was not pushy about it. There are some fun activities at/near the pool daily. We did not go to any evening shows. Bars- unless you’re preferred, the only real “bar” is the lobby bar which was not the best. The bartenders didn’t know how to make the drinks on their own menu and the rest were average at best. The pool bars were good and the bartenders can make a wide selection of typical beach drinks and basic cocktails. We thought the beer selection was good and there are multiple options for each type of liquor. Kids club/waterpark- we did not utilize these areas. There are a lot of weddings at this resort but we did not find them to negatively impact our stay. Value - the price seemed reasonable and would be perfect to travel to on points. The sweet spot appears to be for kids aged ~4 - 10. Would definitely recommend with young kids. Would probably suggest elsewhere if adults only or older kids in your party. Staff highlights- Ulises at world cafe for breakfast was the best server we had at the resort. We sat in his section daily and he knew our drink order after 2 days, kept our coffee hot and always cleared plates quickly. He interacted with our baby who really loved to smile and wave at him. Freddy the pool concierge approached us on our second day there while we were trying to find a good pool spot and suggested a couple different spots. He found us some chairs that ended up going back to daily. He always said hi to us when he saw us and made sure we were doing okay. We were grateful he showed us such a good spot! Super Mario at the mermaid pool bar is the best person at the resort! Thanks to Freddy finding us a good spot we frequented Mario’s bar. He made the best drinks, suggested new drinks that we ended up loving, always had the next one ready for us and was so fun to talk to. He even made us “special” fruit drinks! I would highly recommend finding Mario to make your stay even better!

Not the greatest.
Not the greatest. A la carte restaurants are chaotic and hard to get into since they don't do reservations. Not the cleanest. Housekeeping wasn't great. Felt unwelcome.

Family Fun!
Great location, clean, and awesome beach! Perfect for families with small children! Lots of good restaurants, not overcrowded at the restaurants or the pool. “Super” Mario at the Mermaid Bar was awesome! Strong tasty drinks! Fun atmosphere at the pool! Really nice beach. Great sand. Lots of weddings at this resort, but all seem to shut down early. Kids club was great! Crafts, face paint, hair styling! Was a hit!

Bad hotel management/bed bugs in my room!
I stayed at Dreams Playa Mujeres for one week with my family. Overall, the trip was relatively smooth, however, I have to point out the fact that the room that I stayed in had BED BUGS and Dreams customer service/management did nothing about the incident when I reported it as feedback when I came home, even when I told them I left notes to housekeeping that threw out my notes and hid valid evidence. When I explained my situation over email to them (multiple times), they refused to believe my situation and did nothing to make amends, which shows a terrible display of customer service and says a lot about this particular hotel management...not even a small discount towards a future stay, which is the most basic kind gesture. NOPE! They choose to ignore emails instead. They are getting a 1 star review because of this. I have travelled to many tropical islands and have been to MANY 5 star hotels and this lack of compassion and poor customer service has completely salted any future travel with Dreams.
