    Epic Bike Tour

This bike tour was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The ride was very easy and accessible, with about 90% of the route shaded, which made it especially comfortable. One of the highlights was meeting a baby crocodile named Poncho—an unexpected and memorable moment! Our tour leader, Jessica, was excellent: friendly, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. She shared great insights along the way and made sure everyone felt comfortable and included. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a relaxed ride with unique wildlife encounters and an outstanding guide.

    Great time

had a great time at this resort! the entertainment was so fun! Gustavo, Heily, Tony were so fun, friendly, and made the trip really memorable. the water slide and breakfast bar were some other highlights! Coming for a wedding but felt like we could enjoy the facilities and excursions as well. Added a trip to Isla Mujeres was well worth it!

Very pretty but staff is lacking customer service. I would expect much more for how much you’re spending

Most of staff was unacommadating and borderline unfriendly. We were there for a very large wedding, bringing in tons of business for them and they just couldn’t be bothered with us. The food staff was nice but most of the restaurants are mediocre aside from the breakfast buffet.

Dreams and Secrets Playa Mujeres- Great Resorts!

Loved our stay at Dreams in January 2026, family of 3. This review includes Dreams and Secrets as we stayed at Dreams but spend much of our time at Secrets since we were all adults. See below as why you should NOT travel on a national holiday to Cancun. Dreams is very family- great place if you have kids, but since our daughter is and adult we preferred to spend the day and some evening hours at Secrets. Secrets had just reopened after renovations so were getting VIP treatment due to the low number of guests. Even after many more people arrived, staff worked hard to be attentive to everyone. There were also no line-ups for anything at Secrets unlike Dreams which was much busier. There is plenty of staff at both locations to meet all of your needs. The entire Playa Mujeres resort area is not open to the public so it is very safe. ROOMS: We had a room-8139 at Dreams facing the kids small water park area which was loud during the day with the water running all day. Since we didn't spend time in our room during the day it was not an issue. It had 2 queen beds and a comfortable pull-out couch which was great. There was a light curtain divider between the couch and bed area. Beds were comfortable. Had a small fridge and nespresso coffee maker. Fridge had complimentary drinks. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion were provided. They also gave you a small bottle of bug repellent which did come in handy. They provide plenty of bottled water in the room. However, I wish they wouldn't take 1/2 used bottles, just seemed wasteful as we always kept a bottle in the bathroom for teeth brushing, There is also a magnified make-up mirror in the washroom. Shower was nice with a rainfall shower and wall shower, but it did leak a little onto the floor as I find it does at many resorts. Daily housekeeping was provided and even a turn down service which was not necessary, so I started turning on the red light (no service) in the evenings. We did not get to see the new rooms at Secrets. There are shuttles that run between the 2 resorts as some of the locations are a bit far (can walk if you want). Staff was fabulous at both resorts. Friendly and vey attentive to your needs. POOLS: There are many pools to choose from on both sides and with great views of the ocean. There are also many hot tubs in various locations. The hot tubs at Secrets were not that warm though. There were 2 adult waterslides and 2 really nice water splash area for the kids at Dreams. Plenty of towels and chairs for everyone with a variety of seating options and nicely spaced around all of the pools. BEACH: The beach is fantastic with silky sand and an ocean you can swim in. Seaweed was minimal. Plenty of chairs with beach bars and servers at the beach at both resorts. In front of Beaches in a Dolphin area where you can watch dolphins being trained and putting on shows for those that paid to go directly into the area. You can walk quite a distance in both directions if you like to walk the beach and no none harassing you to buy anything. Both resorts had nice beach volleyball courts, but at Secrets there were prickly spurs around that you had to be careful not to step on. They were trying to clean that up when we were there. They had kayaks and paddleboards available for free but you had to pay for sea-doos and banana boat rides. FOOD and DRINKS: Best food I have ever had at a resort. We ate breakfast at the buffet restaurant at both Dreams and Secrets and had plenty to choose from. There are also gluten free options and they always ask you if you have food allergies. For lunch we ate at the Seaside Grill at Secrets several times, and at the poolside meals provided on different days (seafood with lobster/shrimp, paella, tacos). There is always fruits, sandwiches, snacks, coffee and ice-cream at both resorts at the coffee shops. We ate dinner at the restaurants as there were plenty to choose from. Food and service was excellent everywhere. Some do have a dress code. They had great beverages (alcoholic an non-alcoholic). Bartenders made anything you asked for and I was happy that everyplace had Prosecco. Drinks are plenty at anytime of the day! ENTERTAINMENT/ACTIVITIES: We enjoyed the morning yoga which was offered at both resorts as well as the pool volleyball and beach volleyball. They had afternoon games like trivia and Bingo by the pool and we also really liked the finger painting where we made cute coasters and also the tequila tasting. One morning we did the bike tour which is very casual but interesting learning about ants, plants and history. We only took in 2 evening shows at Secrets and also really enjoyed the casino night at Dreams with play money. The entertainment team of Nemo, Carlitos, Francesca, Sebastian, Diego were great (may be missing a name or two) There was a variety of live music every afternoon by the pool at Secrets. I prefer not common rock music as I like the sounds of the Caribbean while on vacation. Loved the reggae band, Cuban band and saxophone player. There was also evening musicians in the lounge bars at both resorts. EXCURSION: We booked one excursion through the hotel which was a snorkeling trip on a catarmaran to Isla Mujeres. It was a beautiful Sunday but very busy, which was an issue. The boat and staff were lovely but the area was too crowded for snorkeling. We stopped half way to island to snorkel and from there it all felt very rushed and crowded. It was so crowded that you spend the 20 mins you had in the water trying to dodge elbows and fins while trying to follow our guide with the whistle. There was no time to swim around and enjoy the few types of fish we saw. You had to swim in a straight line as the boat dropped you off and you had to swim to its new location. It is not a trip I would recommend if snorkeling is an activity you enjoy. We then docked outside of the island for quick swim. The water and surroundings are beautiful. Then we got back on the boat and dropped off at the tourist trap island for a couple of hours to have lunch (which was just OK). We went for a swim on the crowded beach and then found the cutest showers in the middle of the trees (a trip highlight). We got back on the boat which took us the the downtown shopping area which is busy but fun. We took in a local restaurant for chips and salsa and live mariachi music and got back on the boat late afternoon. There was a photographer on board taking photos and I have to say they turned out great- nice job photo editing, but you had to buy those. HOSPITALITY ROOM: Since our return flight wasn't leaving until 11 pm, we could spend the day at the resort and they provided a room with large lockers and showers to use after our day at resort. It had shower amenities and towels and plenty of space to repack our suitcases for the flight. The locks were not working as they should, so we had to call someone to open the lockers for us but they were happy to help and even took our luggage to the lobby for us while we grabbed a quick bite to eat before we left. WHY NOT TO TRAVEL ON A NATIONAL HOLIDAY: We travelled on Jan. 1 which we learned is not a great idea as our Westjet flight had no crew, so they had to call in staff making our flight 2 hours very late evening. That resulted in having to wait 2 hours at the Cancun airport for our luggage since there was little staff to take the luggage off the plane. There wasn't really anyone at the airport to talk to about it since we arrived so late. Because of the holiday and time, there were few shuttles running and so waiting time was longer then normal and somewhat unorganized. We arrived at our hotel around 2:30 am.
