WILL GO BACK! Love Dreams Onyx

Location was gorgeous! Service and hospitality was exceptional. Huge shoutout to Rafael, our personal Butler at Dreams Onyx. It was late night, my 4 yr old son wanted chocolate milk but didn’t want to leave the room, our guy Rafael hooked us up and had it delivered pronto! Our family had also booked a Cabana beside the beach and Inoel was our server. He was always coming around to make sure we had all the drinks, food and towels we needed to make the best experience of our day between the pools and beach. We had a large group and these two, among many other amazing workers at the resort did amazing in ensuring our stay was exceptional. Denys was the sweetest Maid and she’d come to the room every afternoon while we explored the scenery and activities at the resort, and she’d clean the room thoroughly. It was like walking into another slice of paradise every time. I had a 4 yr old toddler with me on this trip and he enjoyed the resort very much (10/10 kid friendly). Plenty of activities and events for the kids to partake in. Kids Club had an awesome pool area, a ball pit, trampolines, slides. Food, drinks, I didn’t have enough time in a week to experience everything the resort has to offer.

    Amazing family vacation

Our private butler Rafael made this vacation one to remember. Traveling with 2 kids under 3 years old is never easy but Rafael certainly made it smooth as can be. He booked us dinners every night. We had a group of over 18 and never had an issue getting seats to accommodate all of us. He checked in frequently to make sure we were happy and that we definitely were. He got us a private cabana for the week and our server Inoel was so attentive and friendly. Made us feel like we were family. Rafael and Inoel made this trip something we will never forget. We will be back!

Beautiful pools, poor food, ok service

Expected too much from reading reviews about this resort but found the service, food and nightly entertainment to be such a disappointment. We were told by the butler upon arrival that only the Hibachi needed a dinner reservation (which he made) and the other restaurants we needed to go at 5:30 to accommodate our large party. I think if you rent a cabana or private area, you will get more attention from the butler throughout the week. We were a preferred club member but never was approached by the butler during our stay, as suggested in the reviews. Although we reserved 3 rooms on 1 booking, our rooms were spread out throughout the resort. The resort itself is really nice with several beautiful pool areas, especially the preferred club member adult pool. The preferred member beach area has nicer upgraded towels. We went in January and had No seaweed on the beach. Suggestions: Get the Preferred Club member room so you can go anywhere on the property, including using the best adult pool and nice beach area that has ample lounge chairs. Eat breakfast and lunch in the air conditioned mexican restaurant where you can go to the buffet or order from a menu. The best dinner was surprisingly at the Mediterranean restaurant. Pros: great maid service, good size resort, rooms were nice with sodas, beers, waters, candy. Even had a nightlight in the bathroom. Cons: Extremely long check in process for Preferred Club members where they try to sign you up for a timeshare type meeting. After a days travel, they drove us to a preferred lounge area where it took 30-45 minutes to get our key so we could go to our room. No top shelf such as Titos, Woodford, Makers Mark etc. Drink servers are never around when you need a drink so you go to the bar, where you're ignored until you feel uncomfortable. Most of the staff aren't friendly and sadly seemed unhappy. Its hard to find a good meal. Even the hibachi restaurant wasn't as good as any hibachi I've ever been to, where they service tiny bites of meat and tasteless shrimp. The 9pm entertainment was such a disappointment. Only enjoyed the fire show. We've been to several resorts and the entertainment was by far the worst here. We went to Dreams Sapphire in Cancun in December where the staff were friendly, happy and always around asking if we needed a drink -that's the type of service we expected and didn't get at Dreams Onyx.

    Relaxing, hot, comfortable, and refreshing

We had a great experience at the hotel our butler concierge. Albert was fantastic. They could not do enough for you. The food was great. The restaurants were five star service loads of variety and the weather was great. Nelis at the adults only pool her service was five stars. She remembers your drinks and is very swift in getting them. Makes it a whole lot better experience.

    Very happy with this resort!

Just returned from our first trip to Dreams Onyx; this was my wife and my first time to Punta Cana or any all-inclusive resort. We were there with 11 other friends (no children), for 5 nights. First, choosing the “preferred” package was key; the preferred pools, beach, bars and lounges, and especially the added access to the adjacent adult only resort Breathless was well worth the additional expense. Also, our personal concierge, Leonardo, was very helpful and responsive to everyone in our group! I would rate our individual room, and the pools and beaches all 10/10. After reading other reviews before going, I think I had realistic expectations for the quality of the food. I wasn’t expecting Michelin-starred restaurants. The variety, quantity, and availability were terrific, but some items were certainly better than others; all things considered, I’d probably give the food an 8/10 overall. Our favorite was the Japanese Hibachi. The alcoholic drinks were very good, particularly at the preferred bars where the brands were of a higher quality (but not “top shelf”). All of the liquor drinks seemed weak however, compared to drinks you’d expect at a typical drinking establishment stateside (the champagne was 7% alcohol, for instance); our group generally felt this was probably a good thing, considering the quantity of drinks we consumed. Finally, the property was very well maintained and clean, and every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful and seemed to enjoy their work. My wife and I would definitely consider visiting this resort again in the future!
