    Great Time

Entertainment crew Princess Diana & Diamond went beyond...they made us feel like family. Always have great conversations. Yocaima at Preferred Restaurant. Excellent service, very friendly. She did something special at lunchtime for my 70th birthday. Everytime we ate there we would ask for Yocaima . The young lady at the Preferred Adult pool was very helpful & friendly, didn't get her name. Our rooms were perfect, we had the swimup. The only complaint about our swimup was we had a view of construction site where they building another hotel. They should have let us know & gave us options where we wanted our rooms to be at & the beach was too rough to get in. We did have butler but we hardly seen him. If we had any problems or questions, we just WhatsApp him. Overall it's a great resort..

That's What Dreams Are Made Of

Just back from 2 weeks at Dreams Macao, travelling as a party of 3 from the UK (Myself, Wife and 19 year old Son). We’ve been visiting DR since the late 90’s along with many other AI resorts around the world. Last summer we visited Hilton La Romana in Bayahibe in order to avoid any potential issues with Sargassum, and we chose Dreams Macao this year for the exact same reason. We were so glad we did bearing in mind the last couple of months have been the worst on record in Punta Cana for seaweed. For the 14 days we were at Dreams, we saw very little, although the sea was often discoloured in patches. A bit of a shame, but its nature and nothing the hotel can do about that! Overall, I think we preferred Macao Beach over Bayahibe beach due to the constant waves. My son and I love body surfing and occasionally took out the hotel’s free bogie boards. Tip – if you find the waves in front of the resort a bit “tame” head left a few hundred metres where they are generally a bit bigger. However, you should be a confident swimmer and used to swimming in this kind of environment as the life guards do not cover this section of the beach. Of course, if you prefer whiter beaches and turquoise seas then Bayahibe is your better bet. That said, if you want the very best oceans/beaches head to Zanzibar or the Maldives which really cannot be beaten. The hotel’s waterpark is good, but I would say not quite as good Hilton La Romana or Royalton Splash. The Lazy River could do with a water features (fountains etc) and there are no slides that will take tubes. That said we spent an hour or so here every day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Most of the life guards are professional and good fun, but I did have a bad experience on my 2nd day when I was told that the covered slide was clear, when it wasn’t. This led me crashing into in to a guy going much slower causing injury too us both. If this had been a child, I dread to think what would have happened. Moto… don’t trust the lifeguards when they say “Go”. Check the slide is clear yourself before setting off! We ate at the Taco Truck one lunchtime but to be honest we were very disappointed (absolutely freezing cold fries) so we didn’t bother again. Instead, we took lunch at the buffet most days. If you eat here try the freshly cooked burgers… amazing! All the a-la-carte restaurants were excellent. In order of preference, I would say French – Asian - Italian – Mexican – Steakhouse. Although my wife and son don’t completely agree with that order, we all agreed we didn’t have a bad evening meal across the whole 2 weeks. We also absolutely loved the coffee shop. The staff were always so friendly and the range of different coffees, Frappes, Milk Shakes and Ice Creams was superb. Try the Caramel Crunch as either an ice cream of milk shake. You will not be disappointed. We are very much beach people so that’s where we spent most of our days when not at the water park or eating LOL. For drinks we were very well looked after by Nixon and Narquin at the beach bar who both very quickly worked out our preferred drinks that were always served with a smile and a joke. These guys were so friendly, hardworking and an absolute credit to the resort. One of the reasons we are beach people is we really don’t feel the need to be ‘entertained’ during our holiday… we are more than capable of doing that ourselves, without the need for ‘Butlins’ style games which generally take place around the pool. However, at times the Entertainment Staff were a little too pushy, coming down to the beach trying to get us to take part in things we really didn’t want to do. In most AI resorts the unwritten rule is Main Pool = Up For Games. Beach = Not Up For Games. I think some staff need to recognise that. Also, one of the female entertainment team (not Diana by the way who was lovely) kept calling my son a rather derogatory name based on his physical appearance. This really started to get annoying after a while. I don’t think she meant any harm, but how about asking and learning his actual name instead? Some better training needed here I think. Finally, regarding the entertainment team, it became very obvious during our stay that one male member of staff (W.....) was taking an overly keen interest in a number of younger female guests which I think crosses a clear guest/staff line. However, I have heard that this individual has now been fired, so credit to hotel management for taking decisive action on a very important safety issue. On the “Preferred / No Preferred” debate we didn’t bother upgrading and at no point did we feel we were missing out. Plus, the $1,200 we saved will cover the cost of a nice European City Break in a few months’ time… no brainer! Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at Dreams Macao (solid 4.5 stars) and are currently already taking about visiting the new ‘Secrets’ adults only resort under construction next door (not too much building noise right now but I get the impression it could get worse over the next 6-12 months)

There's better options for the price

Resort is good for relaxing however I wouldn't recommend the food at all. My room's AC was not adequate for a temperature of 104 degrees Farenheit. I was sweating and called for it to be checked, the maintenance person said it was OK. The beach is nice, clean and good for swimming for adults. I don't recommend the beach for children. The spa (not included) was fabulous, I recommend it 100%.

Good time was had by everyone!!

I had a lovely time with family at Dreams Macau. The 2 dancers at the entrance were a beautiful welcome. Summer & Kenny are very professional & friendly. I even had a little dance with them. The entire staff was very polite. They made you feel at home. From the rooms, the spa, the food & drinks, and their great service. I will definitely recommend this resort. 👌
