Stop scrolling and book
I have been to DR 15+ times, mostly to Punta Cana, as a couple and with our daughters (now 9 and 5). I never previously took the time to write a review. Dreams Macao is without question the best resort that we have visited. We opted for the preferred package with a swim out room. The room in Building 3 was perfect; close enough to everything, yet felt private. The room pool was relaxing for a pre-breakfast dip and a late afternoon swim before dinner. The preferred lobby was efficient and welcoming, with premium drinks and snacks. Santa checked us in with a smile. Our butler, Miguel, was helpful and snagged us reservations at a prime table in the teppanyaki restaurant. The beach is excellent. I suggest swimming directly in front of the lifeguard station, because there are some hidden rocks in other areas of the beach. Walking the beach felt safe. The girls loved the lazy river, and we spent much of our time floating on the tubes and riding the slides. The World Cafe (main buffet) never felt crowded (unlike many other resorts). Ruth provided excellent service with a warm smile for lunch. Katty and Orfanny provided warm service and cold drinks in the preferred lounge. The seafood restaurant (reserved for preferred members) provided our best dinner meal. It is also an option for a la carte breakfast and lunch for preferred guests. The Italian restaurant was a close second. When visiting the steak house, go for the filet or NY strip. Pass on the ribeye. The Coco Cafe kept us well caffeinated, while the girls enjoyed the ice cream and shakes. The hotel did not require any bracelets, just providing your room number for seamless service. When the girls were up to staying out, we caught the rock show and the circus, which they enjoyed. The main lobby bar also provided excellent service. While we definitely enjoyed the preferred perks, it appeared that all guests were treated in a dignified manner. There are brunch, lunch, and afternoon snacks options close to all of the pools, as well as bars everywhere. For divers, there is a Seapro hut on the beach. I dove two days. Be prepared for a 30-45 minute drive to the diving locations. See Rocky Balboa at the dive shop if you are a diver, and be sure to negotiate the dive price. The adults only preferred pool is relaxing and upscale. There were a few weddings, which did not interfere with our stay, and the beach reception seemed plenty fun. In summary, the experience was simply seamless, clean, comfortable, enjoyable, and professional. We have never visited the same resort twice, mainly because we enjoy trying new experiences. We would definitely return to Dreams Macao. When scrolling through the dozens and dozens of options in Punta Cana, just book Dream Macao. I cannot imagine that you would be disappointed.

Exceptional Service with a Smile
Fabulous resort with exceptional service. All staff are friendly and greet you. Most staff speak English well. Food is exceptional in all restaurants. Best food we have ever had in a buffet and we've been to Dominican Republic over 25 times. Shout out to Moises, the pool attendant, who gave us great service everyday. Johanie, our butler, checked with us daily for any needs we had. Princess Diana and Diamond of the entertainment team checked with us everyday and put a smile on our faces. Great massage at the spa by Alejandrina and Teodora. Cannot wait to go back!

You won’t want to leave
One of the best all inclusives I’ve ever been to. The staff are incredible (Moises and Rossy in particular were superb). I’d definitely recommend upgrading to preferred club, especially if you’re travelling as a couple.

Comfortable, Spotless and Excellent Service
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ TripAdvisor Review — Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana We’re an older couple traveling without children, and we come to all-inclusive resorts for one thing: quiet relaxation. We spend our days reading in the privacy of a swim-out pool, so our review focuses on the room, food, service, and overall atmosphere—not entertainment, nightlife, or the beach. We stayed in a Preferred Master Swim-Out Suite, and it was excellent. The room was large, spotless, very comfortable, and—importantly for a swim-out—there was no musty smell at all. The private pool was exactly that: private and perfect for reading. The only downside was the room’s location right beside the main pools, which meant loud party music on a constant loop every afternoon. That said, the room’s soundproofing was very good, and even with the music outside, our afternoon naps were never interrupted. Food and drinks were fine, and the presentation was consistently very good. • The Japanese restaurant was easily our favourite. • The French restaurant was also very good. • The only real miss was the Italian restaurant, where both the food quality and the very noisy atmosphere were disappointing. The night we visited, the staff seemed to be dealing with some sort of internal issue, which added to the chaos. When we decided to leave and go to the buffet instead, the maître d’ chased us down and tried to convince us to return, which felt a bit odd. Service throughout the resort was excellent. Staff were friendly, warm, and attentive. The butler service was the best we’ve experienced anywhere—helpful without hovering, which we appreciated as low-maintenance guests. A few mosquitos here and there, but nothing unusual for the tropics and never a real issue. The only real negative was the aggressive timeshare pitch at check-in. We were met at arrivals by and taken to the Preferred Lounge by a staff member who appeared to be part of the check-in team. He took our passports and had us sign multiple forms to receive “vouchers,” which turned out to be a timeshare presentation setup. We were tired after traveling and didn’t catch on right away. I had to be quite direct to stop the pitch, and get us checked in. I’ve said this before in my reviews, and it applies here as well: I don’t understand the marketing strategy behind the paid wine lists. The prices are extremely high for the bottles on offer, far beyond what makes sense even with typical resort markups. The house wine is fine but nothing special for anyone who enjoys wine. The markup on the paid list is enormous, to the point of being completely out of step with the wine’s actual value. Overall we had an excellent stay: great specialty dining (especially Japanese), superb butler service, a quiet and comfortable room, and the private, relaxing environment we look for.

If you want excellence this is the place to be! Dreams Macao
Located on its own beach and just 30-40 minutes from the airport. Classy, dressy, fun, relaxed and casual atmospheres all around. Our room was the Preferred King Junior suite with partial ocean and partial tropical view. While we did look out over the new Secrets construction site when our balcony door was closed we couldn't hear a peep and you certainly were unaware of any construction from the resort side. I can't get over the price for all that was offered to us, absolute bargain. We did an Air Transat package through our amazing travel agent! The resort was so clean, never saw any garbage around and our room itself was so well looked after. (LOVE the little room service cubby for receiving food and then tucking away the dishes). Do everything or do nothing! All day / all night activities available as well as plenty of places to just chill and enjoy. We did the preferred package, highly recommend asking for Francisco as your butler. The staff were so welcoming and the entertainment crew (especially Diana and Daimon), where they got all of their energy is beyond me! Can't wait for February 2026 to go back. This time we will get a swim out suite. Food was great, white linens, sparkling cutlery and glassware. Awesome place for kids, LOTS to do for them on the resort - just watch for the highly active water at the beach. Ray and Jayne
