    It was alright.

It was alright. The beach was clean, there was no seaweed on the shore. The rooms were cleanish. We had three preferred rooms and none of them were the same. Our mini fridge was depleted upon check in and we even found a half drank water bottle. My sisters room never had fruit in it unlike the rest of us. We only had night turn down service twice the five nights we stayed. We were a large group so we needed to get to the restaurants early to have dinner in a timely manner.

Don’t waste your time and money.

The food was consistently served cold, except when ordering directly from the grill. On our last day, I saw roaches crawling on the bread display. When I reported both issues to the servers, they simply smiled and walked away. It's unclear whether this was due to a language barrier. While I understand that Spanish is the primary language, working in the tourism industry should require a basic level of bilingual communication. Unfortunately, that did not seem to be the case with many of the staff we interacted with. On a positive note, our room attendant was excellent.

    Hits and misses…

Honest Canadian review. Family of 4 with kids 7 and 10 yo. Amongst others, we’ve done 3 other AM resorts before (secrets, dreams, zoetry) and have loved them all. So we wanted try this Dreams Macao for our first time in DR with the kids. We were there mid-May 2025. We had preferred club and feel it was worth it for access to restaurants and the club bar. To summarize my review, depends what you are looking for and your needs and preferences. This was a busy feeling resort with lots to do, large grounds, many weddings, lots of energy. We tried it out but realized we prefer a more low key, smaller, relaxing environment. Hits and misses and inconsistencies were the theme of the week: -water slides were really fun, we all enjoyed. That was a highlight, especially for the kids! But far from the beach. -beautiful beach, clear water (a little seaweed after rains/storms). Lots of waves though, which are fun to splash in, but not calm water, so beware with little kids. -lifeguards and beach and pool and slides were great, seemed very alert and friendly. -food was pretty good, although we’ve had better food at other resorts (outside of this chain). So depends what you compare to. -none of us got GI issues (yay!) which I was nervous about. We never used the tap water to brush teeth, only used and drank bottled water and drank water at the restaurants. -restaurants sanitize everyone’s hands on the way in -the resort is well kept and clean -nightly shows and daily entertainment team were great! « Frontline » staff of the resort were all amazing. -ladies at the spa were lovely! - kids club was great, ladies were great! -front line service staff at restaurant very nice, but quality of service inconsistent. - coco cafe has good coffee and kids enjoyed the smoothies and some snacks, but ice cream is awful (kids liked it though). Taste and texture are fake. -quality of drinks inconsistent, different alcohols at different bars. You need to study what you like and go for it and be very specific what you want and how to make it. - restaurant service management seems complicated, which makes service a little messy sometimes, with 3-4 people coming to your table, making communication difficult and confusing. - got a letter in our room saying they had to come in to fumigate our room which we declined. That was odd as we were still guests for another 3 days. - had a leak coming through our pot light and AC vent after a big storm. They played it down and we had to ask for another room which we eventually got but no compensation for the inconvenience and slightly lesser room. - the staff (who are nice) pressure for good reviews, so beware of the high rating. There is more but this is long enough! In conclusion, perhaps we were unlucky in certain aspects, it was an ok resort but we would not go back and left quite disappointed.

    Great Resort

Great resort. Staff was very attentive. Beach was gorgeous and no seaweed in water or on the beach. Entertainment at the pool and in the evening was outstanding. The entertainment staff were all very talented.
