    Good times.

I had a blast but it was my first all inclusive. The staff made it amazing. I really liked a couple of the restaurants. It was my first all inclusive and Im easy but I couldn't imagine a much better experience.

    Phenomenal Hotel

The hotel itself is exceptionally well maintained, spotless at all times, with absolutely no signs of cockroaches, bugs, or any other pests. Naturally, there are lizards, moths, and butterflies around the grounds, which actually added to the charm of the environment. In terms of overall cleanliness, this is genuinely one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. The evening entertainment was consistently impressive. The acrobatic and gymnastics-style performances in particular were outstanding and genuinely exceeded my expectations. The only drawback was the music played around the pool from about 10 a.m. It was loud, high-energy party music, which felt out of place so early in the day when most guests were still waking up or trying to relax. A more considerate approach to the morning atmosphere would make a noticeable difference. The food at the hotel was superb, easily among the best I’ve experienced abroad. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and, importantly, felt safe to eat. I often struggle with food sensitivity in other countries, but this was not an issue here beyond the usual adjustments when travelling. The staff were outstanding throughout our stay. They were consistently helpful, friendly, and attentive. I was unexpectedly taken to hospital during the trip, and the hotel contacted me directly to check on my wellbeing and offered additional support when I returned. Their care and responsiveness were genuinely appreciated. The only negative aspect of the trip, which was unrelated to the hotel itself, involved the TUI representatives and the Bavaro hospital.

    Domingo, our Butler crushed it

Amazing grounds and amenities. Get the arcade and zip line package. It is worth it. Our butler, Domingo, handled everything flawlessly for us.

DR is great… this resort, not so much

Dominican Republic is always a great place to vacation, but there are way better resorts than this one, especially for the price. My mom, sister (24) and I (25) vacation to DR each year and this was by far our least favorite resort we’ve been to. Beautiful beach and great staff but would not return or recommend. Check In: - We booked as preferred guests & do not recommend it. The preferred lounge was very crowded & loud upon arrival (Saturday, 11/15, 6pm). No welcome drink or greeting. We sat at a table for 10+ minutes before being approached by a UVC sales person trying to sign us up for a timeshare presentation. They were offering 1 free massage for a 90-minute breakfast/ tour presentation. -Another staff member finally came to help us and we were taken to our room by our butler, Euregy. When we got to our room, the key cards didn’t work. Our butler used his master key to get in and then left us with the keys that didn’t work….. We had to go down the preferred lounge to get them exchanged. The automatic door at the lounge doesn’t work either so we couldn’t get in nor out…. The ladies had to manually pull it open and close. The Room: -Preferred Ocean View Suite (2 Queens). We were in room 1310 and our view was of the construction. The noise didn’t bother us too much but I don’t think they should be allowed to market the room as “Ocean View.” -Fridge was stocked upon arrival with only Presidente and Coke. We asked for water and Diet Coke and received both. -The room did have a damp smell but they left incense to burn. -Overall clean. Received turn down service a few days of the trip. Would be nice for it to be a consistent service. There is also Bluetooth speakers in the ceiling that you can connect your phone to and play music, which was fun The Pool/ Entertainment: -Entertainment team is awesome!!! Huge shout out to Victor OG, Cappuccino, Lucy, Haiti, LeBron and DJ Carlos for bringing the fun all week long! The staff is THE only reason this resort received any rating points from us. They work so incredibly long & hard to make sure everyone is having a great time. Yoga, Zumba and Sip & Paint were our favorite activities. -The shows were pretty good too. They start around 9:15pm and lasted 30-40 minutes. The Queen Tribute band and Circus show were by far the best. -Not much to do in between “dinner time” and the show. They had a saxophone player and he was very talented but you can only sit and listen for so long… especially being a family oriented resort, they should have more to do. -There were vendors set up a few days/nights selling jewelry, art and cigars. They were pretty aggressive and we didn’t appreciate them being EVERYWHERE. Literally could not get around them and they would follow you trying to put jewelry on you (yes, even by the pool). -Main Pool always has something going on and we enjoyed the culinary events. We honestly didn’t use the preferred pools because they were much smaller and had less events going on but would be perfect for people wanting peace and quiet. Lazy River is short but enjoyable & slides were fun. Not too crowded anywhere because there are a lot of pool options to choose from. -You have to sign a waiver for EVERYTHING! So, if you participate in 15 events over the course of your stay (yoga, soccer, volleyball, etc.) you have to sign a waiver each time. It got so annoying, especially when you’re dripping wet in the pool and they hand you a pen & paper to sign. -My biggest recommendation is making every guest sign a general waiver during check in to avoid this. There were people signing for other people’s children, which seems counterproductive. -Speaking of children, this resort is mainly families and wedding parties. We felt very out of place as a small group of younger women. -There was 1-2 weddings each day we were there and there was 1 wedding party with 150 guests! Pool areas & dining were crowded those days, keep that in mind. Beach: -Beautiful, but dangerous. Red flag the entire week and there were a few individuals who had to rescued by life guards. -Plenty of seating though. It was nice to lounge around. Preferred section is far from the water so never sat in it and barely saw people in there. Food & Dining: -This is where it goes downhill. Food safety is nonexistent here. Myself, along with many others I spoke to, experienced food intolerance and/or food poisoning. -Unfortunately, cross contamination and food temperature played a huge part in this. We avoided the buffet for this reason. -Literally everything we ate was cold, even from the restaurants. I became sick after eating chicken fajitas at the Mexican restaurant on night 1 and then again after eating a chicken dish from room service. As a result, I was unable to eat the last 2.5 days of our trip. I made staff aware I was unwell and they served me tonic water with salt and lime, which helped none but I appreciated the thought. -Food sickness was a conversation starter at the pool… Hardly anyone was drinking anything except water, liquid IV & apple juice, and people were having to sit closer to the bathroom (3 stalls between all pool areas btw). -We saw a kid, probably 13-15 years old, be wheeled out on a wheelchair because he was experiencing food poisoning -The restaurants close on random days and the Hyatt app is inaccurate when it comes to what is open/closed on any given day. Wedding parties are also hosted in the restaurants so they’re closed for that too. -We asked our butler make reservations for the Japanese restaurant and when we arrived the receptionist had a different time listed than what we had in a message from our butler. They couldn’t accommodate the earlier time and when we returned at the actual time , we still couldn’t get in. We had to wait an average of 30 mins each night just to get in. We felt bad for the staff because it was constant chaos and slow service with screaming children watching iPad shows everywhere you turned. -The only good thing in this category is the Coco Café. Really great drinks & ice cream. -Shoutout to Marian , Farieloa, Carolina, Daniella , Kendrick Stephanie for always serving up the best treats and smiles! Check Out: -The guy at the Preferred lounge asked how our experience with our butler was. Unless we saw him in passing, we didn’t see him. He texted us the schedule each day, which is also available on the Hyatt app for those who don’t upgrade. They didn’t like this answer and called our butler down to speak with us. He said he was “disappointed to hear about this because he texted us every day.” We tried to have a conversation with him and reassure him we weren’t upset, to which he responded “have a nice flight” and walked away. Highly uncalled for and disappointing. We did not receive this level of unprofessionalism as “Preferred” guests at Secrets Royal Beach in Bávaro, nor any other resort we’ve stayed at. NO GUEST should be treated with dismissive behavior. Overall, there are major inconsistencies with this resort- welcome drinks, check in, room set up, butler attention, dining, turn down service, etc. Your experience is bound to be drastically different than your neighbors. *We tipped well too.* Like I mentioned before, the only reason we remotely had a good experience was the staff! They deserve ALL the credit!

    Family getaway with younger kids

Overall a good experience with two younger children (6 and 8 yo). Swim up pool preferred suite - great option. Pool was literally on our back porch (vs other resorts we have stayed in that claimed to have a swim up suite and the pool was 20+ feet away) and was a great option to use before the other pools open. I know there is construction next door, which was a bit concerning when I booked, but we did not hear any of it from our room. Kids loved the water slides, lazy river, and food. We did not take advantage of the kids club - we stayed busy enough with other activities. The kids also loved the arcade area and the zip line! I also enjoyed the arcade area! We enjoyed the location of the resort - secluded and an easy walk to the beach…and down the beach to an area with calmer water/waves. Sargassum was pretty thick on the beach but there was less of it as you walked down towards the calmer water. Not a deal breaker. Resort was clean and had a great crowd of people - never felt too crowded and there was never really a wait for anything. Drinks were good, food was ok (better than other all-inclusive we have been too but not great). A few complaints - I did not like the vendors trying to force us to buy things repetitively (necklaces, jewelry). Also, did not like the misleading push of the Hyatt Unlimited Vacation Club. Be wary - we spent over 4 hours of our time with this situation. Even with the complaints above (and now knowing how to handle these situations better/next time), we would absolutely stay here again (as a family or a couple).
