    Good and the Bad

The Good and importantly the resort grounds are well kept and the beach is fantastic although the sea can be intimidating but we all swam in the sea in front of the lifeguards area. The life guard was brilliant as he patched up a gash on my leg twice. The staff in every area are fantastic particularly all staff in the seafood grill where we had breakfast every day and the preferred beach area where Francesca and Willy Wonka served us continuously throughout the day they particularly Francesca are as good as we have had anywhere. The BAD on arrival the preferred check in was chaotic and long winded. We were a family of nine and had booked 4 rooms for three generations in the preferred area. On arrival we walked into the reception and lost three of our party who we found out were whisked away to the preferred lounge. No one told us on entry to the reception that we should take the cart to the preferred lounge for check in. Once at the lounge which was chaotic and not comfortable at all and appeared small and not fit for purpose for its usage and footfall at certain times. The bar is small and not overly friendly or appealing also there are nibbles to have meaning food plates and glasses are laying around on tables which is not a good early impression. It took ages to get to our rooms which were opposite the children’s area a long way from the beach and pool area. This was not what we had booked especially as us grandparents are mid seventies. You have to question why room allocations would think it is the right area for us especially as we had booked sea view room in the preferred area. On complaining we were told no rooms available and it took 48 hours to eventually get a room change and for a holiday of 7 days that is enough to set your impressions as you do not fly a long distance to spend time complaining it is very negative. It was actually a burst water pipe in the bathroom in one of our rooms which flooded the area that seemed to trigger our relocation as suddenly four rooms were available. Overall the word preferred was not the experience you would expect although you do get limited perks to include premium drinks brands but found premium beers were not readily available with Presidente local beer always the fall back. The GOOD the main reception and concierge were completely different to the preferred lounge very helpful and approachable. Jorelis Linares the guest relations manager was brilliant and it was her that responded to all our complaints and went out of her way to address our issues resolve them and maintained contact to see we were happy with the outcomes. Jorelis also booked us a private meal for 9 of us as a gesture for the issues we had and this was brilliant with great service from all and an appearance from the Chef at the end. The reception on another occasion also promptly ordered my daughter a prescription for antibiotics which was much appreciated. The BAD we complained to TUI representative about room situation and who allegedly typed a report of our complaints for TUI saying we would receive a copy for which to date no sign of. The TUI rep then went AWOL and did not attend at stated times just not good enough the rep is supposedly to help guests. Booked buggy excursion through TUI rep and was told to be in reception for 8:00 am and had to phone via reception to chase up as no show transportation. Reception said 8:00 am was to early anyway due to start time of tour, transport eventually turned up at 9:00 am and an hour wasted. Also booked golf via TUI rep and told to be at reception 5 minutes before 1:00 pm. Chased up at 1:10 via reception to TUI and still no show of transport at 2:10 pm so aborted golf. Experience of TUI when you needed them not good especially after an outward flight with no ear pieces for in flight entertainment. GOOD all restaurants were good and no complaints there and Johanny our butler took care of us by booking restaurants throughout the week. Johanny was a good butler and much appreciated but felt he was not supported very well with the room allocations and this reflects on the hotel management team. Room cleaning was good but each of our rooms had differing preferred perks with no consistency some having robes others not with no wine in some and missing turn down service in others. We had a great family holiday together but on reflection would not return due to multiple issues we have had much better.

    Not my Dream!

The resort, pools, and beach were gorgeous and clean. Lots of seating at the pools and the beach. The food was delicious. However, we had so many inconveniences during the week that I would not go back. Locked out of our room 3x in 2 days because of key resets. Leak in the bathroom ceiling where water came down through a light fixture - was supposedly fixed - and then leaked worse the following evening. Lights in room randomly came on and off. The Amstar rep working at the hotel was not honest when answering my questions about excursions. We would have to contact the front desk several times before our issues were addressed. Our room was located next to construction where the resort is adding an adults only area. The workers started at 7:30 am and continued until 10:00-11:00 pm. Not very peaceful sitting on our balcony.

Nice resort - if you are looking just to use the pools

This resort is very nice, clean and the staff are great. The draw back for this resort, and it was a big one for us, is the beach. Unless you are there for surfing, it is not safe to swim. The waves are very big and dangerous, so it made our visit a let down. We go to enjoy the beach and we were not able to. Take the reviews on this resort and the beach seriously, the waves really are that big and dangerous. Part of the beach needs a breakwater so there is access to swim. This resort, which is a family resort, has so, so, so many small kids, many more than we have experienced at all inclusive family resorts before. Therefore, be aware, there a small kids everywhere at all times of the day and night. The staff were great, very helpful and lots of them. If you go to use the pools and water park and have small kids, I would recommend the resort.

GREAT PLACE FOR A FUN AND RELAXING VACATION

I just came back from a week at this resort and all I can say is WOW! Everything was amazing. Check in was easy. The resort is absolutely stunning and the staff is even more amazing. The staff really makes this place stand out. They are all engaging and friendly. The beach is beautiful and there are plenty of chairs (shaded and not) to use. The water is rough so if you're an ocean swimmer this may not be the place for you. Pool loungers were reserved by people early but we managed to always find a couple of chairs to use and I did notice staff moving towels on chairs that hadn't been used. The food was great at the buffet with so many choices for adults and children. We traveled as a couple but there are many activities to keep the kids busy all day. The evening shows were very entertaining and the entertainment crew go above and beyond to keep the vibe going. After the show, the party continues with entertainment in the lobby bar and again the staff dances and engages with guests for a great time. If you still want to keep the party going, there is a club that's open until 2:00 am. I wish I could remember all of the amazing workers at this resort to mention them by name but Jorge at the bar was definitely a stand out. Even the security personnel were engaging. I would highly recommend Dreams Macao Beach and plan to come back again.

Beautiful resort with the great staff!!

Dreams Macao beach is a beautiful resort on one of the prettiest beaches I have been to. The beach is rough compared to Bavaro beach so if you like going in the water, try walking about 1/2 mile to the right and it is a beautiful place to swim. Otherwise it was too rough for us, the red flag is out a lot. We went preferred so were able to have sit down breakfast and lunch instead of going to the buffet which looked great but we like the sit down. Preferred also had a special section on the beach that had its own bar and they would bring lunch to you. Cocktail shrimp, burgers, burritos, delicious. The pools were nice, the preferred pool also served drinks and food and we were well taken care of by J Ventura, great sense of humor! The shows at night were outside if it didn't rain and were entertaining. The room was clean and very nice, the bed was so comfortable. The staff is great, always willing to help and smiling. They should all be commended but I will recognize some that we met: Dargeny was out butler, always available but not pushy at all and great, anything we asked he was on it! Seafood restaurant was very good and we met Mirelys who was excellent. At the breakfast restaurant Yocaima was wonderful and the omelets were great. The steak restaurant was not our favorite but Roberto did a great job serving us. At lunch we ate at the sit-down restaurant if not on the beach and the meals were all excellent as was Jonny who was one of our waiters and the happiest of all was Telamin who you could tell he was around WOO HOO :) Others that served breakfast or lunch were Ellinghorn and Yokaima who were both excellent. At the preferred beach Look for Willy Wonka for lunch on the beach and Francesca who serves drinks, both so kind. Lastly the French restaurant we enjoyed, try the duck! We were wiatned on by Jessica and Christian also very good! We loved the Asian restaurant and had Javier as our waiter who was great. Overall we liked this resort the food was good, rooms were very nice, shows entertaining. The only drawback was the ocean but it was beautiful!
