Great staff and good food - Very Clean!
It was a bit of a drive (1hr) from the Punta Cana airport, but the transportation through our travel agency was seamless. They did not offer drinks or snacks on the bus, so I would recommend stopping somewhere in the airport if you need anything after your flight. The resort is fairly private, although access to a public beach and local vendors is available at the far end of the resort. Security monitors everyone who leaves (asks for your names and room numbers) and checks your room number when you return. Very lush green tropical grounds and several different beaches with access to the water. Unfortunately, to have that lush greenery, you may get some rain while you are there. We averaged about 3 hours over 7 days. We paid extra for premium (well worth it) as well as upgraded to RIF bracelets, so we didn't have to worry about carrying around our room key (very convenient). We paid extra for swim-out rooms, and it was a waste of money. The pools are not heated (found them very cold), and the pool off the rooms does not connect to any other pools. We admired the balconies with the view of the ocean and wished we had spent money on that instead. If you don't like climbing stairs, you will want a main-floor room, which was a benefit of having a swim-out room. We didn't get a butler, but we did see lots of people who had them. They brought coolers with drinks and seemed very attentive. Drink service at the pool was a little slow, even after tipping, so if drinking is important to you, you might want to consider a butler. The entire resort was spotless. The maid service was great, and the floors were always mopped. The showers were fantastic (great rain head as well as hand-held shower) and very clean - no mould anywhere. They scrub down the deck chairs at night, and they check the chemicals in the pools multiple times throughout the day. They have people use hand sanitizer before entering the restaurants and buffets (great when you are all using the same tongs to pick up food). Our favourite restaurant was NOOR as they had lots of vegetarian options. We didn't try Chinola as we found the mosquitoes were annoying at dusk. They do provide you with bug spray in your room. They have lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathrooms so you can save room in your suitcase if you are not picky about your products. They also have 50 spf sunscreen at the premium pools, which was really convenient. The hot tub was also actually hot and a nice change from the extra-cold pools. The hallways do echo, so in the morning expect to hear some noise. We had someone whistling at 7:30 am while walking down the hall and it was very loud. We stayed mostly on the Secrets side, but if you don't mind some noise you can also go to any of the restaurants or pools on the family side (Dreams). Or you can even go to the waterpark with a lazy river. The Italian restaurant was lovely, although loud with children. The evening shows were on the family side and mostly catered to kids, but the fire dancing was amazing. They also have live music in the lobby, so if you like violins ... My only complaint about the resort is the chairs in the lobby. I think the designer must be under 5 feet tall, as my husband and I both felt like we were sitting on children-sized chairs with our knees up around our chests. The only spot with normal-height chairs was in the sports bar and casino. In all the other public areas, expect to sit really low and be uncomfortably deep. I said it was like visiting the kindergarten teacher to talk about your childrens' grades and sitting in the kids chairs and tables. My partner is over 6 feet, and it was hard on his back even after a short time sitting in the lobby. If you go, take a look at everyone sitting in the lobby, and you will see everyone's knees bent at an awkward angle. We managed for the week, but if you are staying longer and you are tall, you might not want to sit in the lobby. Or at least book yourself a massage after a long time sitting :). The spa was fantastic. The service was professional, and the products were good for sensitive skin. If you have the time or money, I would say it is worth a visit. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort, and overheard several other guests saying that they would come back.
