Dec 26, 2025Not a 4.5 Star Property!
We stayed here for the first 2 weeks of December. Check-in went well and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The room was fine but some of the floor tiles were a bit loose and clicked when stepped on. The locking mechanism on the sliding door to the balcony had been pried with tools to the point of being completely useless so there was no way of locking that door! Of the two elevators nearest our room, only one was in service with no indication of why the 2nd one was not in service. The floor in the one that was working was a bit "spongy" and the floor tiles were severely cracked which gave us a bit of an uncomfortable feeling, wondering if the floor was rotten?? There is no excuse for that and the floor needs to be fixed! The room was clean and quiet. Again, the staff were all very good at their jobs. The fitness center was on the ground floor but there was no rowing machine and I have one at home so that's typically the only machine I use so we did not frequent that facility. The pools were all well kept but finding a chaise in the shade was a challenge. People go out in the early morning and reserve their chaise lounges for the day. We had 14 days of hot sun and felt that this place needs much more shade shelter. We found a palapa on the beach one day but the ground was sloping badly and the plastic chaise lounges were in very poor (garbage dump) condition. They need replacement badly so we found a shady spot under some trees at the pool out back and that's where we stayed most days. We did not pay for a 4.5 star property to sit in a broken chaise lounge on a slope! Knock off 2 stars on that count. There were no poolside activities at the pool out back except Archery at 10 am daily so we missed out on the various organized activities that went on at the oceanside pools because we needed the shade. We often read hotel reviews in which someone complains about the food or the bed, etc. so we frequently write them off as being too fussy but in conversation with others at this hotel, they often and willingly volunteered that the food here is poor. A sentiment that I shared whole heartedly but it was always others that brought the matter up (so I was not alone in my thinking). Having said that, there were a few meals that we had in the specialty restaurants that were actually quite good but more often than not, meals (lunch and supper) in the buffet (World Cafe) were disappointing. In fairness, the morning egg chefs at both the World Cafe and the Seaside Grill were both excellent. The food here was my biggest complaint and after hearing similar comments from others, I would suggest that this property is far from the 4.5 stars that it is rated at and is quite over-priced for the food quality that was presented. We both had a bout with stomach problems. I don't know if that was a result of the food, the water, the ice in the drinks, etc.?? We always travel with our own meds so we were able to clear it up quickly. Bar drinks were hit and miss. When we got there, they had Ballantine's scotch on the shelf but they ran out and did not replace it. When we ordered Kahlua with cream, we got a cheap, coffee liqueur substitute which really surprised me because that product is made in Mexico. Aside from my "belly aching", the location is great with a lovely, sandy beach, warm ocean and warm pools for a relaxing vacation.

We had a wonderful 7 night stay at dreams Huatulco! We spent majority of our day in the infinity pool which was lovely. Make sure you reserve your chairs early as by 9 AM most chairs are reserved. Great food and great service, we will definitely be back!

Great location and staff, aging buildings.
Beautiful location, great staff. Hotel is showing its age. We experienced no hot water and toilet problem. Not a 5 -star hotel. More like 3 and one-half.

Great entertainment
Alna and fernando were amazing entertainment staff, they always had a smile and something positive to say! Definitely made music trivia so much more engaging! Thank you! Merry Christmas

We had a blast!
Fernando and Alna were amazing entertainment staff. SO fun! Fernando does an awesome line dance to Cotton Eye Joe and Alna really worked my arms in water aerobics. We had a great stay. 10/10
